The crux of the interview.

Seems in line with the recent revelations from the rest of the ESPN Deportes interview (not to mention the most relevant and important parts as well) from SSN posted by Sults.

Yes, but for how long, at least it gives United time to find a replacement.

So one interview being horribly twisted and getting everyone here riled up and angry with him again, then being shown to actually be a positive interview for us, doesn't remotely make you wonder how many of the other comments he has made in the press were equally twisted?

Like the Blatter interview. I asked this question way back and don't think I got an answer. So far in this entire thread I've seen a grand total of one person say that they saw Blatter's interview themselves and understood it. And guess what? They said the media somewhat twisted that as well, as he was first talking about the slavery and it wasn't until later, after he was specifically asked about Ronaldo, said that Man Utd and Madrid should sit down and work it out themselves. He also said they should work it out so that Ronaldo could move if he wanted to, but never said anything about Ronaldo being a slave. Now if anyone else actualy saw and understood the inverview themselves, please give your take on it. Because if that is how it happene, then obviously Blatter's comments were taken out of context, which obviously then took Ronaldo's 'I agree with Blatter' comment also out of context. He was either talking about slavery in football in general, or the comment about Man Utd and Real Madrid should work it out. Either way, hardly saying that he felt like a slave.

Obviously, he would quite like to move. But whenever asked about his future, he'd say things like he didn't know the future, or that it was up to Man Utd and Real Madrid to work it out. He constantly tried to keep himself out of it, as he didn't want to burn his bridges with us when he would probably be staying here, but didn't want to piss Real Madrid off and put a future move in jeopardy. Unfortunately, that stance of saying very little also allowed the media to make up literally thousands of stories and report his few comments in many different ways.

Good points, the media have clearly been twisting things since the CL final in this whole saga and the SSN piece this morning on the 'rest of the ESPN Deportes' interview was the most recent example of how they've managed to keep the fans in the dark about the truth. Why on earth would these bastards not publish the most important and relevants parts and instead print the part that would make him look bad? Well, mainly because that's how the media work, it's a business built on selling news and attracting the most attention, if it takes twisting things and taking statements out of context, so be it.

Morning all.....anyone posted this yet.....translation please.....

Ronaldo says he gives a 100% effort in whatever he do, wherever he plays. There has been a lot of speculations and he is aware of it. Ronaldo also says he surfs the Red Cafe and notices there are a lot of top reds, especially a handle named Bahama Red. He ends the interview by saying he hopes to play football very soon again.

I know, but I'd not seen this live version before. The next one is from yesterday or the day before.

just edited my earlier post...

btw, the latest video is the same ESPN Deportes interview, it's the one that's been cut out and partly printed by the papers. The rest of the interview was shown today on SSN where he said he wants to win more trophies with United, that Fergie's a formidable man and that his comments re Blatter were misinterpreted.

Good points there. If the main thrust of Blatter's remarks have been misrepresented by a media anxious to feed the 'Blatter is a nutter' line, then Ron agreeing with him casts him in a bad light. So his comments in the ESPN interview that he'd been misunderstood regarding agreeing with Blatter become understandable.

Is that in this interview or is this only a part of that interview?

I don't think he needed to be told to stay ambiguous. He has been since the Euros. His position hasn't changed. Come up with the goodies i.e. large amounts that everone's happy with and I'll be off. If not, feck off.
It started to look a wind up the day after the Euros finished, when people - Calderon, Scolari - started to back track and delay. No bid and no transfer request, in spite of the bullshit press that had most fools on 'ere believing them. I've been consistent for 6 weeks. It's all bollocks. Madrid aint got the money and have been reliant on Ronnie putting in a request which he was never going to do. But instead of thinking things through, it's all, 'He' a cnut, sell 'im!' Pathetic.

Is that in this interview or is this only a part of that interview?

Check out the last pages since you went to bed, and you'll see not only very interesting stuff regarding the scandalous gutter-press's tactics, but that having finally grasped this essential point some erstwhile detractors are modifying their stances somewhat.

Any day now, watch out for 'Viva Ronaldo' permanently built into this thread as a background jingle.

the part that was shown on SSN today was posted by Sultan a couple of pages ago, I think the ESPN Deportes interview on YouTube (posted yesterday) is the one that doesn't mention these latest developments, it's just part of the whole interview which the rags had run with it.

It's part of the interview. It's the bit that was posted on ESPN Deportes website on Saturday as a trailer. The press coverage over the weekend all related to that snippet.

SSN now seem to have the whole thing - including the rest of the stuff about United.

See guys, after all these statments in the interview and yet the headlines in the papers were :

See how negative the media are? This is exactly what I meant when I said we know too little to be turning on Ronaldo. You're reacting exactly how the media want you to.

The media is no suprise to us as United supporters. This latest misrepresentation is just stupid though, with the interview captured on camera, it was obviously going to come out that his comments weren't as negative as first appeared, and they just end up looking like bitter hacks

I'm glad he's starting to back track, after Fergies meeting with him and being told in no uncertain terms he wasn't going anywhere this summer, he had little choice frankly. Even though the media cherry picked the end of the interview, he still said those ambiguous things at the end though. I think he's made it clear as day he wants to be at Madrid, but what can he do? He's bound by the ink he signed onto a contract over a year ago

We all know that Blatter's interview and Ronaldo's agreement were staged to help Ronaldo move to Madrid, but luckily Sir Alex blocked the move. So, the cnut is now trying to win back the fans by changing his words. We all know it, but many are waiting for the moment for Ronaldo to come out and say his comments were taken out of context so that they can feel better about Ronaldo and his great character.

you sound like one of the tabloids

Reading between the lines Ronaldo did genuinely want to go to Madrid - he just never realised SAF was just as determined for him to remain.

Here's what SAF said:

"The meeting went well - I think we both put across our points of view - where we stand and where the player stands.

"I can say he'll be a Manchester United player next season. That's our stance - he won't be sold."

Asked why he had not commented on the matter until now, Ferguson replied: "It's not a difficult position. I was on my holiday and I was not going to interrupt my holiday, believe me.

"I wasn't panicked because the player is under contract so the strength and the rights are with Manchester United.

Looks like Fergie's told him where he's going to play. . .and he's accepted it. Well done, Fergie. But you wouldn't expect anything else from the formidable one, would you?

well I was expecting a black eye for Ronnie. that might explain the Jackie-O style shades he's sporting in sunny California, mind.

Sir Alex Ferguson was at his most candid yet about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo – firmly setting out the facts that he is contracted to the club for four more years, but also adding that a move to Real Madrid would be “the worst thing he could do”.

The 23-year-old winger, who is currently recovering after an ankle operation that will keep him for around three months, has been the subject of much speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

United have sternly stated throughout that Ronaldo will not be leaving, while Sir Alex described a meeting with the player in Portugal as “amicable” and also seemingly positive.

At a press conference in Durban on the club’s visit to South Africa, Sir Alex took time out to further reveals his views.

“The future is that he signed a five year contract with the team last year and he has four years left. That’s definite, I’ve seen his signature,” he said.

“After the Champions League final Ronaldo was the happiest boy in the world. I think he knows where the best club is to be, and that is Manchester United.

“I honestly believe that going to Real Madrid would be the worst thing he could do. He’s 23 years old and is at a fantastic club.”

Michael Carrick was far from pleading with his team-mate, but there is no doubt as to the strength of the dressing room spirit.

“I can only speak for myself,” he said. “But for me this is the best place in the world to be. Joining the club was the best decision I ever made.”

Of course he has an option, he could ask for transfer and made a big fuss about being kept against his will etc etc which is exactly what Madrid have been pushing him to do. The media would have loved it and if he had no respect for the club like some on here say that is exactly what he would do.

Fergie worried if Ron leaves
by Ben Blackmore, 21 July 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have backtracked somewhat on his stance regarding Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming on Monday that ‘going to Real Madrid would be the worst thing he could do’.

Ferguson seemed ultra-confident over Ronaldo’s future on Friday, insisting the 23-year-old ‘would be a Manchester United player next season’.

The United boss maintains that view – pointing to the facts of Ronaldo’s contract, but his suggestion that Madrid would be a bad career move appear to hint that the saga is not yet dead.

Madrid president Roman Calderon has confirmed he will not be giving up until the player states his position, which crucially remains cloudy after Ronaldo stated ‘only God knows my future’.

Ferguson may be God in the eyes of United fans, but his confidence seemed less secure when discussing the matter on Monday.

“The future is that he signed a five year contract with the team last year and he has four years left. That’s definite, I’ve seen his signature,” said the Scot.

“After the Champions League final Ronaldo was the happiest boy in the world. I think he knows where the best club is to be, and that is Manchester United.

“I honestly believe that going to Real Madrid would be the worst thing he could do. He’s 23 years old and is at a fantastic club.”

Jesus Christ. That article is the biggest load of bollocks ever. How does Fergie saying those things mean he is worried that Ronaldo might leave?

You have to laugh at how misleading some of the newspaper headlines have been over this whole saga. I mean I know they usually are but the ones in this saga have been something else

I was just thinking the same thing. It's got to a stage now where I refuse to read these articles anymore. I can't understand how so many lies and false stories can be generated.

That's one way to interpret his statements I guess.

It's almost biblical. Like the New Testament gospel-writers Torturing obscure references in the Old Teatament to 'prove' that the Jews believed in an after life, when the rest of the OT makes it clear they did not.
Good enough precedent. Or then again, maybe just a combination of desperate, news-less journos and an infinitely credulous readership..

...and every time one of these 'interpretations' are printed...Calderon lives another day....
