ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

Marca is Madrid's mouth piece.

They want to buy the Ronaldo, and just as we have used the media for our pursuits in the past, they are doing what they need to do. They will carry on with the propaganda until that boy Ronaldo does not shut them up with a clear statement of intent.

Oh if you think Ronaldo will shut Marca up, think again. They will continue to print rubbish. I remember a few years ago they said Wenger had agreed terms with Real Madrid, Wenger denied this and then they claimed he was just lying because the deal had not been finalised yet

Don't think every united player is so loyal as players like Giggs.

(We've even booed him. Remember his miss against Arsenal back in 2003?)

true but let's not put a slur on everyone. At the end of the day it comes down to character, and at the moment Ronaldo is lacking.

Anderson is a sensible lad, the day to start worrying is when he brings up - you never know the future crap

Maybe so. But we should not always be so cynical about "sources." Leaks do happen. Whatever. It is indisputable that SAF has made no effort to reconcile any differences with Ronaldo. Whereas after the 06 WC, he and CQ were very keen to patch things up immediately.

'Leaks' is in fact a favourite method of bringing the news to the public to guage opinion without the messenger being shot.

Anderson seems like a nice kid. I hope he would put a transfer request if he wants to go in the future. At the moment, not only united fans thinks Ronaldo lacks that character to say what's needed.

He's lacking common sense, his family can be blamed for some of that. I notice they've gone quiet. Maybe they agree they are slaves. They should remember the shite hole they come from and have some humility.

That's the point that really confuses me. Ronaldo, who came from nothing, who was living in the dirt and under poor circumstances, now living with all the luxury a man could think of comes along with such a statement.

When did we use the media to purchase a player. And i seriously don't think Ronaldo telling them to shut up will make any difference to Marca.

He just needed to take a look at how he was protected after his small clash with Rooney at WC 06. I thought he'd get a lot of booooooooos. But supporters, but more importantly, the manager and Wayne himself stood by him and supported him.

Why can't he think of that? He's got a big head right now because of all the attention he got from last year.

I think you need a dose of humility with that statement.

nonsense, because i live in a shitehole but do you hear me complaining?? Many people live in places they'd rather not - but we don't suggest we're slaves to life's inhumanity...

Have you seen the pictures of where he used to live? It was a shitehole. It's that simple

Anyone that's suffered - if you learn NOTHING from it, then something is wrong

Most people would be happy with what they have, because they know the other side of the coin...at least they should do.

David Beckham has weighed into the Cristiano Ronaldo saga, telling the Portuguese winger to leave Manchester United.

Ronaldo has been at the centre of a heated tug-of-war between the Old Trafford outfit and Real Madrid this summer, and complained last week that he is being treated like a slave.

DAVID BECKHAM Said Beckham: "If someone asked me if Cristiano Ronaldo should go to Madrid I'd say 'Yes'.

"Real Madrid is a dream for any player so, of course, he would be a tremendous signing for Madrid and their fans.

"All the best footballers want to play at the Bernabeu at some point in their careers.

Get bang up to date with all the latest transfer rumours and tell us your own gossip right here... "It is a unique experience in football.

"I will try not to get involved - it is not my business. But I do know that, in football, anything can happen.

Has he criticised the place where he grew up?

Has he said anything bad about Manchester/UK?

I doubt very much he understood the connotations of the word slavery - he just either just agreed with the reporter without thinking the matter through, or was badly advised.

I hope those quotes are out of context or something! Can't imagine Becks saying/doing anything against United.

But that is not the point Sultan. He has everything here and yet wants more. As a footballer that's just won the double - why would you want to go madrid?

some people would say, you cannot top what we achieved - but some would say you can and retaining trophies make great teams

The worst thing he's said about manchester, is the weather.

I think he was advised but Ronaldo like someone mentioned is easily led and I just think he needs reminding what he has here.

He has everything here to be there best, there is no reason to want to go. I understand people want new challenges etc - but that's mostly a cover up, and anyway we have titles to defend.

You sign a contract only last year, you surely have plans to stay. How can someone be as fickle as to forget his friends and what he's come from to what he's achieved?

For me, his family (if the quotes are true), want to go to spain. They should move rather then keep on at Ronaldo to move.

Ronaldo should tell them that. They're not joined to the hip and if he wants to move on in two/three years, fine.

Ronaldo, once fergie straps him down, really needs to be shown what he has here. Ronaldo needs to realize moving isn't always the answer and sometimes, what you have is right for you.

Sadly, I think he has the mentality of a five year old who really seems to have no apprication of how lucky he is - through hard work but also the selflessness of his team mates and support of the fans.

Just give up trying to look at it from a fans perspective, it's too far gone. We sound like scorned lovers. He is not a fan, and has his reasons for wanting to move.

no.......

the day we start caring what we sound like on the internet is the day we might as well all give up

The situation is this - we don't know what sir Alex will do

Therefore, people have to be rational so that whatever happens, people know how to deal with it.

Say if we never discussed the possibility of him staying, and he stayed....how'd people react?

He's not a fan of the club, no - but he's not a madrid fan either. so there is no emotional pull there. Paddy asked him and he said Benfica.

Now you might know something others don't, but the fact is no smegger can say what will happen. You could argue after the world cup he wanted to leave , and he did say a lot of crap then too but we kept him and the last two years have been fine.

I would say leave it to Sir Alex, and have said. There has to be reason in anything otherwise people might as well start posting porn pics :smirk:. Now that's a thought

ROBSON TIPS RONALDO TO STAY

Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson believes Cristiano Ronaldo is happy at Manchester United and will remain with the club despite the public overtures of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Robson, who is back with the Red Devils in an ambassadorial role, was the subject of overseas interest himself during his playing days but eventually opted to stay with the club.

Now he believes Ronaldo, who is currently out for up to three months after undergoing ankle surgery, will shrug off the media circus which has tracked his every move since Real's interest first came to light and follow suit by committing himself to Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Former Middlesbrough and West Brom boss Robson told the Daily Star Sunday: "In 1983 I was wanted by three Italian clubs - AC Milan, Sampdoria and Juventus.

"Transfer fees weren't as high then but it would have been a world-record fee - only for United to price me out of a move.

"It was a similar situation to the one Cristiano is in now, in that United wouldn't let me go for what would have been a world-record fee.

"I was happy to stay and I think Ronaldo is happy at the club too. He might have small doubts but I think all the media hype and what has been coming out of Spain has really blown the situation out of proportion.

"And I see Ronaldo, once he is over his ankle operation, being part of the team."

I had the same thoughts until Ronaldo agreed with Blatter about the slavery thing.

Kaka Tips Ronaldo As World's Best

Current World Player of the Year, AC Milan's Kaka, has confessed that he believes Cristiano Ronaldo has now replaced him as the world's best player.

Kaka, who won both the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year Awards in 2007, has tipped the Manchester United winger to replace him as the world’s best player after the Portuguese star helped his side to a Premier League and Champions League double.

Ronaldo enjoyed a remarkable season last time out scoring 42 goals in all competitions and picking up the PFA Player of the Year Award.

Now, the Brazilian Kaka has revealed he thinks Ronaldo will replace him as the world’s best player. Speaking to the media, he said: “I believe that the number one candidate is still Cristiano Ronaldo, above all for what he did and won in the Champions League with Manchester United.”

Ronaldo scored the opening goal in the Champions League final against Chelsea and although the Blues equalised and the game ended level, Manchester United triumphed on penalties.

Whilst Ronaldo came third in the 2007 poll behind Kaka and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Kaka confessed that he doesn’t expect to top the lists again this year. AC Milan suffered a disappointing campaign in Serie A last season finishing fourth but a massive 36 points behind champions and city neighbours Inter.

Despite this, Kaka revealed he was looking forward to the new season and a chance to improve on last season’s poor league form.

“For me there's still half a season, so we'll see,” said Kaka before adding, “It will be a different season with lots of new inspirations.”

An interesting editorial from Soccernet's freelance writer, Mark Payne:

Enhance Your Calm
We all need to calm down a bit here. As I keep stressing the situation has not changed. Ronaldo gave an interview and said that he agreed with Sepp Blatter and it has been twisted into 'Ronaldo Wants Out of Slavery Shocker', by those stout chaps in Fleet Street, pages need to be filled in the papers.

What Sepp Blatter said was in direct support of player power and freedom of movement. I think you will find that every single professional football player on the planet would agree with him. But if Ronaldo says he agrees with him we all read...'Ronaldo Wants Out of Slavery Shocker' and are led to believe that it is gospel when it isn't.

The man who decides who goes in and out the door at Old Trafford is Scottish, and probably in a very bad mood right now. I once met a sage old chap in the pub who informed me with great confidence that Blatter was in fact a complete prat and that he should not be allowed to speak at all. I, of course, thoroughly disagreed with his opinion (it would be libelous not to), but thought his point of view was interesting.

Ronaldo has had his head turned by all of this interest and he stands nothing to lose by making a few cryptic comments here and there, it might make him a bit more money. He does have a wandering eye which some people use to character assassinate him. He's a 23yr old bloke so be realistic, remember the 23yr old Giggs? Fergie will sort him out when he gets back, the papers do not make decisions for that man. Besides, the guy has been out of the country for ages now and probably doesn't realise what a fuss he has stirred up.

Honestly, I can't wait for the games to get going. When we are subjected only to the 'football machine' and not the matches themselves I start to wonder if I enjoy football or just suffer from it. This saga is overwhelmingly disappointing and it is not going to end yet. Did we even get a full day to enjoy winning the European Cup before all of this started?

That Boy Ronaldo
He plays for the Reds. He plays for whites?
Well who knows. It seems as though over the course of the last week the debate has shifted from will he/won't he, to one for justifying the reasons why we should in fact sell him.

Two things appear to be clear, Ferguson doesn't want to sell him and he wants to go. I, for one, am not in the business of testing the big man's resolve on any matter, so I feel it is still a matter of whether or not he goes, rather than simply when and for how much.

History backs me up on this. After the last international tournament Ronaldo publicly stated his desire to leave for Real Madrid only to be talked out of it and quickly hushed upon his return to Manchester. You will have read by now that he has gone on holiday and the state of play has still not changed. Same as last time.

The reasons being mooted for selling him are as follows. Firstly the money. Yes we would get a big pile of cash off the Spaniards but there is no way that £60million would buy us a winger and a goalscorer of such quality in such a short space of time.

"But the Glazers might want it to pay off the debts," I hear you cry! Well that's their problem, I am assuming they have some kind of business plan which didn't involve unexpected piles of money landing on their laps so they can stick to that.

No player is bigger than the club. I agree with this one, and there are those amongst us who still rue the sales of RVN and Sir David but the precedent has been set and we should stick to it. I actually don't think that he has got to that stage yet, he still plays for the team and is not asking for outlandishly special treatment around the club. His training is legendarily diligent and as such his professionalism is still sound enough for United.

He doesn't want to play for us so get rid. Fair enough and this is the argument that will be the clincher for most of us but to me it smacks of, well, being a bit self-defeatest. It is important to remember that this guy can do stuff that nobody else can do, he really is that good, and if he plays he will play well of that I am sure.

But the reason I really want to keep him? If he stays I think we can make it in Europe again next year. And you know what? Ferguson agrees with me.

The Wizard of Fergoz
And so it comes to pass, the hybrid creature that is Fergoz has struggled for too long and must tear itself back into separate entities once more.

Well what do we think of Carlos? He has been made the scapegoat on many occasions for United's brief, fallow, period of 4-5-1ness but the facts look upon him kindly. The only league titles we have won in recent years have been on his watch and as such he should be judged favourably.

It has taken time, but his pragmatism has finally found a way to marry itself to Fergie's 'all eggs in the striker basket' approach and it has brought us Europe again. I wish him all the best and etc. but am more concerned by how this effects our club in the immediate future.

The papers have instantly latched on to his Portugeseness and how that 'may' alter the home address of Mr. C. Ronaldo, but they're just looking to put more miles into that story.

The key thing is that our 66 year old manager gets a replacement in to help him run the club soon and prefereably, obviously, somebody good. Carlos has been making 'I want to move up in the world' type comments for a year now so you hope that The Wizard has a few files ready to be looked at. I, for one, had the notion they might hit up Hughesie when this happened, but his dreadful alignment with Mordor now rules that out.

So what to do? Here's an idea, promote Mike Phelan to the bench and have Giggsy and Neville do a year as part time player-coaches, grooming them for future things. It is not as if they are ever going to leave United, and it is a good solution because Carlos is pretty much gone.

Kaka is class. He is the kind of player we should be looking to sign.

very classy . wait - is this the same kaka that whenever rm comes calling he cries to galliani for a pay raise. the guy has had his contract upped like 3 times in 4 years. classy indeed.

"I have a contract with Milan until 2011, I am not in a hurry to renew it and neither are Milan," Kaka said. "Florentino Perez must talk with Berlusconi. If they find an agreement OK, otherwise I stay here."

fast forward some eight months and ronaldo was saying the same things.

Forgive Ronaldo please

1. He is still young, and immature to handle situations like this.
2. Ronaldo doesn't know what Blatter really meant by slavery, he probably took it wrongly and assumed that Blatter was helping him to leave, so he agreed with him unknowingly.
3. People in Manchester United know this, that's why they are all keeping quiet about it, because they know leaving Manchester United is not what Ronaldo wants.
4. Show some respect for him, he has contributed very much in the last few seasons, giving 200% best on the field.
5. It is a time when he is more confused than ever, we fans should stick beside him and offer our moral support, rather than go against him, for the sake of the the team and Manchester United.

So please, forgive Ronaldo for whatever misunderstanding he caused. We've had a bad summer, and we could do without anymore harsh hurting words.
