Just wish this was over one way or t'other........boring.

Aye. fecking tedious bullshit. Hope they just sort it out once an for all. I don't want this media shit-cloud hanging over us this season.

I'd seen some really similar ones with Adolf Hitler in them. Not sure who this Hiltler fella is though.

I've heard people talking about the Hitler, apparently they're hilarious. I'm not going to click on the link, to new for someone like me.

Googled 'Hiltler', apparently he was some guy who ruled in Germany and really hated dyslexics.

The AS article I mentioned - translated/summarised (I hope fairly) by me - which appears to have the same basic story as that rumour that Mendes had been told that Ron could go anywhere except Madrid:

Cristiano to Ferguson: "I want to go to Madrid"
Face to face. There were accusations by both. But two things are clear. Cristiano wants to move to Madrid and Ferguson has told him that he can have a transfer to any club except Madrid. The two are at war and the Portuguese will not return to Manchester.

Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo have already met and the United coach knows that he wants to go. They have spoken and have said everything to face to face. The event was last weekend. In Sintra (near Lisbon), in a secret location to avoid the media (in fact the British press has published throughout the whole week that Ferguson had planned a trip to Lisbon, but it had been suspended).

At that meeting, Cristiano confirmed what everyone expected, that he wants to leave Manchester and that his dream now is to play in Madrid. He also recalled that he promised that he could leave United if they won titles. With the Champions and Premier Cristiano told him that he wanted to make the move.

Reproach. The player confessed that he only wants to return to Manchester to make the move, but that does not want to return to the discipline of the team. In addition, he said that all statements he has made have been because they had believed and hoped that the United would not make life impossible on the road to Madrid. Finally he complained about the threats that Ferguson made through the media ( "Rather than sell, we'd put him in the stands," according Glazer, the club owners).

Ferguson heard all the criticisms of his player and then showed a different side to what had been seen in Manchester. He said he was willing to sell him to any club except Madrid. After the conversation, Cristiano maintains that he doesn't want to go back to Manchester as they've nothing more to say.

They will have to return to speak when the team returns from South Africa because time is pressing and Cristiano wants to leave now. In Madrid, aware of everything, are more optimistic than ever and are now awaiting the Portuguese star.

-----------

True/false?

Who knows - it's AS so the odds are on false/distorted.

Meanwhile someone on another board reckons he heard a radio interview with Ron in the US in which he said in response to a Madrid/Manchester question that, he'd be happy at either and that he was just keen to play football again.

He wanted to go BEFORE the CL Final.

Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro believes Cristiano Ronaldo 'must respect' his Manchester United contract.
Last week, Fifa president Sepp Blatter voiced his controversial comments on 'modern slavery' in football.
Speaking of United winger Ronaldo's future, amid public interest from Real, Blatter said that no player should be held against his will.
Cannavaro, though, feels players should honour their deals - with Ronaldo's current contract due to expire in 2012.
"Slavery is a big word," the Italian centre-back told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Someone who signs a contract must respect it."
On Sunday, it was announced that Ronaldo is facing at least three months on the sidelines following ankle surgery.
The 23-year-old's future at Old Trafford still remains uncertain, with the Portugal international yet to confirm where he intends to play his football next season.

Roy Keane backs Cristiano Ronaldo as Man United bid to keep him from Real Madrid

By Steve Wilson
Last Updated: 9:33am BST 18/07/2008

Manchester United's prospects of winning the battle to hold on to Cristiano Ronaldo appear to have improved after it emerged that Sir Alex Ferguson met with the player last week to discuss his future.
Cristiano Ronaldo's night out in LA sure to anger Sir Alex Ferguson and Man United

It had been widely believed that Ferguson postponed a planned trip to Portugal but reports in this morning's papers contradict that version of events, with Ferguson having travelled to Lisbon to hold face-to-face talks with the Portuguese winger.

Although there has been no official word on whether or not Ferguson has convinced his prized asset to snub a record transfer to Real Madrid the fact that the two men are talking suggests that their relationship is not in as perilous a state as previously believed.

The news arises as Sunderland manager Roy Keane became the latest high profile figure to wade in to the debate over the rights and wrongs of the long running transfer saga that has dominated the football headlines all summer.

Without making direct reference to Ronaldo, Keane, whose own experiences of leaving Old Trafford have perhaps left him with a slightly tainted view of the dealings of top clubs when it comes to their players, followed up Sepp Blatter's controversial comments about modern day "slaves" in football by describing clubs as treating their employees like "pieces of meat".

Keane left United in 2005 in acrimonious circumstances and though now himself in the dug out, sympathises with the plight of the modern footballer.

""When a club is finished with you," he said, "they get rid. My advice is look after yourself. If you get the chance for bigger and better things, then go for it.

"I've experienced that myself. People question players' loyalty. I question clubs' loyalty. It's a business to them.

"If you're not needed then you can be out of the door in ten minutes, and I'm speaking from experience.

"Clubs buy and sell players. Clubs sell players sometimes like a pieces of meat."

The backlash aimed at Ronaldo over his assertion that Fifa president Blatter was right when branding footballers as modern slave continues, and will not have been helped by images of Ronaldo, who recently underwent ankle surgery, out on the town in Los Angeles whilst he recuperates.

United are believed to privately have questioned the need for the surgery at this time.

Images of Ronaldo in a dazzling white suit hobbling between star-studded engagements were splashed across tabloid newspapers and Ferguson will be dismayed at some of the reports of how his prized possession is spending his free time.

After arriving in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Ronaldo headed for the trendy nightclub Villa with two friends in tow. At one point the 23-year-old, who split with his girlfriend, Nereida Gallardo, this week, reportedly put his crutches down to take to the dancefloor with four models, before being served £10,000 worth of Cristal champagne.

At one point in the evening, Paris Hilton, the heiress and party animal, allegedly tried flirting with him, only to be spurned.

Ronaldo then went on to the ESPY sports award ceremony, at which he was nominated for best international male athlete. Among those attending the 'sporting Oscars' were singer Justin Timberlake and David and Victoria Beckham.

Meanwhile, Ferguson is convinced that Dimitar Berbatov will soon join United after speaking directly about a player he has made a formal bid with Tottenham for.

Tottenham continue to insist that the Bulgarian is not for sale but that is assumed to be merely a tactic to force the price up from United's initial £22 million offer. Tottenham are holding out for close to £30 million, though are resigned to losing the player.

"We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov," said Ferguson, "and we have good expectations that this deal will go through.

"Berbatov has been impressive during a long time and would be a great addition to our attack."

Midfielder Owen Hargreaves did not travel to South Africa with the rest of the United squad for a pre-season tour as he continues to recover from a persistent ankle complaint.

All part of Calderon's plan?

Got it wrong is being generous.

The story would have no "twist" if the slave comments came before.

And even when you really take a closer look at the whole of the Blatter remarks, they are not what the media is having you believe that they are.

Indeed.

If you look at the video at skysports' website, that part is clearly edited out! the video only gives you the part where he is keen to play football again, and after that its clearly cut and edited. Because if he did say that, its almost the end of the whole story.

Seems to be too short for good.

These threads all look the same to me

Keane is absolutely spot on.

Clubs are as disloyal to players as players are to clubs.

Look at how Ruud was treated for his little spat, ironically with Ronaldo.

If a players contract can be deemed worthless by the clubs then the same has to apply the other way around.

Clubs cannot ask for loyalty from players when it suits then offload them at the drop of a hat.

And btw, anyone who slags Keane off is a prize A1 pillock.

Alongside Cantona, theres not many players I wouldnt have a bad word said against them. Keane happens to be one of them..

I don't entirely agree. The club show the players loyalty by paying their wages and giving them every chance to succeed. The idea of the club being disloyal, looking after the well being of the player isn't there for me.

When a player is past it, or when a manager has a vision of youth then it would be disloyal of the club to the fans to deny them progress. You cannot, in life, live in the past when your striving to move forward

You say 'little' spat with Ronaldo, first we don't know how big or small it was and we don't know the day to day. Ruud might have caused alot more problems then we appreciate.

Additionally, ruud's form was non - existant. For a player who was one of the best strikers in the world, to be so fickle that when given the chance he was still effected is more a slur on ruud then anyone.

I think in the instance of keano and ruud, the club and Sir Alex have been proved right and now rather then asking how we are going to replace 34 year old keano and 31 year old ruud....we don't have those problems anymore

But I think the loyalty comes in the fans, the facilities and all the benefits they get. Someone said it right, I forget who. Players when in form sometimes look to increase their wage. Very few, if playing shite say..well you can lower my wages because i've not earnt it

The club will always be loyal to the player IF the player is doing what's expected of him.

We looked after blomquist, Ole, Saha - through terrible injuries. That is loyalty.

Sure it's not cut and dried and it just comes down to opinion, because of the different levels of football and wages etc. It's not easy.

I would say Keano shouldn't have commented because being a manager now, he must surely realize if he ever get's a top job - it's an impossible job.

Additionally, people say the player is unhappy? How do they know that? His head might have been turned but is that the end then?

I just think the players at the top have too much power and the overriding concern should be getting rid of agents who have no loyalty either way - who just want to leech from every club

Loyalty is a good thing! It's not a bad thing the clubs wanting. I just don't believe the player is unhappy and I think a lot of people try and read his mind and it's pointless

Finally, the club players represent the fans who are the most important people in the game. The nature of the fans is exactly how this is. The fans want loyalty because we give it and we're not exactly rich or shagging super models :)

right im confused were is the ronometer
No help. The Ronometer's confused too.....

Boss: Ronaldo's staying put

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he met with Cristiano Ronaldo to discuss the player's future and insists the winger will not be sold to Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old has been openly coveted by Real Madrid over the last few months with the player himself reported to be keen on a switch to the Bernabeu.

However, at a press conference in South Africa to mark the start of United's pre-season trip, the Reds' boss confirmed Ronaldo is going nowhere.

"The meeting went well - I think we both put across our points of view - where we stand and where the player stands," explained Sir Alex.

"I can say he'll be a Manchester United player next season. That's our stance - he won't be sold."

In all seriousness, this is the best news I've heard in a while.

Ronaldo staying will be worth around £400 to me, which is pretty niiiice.

never doubted it but it's important to keep on winning

oh and real madrid fans.....:smirk:

So Ronaldo said he wanted to go, and Ferguson said no.

That's one way of looking at it. Wants to go or tempted or giving the club a chance to earn $$$ on him??

I wouldn't put it as cynical as that. I suppose Ronny will get a kick as someone who didn't want to go to Madrid enough, it'll embarrass them that :)

Fergie's comments means exactly that. Although I think he does want to go to Madrid, it is very unlikely that he's as unhappy about staying as the media are going to make out in the next few days :)

Was always the most likely outcome, I thought from the beginning he wanted to go but wouldn't be sold.

I wouldnt say this is the last of it.

Of course not.

Blatter will announce he may consider urgent action to save Ronaldo from his evil enslavers.

Real Madrid will annouce that they are still hopeful of signing Ronaldo.

An Iranian website will publish quotes from Ronaldo saying he is about to hand in a transfer request.

Ronaldo will wink at some reporters.

Robinho will announce that he's better than Ronaldo anyway.

Liverpool fans will commit suicide.

The Goal/Calderon piece is better news for the thread though.

The problem with bosses like Ferguson is that they're toobossy and don't appreciate decent threads, treating them as little more than slaves..
