It's easy to overlook Jermaine Pennant when taking about fantastic wingers. I an convinced that given a chance at Liverpool he could easily score 40+ goals for them. His form has dipped since joining the dippers, and i believe that he is the biggest wasted talent in the prem today. There is no doubt in my mind that the 'undisclosed player' that saf has placed a bid for is JP, he would be the ideal replacement for whatshisname, bringing us more pace, flair, and goals than we could ever dream of.

:lol::lol::lol:

On the contrary. We've spent so much time on here that we've learnt to separate the truth from the fiction and its been an education for many of us.
The fact that this is a war between the two greatest clubs in the world and the best player in the world is what makes this so interesting. This saga is being followed worldwide and we're actually at the centre of it here at the caf, hence the 25,000 daily views we get on this topic.
So ease up on the criticism of those of us who post on here. Yes, there's a lot of bs about but there's also been more good discussioon than I've ever seen on the caf before, from caftards not usually involved in such things.
With caftards scatterd all over the world it doesn't take long for news to pop up here, the minute it comes out anywhere. I'm not one for indiscriminately posting as you can see from my post count prior to this thread. I'm hooked on this, yes, but for good reason.

The discusion is great, it is the quoting of every news report to either vindicate or mainly to revile Ronaldo that is stupid. All the media are only interested in soundbites to make headlines, facts and truth are an irrelevence and inconvienince to their story.

The media have been a disgrace in this whole thing but in the end without Ronaldo opening his gob they would have had absolutely nothing to twist. He's behaved disrespectfully to United and deserves criticism for it.

Why are we still discussing this topic? Didn't Sir Alex confirm he's staying? We all know Ronaldo still dreams of Madrid, but for sure he will be a United player next season as well.

Agree with that 100%.

The exact amount of criticism he deserves is open to depate though. Some of the posturing by certain fans has been ridiculously over the top, no doubt fuelled by residual bitterness over The Sun-fuelled "winkergate" nonsense.

But yeah, Ronaldo has acted like a bit of a cnut this summer.

Marca are switching their interest to Kaka it would seem. This is their headline this morning;

Galliani: "Real Madrid has asked again for Kakà"

Adriano Galliani, vice president of Milan affirmed that "Real Madrid has asked again for Kakà", during the presentation of the new rossonera shirt. Before (the presentstion) the Italian press took the opportunity to break the news of the insistence of Kakà on the interest in Chelsea; "I was in Abramovich's yacht. I wanted to go to Shevchenko and he to Kakà, but the departure finished to zero. On the other hand, I can confirm that Kakà has asked Madrid again ".

Galliani himself remained firm in his position of not negotiating for the crack Brazilian. "We never will sell him, not even if an offer of 300 million from Chelsea were to arrive with us", although he opened a door to his exit affirming that "the only motive that would enable us to sell is the will of the player".

No prizes for guessing where they are going by quoting the part about the 'will of the player'!

What a desperate clown Calderon is:lol:

Throughout this brilliant and record-breaking thread, caftards have rightly hammered the role played by Marca and AS as Real's mouthpieces. We have also hammered the unspeakable scum of the British press. What I don't understand is why we don't use the Manchester Evening News or some other such paper in the same role as Real use Marca? Why isn't there one single fecking British journalist on our side? We do nothing but bring excitement, style and glory to English sport but no-one in the media wants to take our side in this dismal saga. (No doubt I will be quickly corrected if I am wrong about us having zero media support, but I don't live in England and don't read every UK paper).

You get used to it after a while. The only there was anything positive about is recently was a couple of years back when they were getting bored of Chelski. As soon as we were back on top it was business as usual.

Totally agree. The problem is that the player seemingly doesn't agree. Fergie has obviously dealt with "problem" players many times, but I do wonder whether forcing him to stay will have a negative effect on the squad (in terms of morale and harmony). It's only that he's such a great player that I'd keep him, even though it would be my preference that he fecked off and we pocketed a shit load of money. I guess the bottom line (as always) is that you have to trust Fergie in what he's doing, although my opinion of "Ronaldo the man" has soured somewhat.

Did any of you all see an interview with Rio, from South Africa, where he said the dressing room all love Ronnie, can't wait to see him again, no problems with him, we understand his situation etc etc? Sorry, I've lost the link. It read as a very positive interview, like Rio was saying the players know what the feck is going on, they aren't taken in by all the media bollocks, and all will be well.

I had a bet with a scouser that if he stayed i'd get to see a pic of his bird's tits as he thought it was a dead cert that he was going :D

The scouser i mentioned has followed up on the bet, despite the transfer window staying open till the eng of August he has conceded defeat and sent me a video  of his mrs wearing just her panties

He's in the newbies on here too, PeacefulRival i think he's called :D:D:D

No you've got no choice but post the video

Exactly what I and just a few others have been, rather forlornly, trying to maintain throughtout this thread.

When it's all over I've a mind to do a sort of precis of the thread - it would make a good book actually. Might get it published. Hmmm...

Seriously, you should definitely do that, Magic. It would be an incredible best-seller. "The biggest football thread of all time." "The voices of the common fans in the digital age." Just think how you could bring out the personalities of Bahama, Dippersripper, Pogue and others. If you, or some other caftard, doesn't do it, some scabby cnut of a journalist will, I guarantee you! That cannot be allowed. Do we have any caftards in publishing?

I think Rio is the last person on this planet to be giving out comments about whether fans or players should accept Ronnie back.

In the not so distant past he himself made himself and United look fecking stupid, and theres many fans still havent forgiven him for that.

So perhaps Rio should concentrate on getting himself back in everyones good books before telling people how they should react to Ronaldo.

Fred summed it up perfectly.

Bullshit. The only people Rio made look stupid were the knuckle-dragging gobshites booing him from the stands. Not they needed much help in looking stupid, to be honest.

I feel the same right now, but what he did was definitely stupid and most thought he was a cnut at that time.

He took his time in negotiating a contract that was a fair reflection of his value to the team. A value he has since lived up to (and more) by his performances on the pitch.

I didn't have a problem with this at the time, just like I didn't have a problem with Keano doing something similar, a few seasons before that. Anyone who starts booing players - for taking their time in negotiating a new contract - is a tool, IMO.

According to reports, Real Madrid have asked AC Milan about the possible availability of Kaka, which will be music to the ears of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Manchester United manager has had to cope with intense speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford all summer, with the Portugal international welcoming interest from the Bernabeu with open arms despite the European Champions insisting he is not for sale.

Real are prepared to smash the transfer record to land Ronaldo, but it appears as though they have finally got the message that the 23-year-old former Sporting Lisbon ace is simply not for sale as reports suggest the Spanish champions have turned their attentions to Brazilian superstar Kaka.

Chelsea were heavily linked with an £80million swoop for the AC Milan star over the weekend, although they insist no offer has been made. The Rossoneri stress the 26-year-old is not for sale, but they may now face intense speculation similar to that which has surrounded United and Ronaldo in recent weeks.
....

He missed the drug test, got banned himself and met with kenyon. The truth is he was a cnut, he is not anymore. He himself admitted that having kids changed his behaviour.

Slavery, eh?

Concur. We are clueless to the reasons for the delay and the club always seem to get the benefit of the doubt..unless you're roy keane

He got a heavy (and dispoportionate) punishment for the drug test and happened to eat a meal in the same restaurant as Kenyon (something that was hyped out of all proportion by the press and "top red" fans). How does this make him a cnut?

A forgetful twat maybe but not a cnut. Besides, if we started booing players, just for being cnuts, where does it stop? I reckon Nani might be a bit of a prick, should I start booing him?

Fred summed it up perfectly.

You know, I rather think that some of you guys are so naive as to be deserving of pity. I find it genuinely sad that so many supporters utterly fail to understand that the modern game is very largely played by professionals in every sense - including keeping all their career options open.

For a player to sell his soul to a club, kiss the badge and declare his unwavering, undying loyalty, his absolute refusal to countenance any move away from the club he adores, is not merely very rare, but would be rather silly. This sort of attitude belongs with the fans; it can never be adopted by the players en masse in the context of the modern game. Players are therefore looking out for their own best interests. Some might call them mercenaries. Others still might hurl the abusive term 'whore'. I guess there is some justification for both, but the reality is that as fans we come to love our favourite and best players at our peril, for it must ever remain a case of unrequited love. They cannot reciprocate our love without, at least potentially, compromising their career choices.

So where does this leave the likes of you and your fellow cnut-callers? Well for a start you reveal yourselves as arrogant. Yes, I'm very sorry but you are. You expect each and every player to adhere rigidly to your own code of fidelity and passion for the club. How unrealistic is that?! Second, you reveal yourselves as naive; just because that at United we are lucky enough to have a few of those very rare, totally loyal players, you bitch about the normal ones who never will buy into that mind set. And thirdly you display the conceit to 'demand' that players all fall in with your strictures upon player attitude and conduct, to the extent that you issue your hilarious 'warnings' to players of such quality and stature as Rio Ferdinand, who no doubt quake in their boots on hearing your dire warnings!

Let's for goodness sake keep a sense of proportion here. I'm sure I cannot be the only one to find your attitude to Rio as hilarious as it is objectionable

Poggy is right here...we are fans...the idea being we support through thick and thin. Fair play if you have an opinion and voice it but to actually boo your own?? how does that help anyone??

wayne rooney is clearly a bit of a cnut but because he plays for utd we turn a blind eye to all his rash moments..... some players get the benefit...others dont.

Wasn't he in two separate restaurants at the same time as Kenyon on the same night? That does seem massively coincidental.

He was seen with Kenyon and linked to Chelsea at the time. A few weeks later after his 'meeting' with the slime-bag, he signed a new and improved contract. So, fans were right not to be pleased. He was clearly after a new contract. . .after everything that went on, previously. Nowt wrong with a bit of humility, eh, Rio? But that's in the past, and he's been the business, since. No complaints from me.

 Just embarrasing. That desperate fool Calderon is trying to save his own skin now.

I get the impression that there are private communications between Real, Calderon, Ronaldo, and his Representatives.

It’s all too coincidental that Ronaldo reiterates that his future is still not decided whilst Calderon then also states that Real have not given up hope of signing him.

What a kick in the teeth it would be then for Ronaldo if Real were to instantly drop interest in him and switch to Kaka.

It would be like asking some ones wife to leave her husband for you and then switching your attentions elsewhere after she has told her husband she wants to leave him.

Yes we will have you back Ronny but you are sleeping in the spare room so to speak.:D

I would say it's a certainty he's off next summer.
Not sure about that. I'd say he's almost certain to leave in the next two years, but don't think it'll necessarily be next season. However, to keep him here any more than two years I think will take us winning at least one of those Champions League's, and being widely considered to be developing into one of the greatest sides of all time. Not just by our fans, but for even the neutrals to be kind of in awe of us. If we are extremely successful, and the Premier League as a whole continues to pull further and further ahead of La Liga and Serie A...then I can see him wanting to stay here. Of course, realistically that's unlikely.

As I said waaaaaaaaaaay back on about page 10 of this thread, we've basically found ourselves in the same situation that Bayern did with Hargreaves, the season before last.

We've got a player, on a long-term contract, who is agitating for a move but we don't want to sell.

We can play hard-ball for now but he will only be convinced to stay, on the condition that we don't block his departure the following summer.

Actually, come to think of it, this is the same scenario that Spurs faced with Berbatov last summer. Which should mean it's only a matter of time before Spurs roll over. But that's a theory for a different (massive) thread.
I've been saying for ages that Hargreaves, Berbatov, Carrick and Saha were all just as bad as Ronaldo has been here. At least Hargreaves and Saha worse, possibly Berbatov as well depending on how things go with him over the next month or so. But because firstly we were on the positive end in those situations, and secondly because the media were nowhere near as bad in those cases (the fact they were bad in all those tells you how bad they've been in this one) means people here don't see them as cnuts.
