ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

When you're in negotiations you never let the other person know how badly you want something then they'll say ...well he'll stay no matter what so no more money for him ....its simple...It has nothing to do with him not loving the club or wanting to play for United ...when will you lot get it through your thick skulls and stop infesting the board with ronaldo speculations

Thats way off the mark. If you believe there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way ronaldo has been conducting himself you are kidding yourself.

What part of "ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation" is confusing people?

That is the last time we merge duplicate threads. We will just delete future ones.

How many times does Ronaldo have to say he's happy here and wants to stay for all this nonsense to stop? Yes, he may say he doesn't know what the future holds, that doesn't mean that he's thinking about leaving, it just means nobody knows what the future will hold.

that's the point, isn't it? - it won't matter what he says between now and the start of next season.

Ronaldo has stated that he wants to stay. SAF has abused a Spanish journo live on tv, and told him to shove off if he thinks Ronaldo will be transferred etc.

the fact is, Ronaldo is big news. he sells papers, tv spots, the works. so no half-baked journo worth his mediocre monthly stipend is going to let the story fizzle out just like that. they're gonna make insinuations, quote out of context, or outright make shit up. it's par for the course in the sordid world of sports 'journalism', as evinced by the indubitable talents of Shaun Custis, and such luminaries of integrity as AS and Marca, true bastions of dispassionate, accurate and impeccable journalism and an example to all.

what really surprises me is people are still buying this shit.

and by choosing not to inform the media of his future intentions because its none of their damn business is a bad way to conduct himself....I don't think so

Get real. Making open ended statements about your future while your team is preparing for a champions league final when u could just end speculation... saying different things to english and spanish media... either contemplating a move to madrid in public or pushing for more money in public after you signed a new deal last year... his advisors quite obviously indicating to madrid that it is a possibility this summer...

It is the fans, teammates and Fergie who he is not making his intentions clear to. I want him to play here for the whole of career as much as anybody else but as i said if u think he has not played a part in this you are kidding yourself.

What about the supporters?
None of our business or right at all to know whether he intends on staying at United or not?

And do you not see anything wrong at all in Ronaldo in one interview being asked if he'll stay says "yes I will"
and in the next one few minutes later being asked the same question saying "well, I can't promise."

None of those interviews were either made up by the media but are recorded on video/audio.....

He'd said that, albeit very subtly, for about 2,931 times in the last year or so, if I count them correctly.

Follow by - "We'll see, in 2 to 3 weeks. I make no promises but you all know I want to play in Spain, its my dream. I want to stay"

He says the right things but then continues to leave the door open, which is why some of us are a little disappointed with Ronaldo.

Great post.

This should be a sticky at the start of this stupid thread (which is gonna go on and on and on all summer, btw)

Cristiano Ronaldo could make a definitive step in forcing his exit from Manchester United by putting himself on the transfer list. (Spanish sports paper Marca, 0815 BST)

:nervous:

I read that article, and it's one of the silliest I've seen. It's basically explaining what the transfer list is, and that Ronaldo COULD ask to be on it.

99% of the reporting on this story has been manufactured bollox, where old quotes are relentlessly spun to imply whatever AS/Marca want them to.

Genuinely surprised that so many caftards are still getting led by the nose by all this bullshit.

can we just ban all talk of ronaldo to madrid from the caf? Maybe ronaldo to chelsea or ronaldo to milan should be fine, but ronaldo to madrid should be taboo...

This is going to happen every year, trust me. So what if, after all this saga ronaldo signs a new 5 year contract with us with 150000£ a week? Next summer, we'll still get stories from Marca etc saying that Madrid will offer him 200000£ a week plus the pick of spanish whores, offer united 100£ mil plus casillas, robben, robinho, sneider, etc....on and on and on...

Even if the lad signs a 10 year contract with us this will never stop. Its just going to go on an on and on.

I find it ridiculous that we have to renew his contract 1 year into 5. Maybe he'll sign another five year one, and next year we have to renew it again.

Lets just ban all ronaldo to madrid talk

Marca are the spanish equivlant of the Sport when it comes to sports news. Worse still its Madrid funded who Real aren't corrupt? What a load of shite, go on United feck em over and report Madird to FIFA!

FIFA know exactly what is going on, they will do nothing about it. Perhaps they will issue a statement in which they will condemn Real's acts but they won't punish them in any civil way.

What's to be nervous about?.Marca=The Sun

they're cheeky bastards. Wanna slap em - but anyway yawn

Do you speak Portugese or Spanish?

Cause every interview he's given in English contains the phrase "I want to stay", which is kind of definitive, no?

All the other shite is courtesy of our friends in Marca/AS.

I don't, no.

"I want to stay" followed by other statments of how he dreams of playing in Spain and its an honor that Real are interested etc. Followed by, we'll see in 2 to 3 weeks. That leaves the door open for uncertainty and rumors, which it is doing.

Even the interviews in which he gives in spanish are translated on SSN. And he's basically echoing what he said in English since we won the Champs League.

You can argue that he's after a new contract or whatever (even though he signed a new one a year ago after various rumors of the same kind) but the fact is all he as to say is "I'll be playing for Manchester United next year".

Ronaldo loves to be the center of attention...this summer saga certainly could entertain him. If Rooney can achieve his full potential next season, we won't be be that desperated to read what Ronaldo wanna "dream" in every other day.

Real Madrid claims to have calm things down and now this?

Real Madrid fitness coach Valter di Salvo says Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo would have no problem adapting to Spanish football - Tribal football.

Real Madrid claims to have calm things down and now this?

Except he didn't actually mention Ron by name. Di Salvo was asked if Ron could adapt and he said I can't talk about individuals (because Real Madrid's operating board have ordered everyone to shut up). So they asked could a top Premiership player adapt and he said yes, and that a top Liga player can adapt to England.

Incidentally, last year when Di Salvo was still with us, he not only said that Ron wouldn't be leaving (that's before he signed a new contract) but that Ron wouldn't like it at Madrid.

I see. I wonder if the words in bold still stand though.

Real accept Ronaldo defeat
Calderon admits United will not part with winger

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon appears to be resigned to missing out on Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester United winger has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid despite the Premier League club's insistence that he will not be sold.

United threatened to report Real to Fifa earlier this week over their public pursuit of Ronaldo and Calderon now seems to have accepted defeat.

Calderon attempted to cool the row on Wednesday by stressing that Real would not try to sweet-talk Ronaldo into leaving Old Trafford.

He has reiterated that Real do not want to damage their relationship with United and admitted there is little point in tracking Ronaldo further.

"You can't buy what the owner does not want to sell," Calderon said on Sky Sports News.

"Real Madrid are friends with Manchester United and we do not want to fall out with them."

Looks like they have finally fecked off, till next year...Oh and I'm no friend of yours, prick!

Incidentally, last year when Di Salvo was still with us, he not only said that Ron wouldn't be leaving (that's before he signed a new contract) but that Ron wouldn't like it at Madrid.

I see. I wonder if the words in bold still stand though.

The interview that talked about that was vague (and in Italian) but the implication was that United are protective, and Ron can hide (from the media and everythng else) in the team when he wants to. Madrid wouldn't be as good at that.

Meanwhile, in today's instalment of the Spanish soap opera, Calderon says (one hour ago):
"We can't buy something that the owner doesn't want to sell. And we don't want to get into a row with a friendly club. As things stand - we must forget about it."

While Marca claims (on its frontpage this morning) that the current offer stands at 90million Euros.

And:
Allegedly, Scolari has not only advised Ron not to say anything to the press, he's advised him not to read it and to stay off the internet because it might distract him. Some combination of the transfer speculation and the tabloid coverage of Ron's girlfriend's assets - apparently.

he was asked at the conclusion of the match in Moscow whether he's leaving. he gave the inquirer a look and said abruptly : 'No, no, I'm staying'.

when giving interviews after our double, he's also said that he'd love for us to do it again next season. it's not as explicit as some stone-heads would like, but it is there.

he has reiterated that he'd love to stay, but does not know what the future holds. he has also said that he'd love to play in Spain some day (at no time has he mentioned he'd love to play for Madrid, contrary to what some creative historians on the Caf may have said); he has also added - and this is something pretty recent - that such a dream may not come true.

the boy is a WUM. i bet he's loving all the uproar. but at the end of the day, like SAF says, he knows what's good for him, and that is Man Utd.

Real resigned to Ron defeat

Real Madrid appear to have finally admitted defeat in their bid to lure Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United this summer.

The Old Trafford club have continually denied speculation linking the 23-year-old Portugal international with a move to the Bernabeu following his impressive season.

Ronaldo scored a remarkable 42 times as United secured a Premier League and Champions League double in the season just ended.

The Red Devils threatened to report the Spanish giants to FIFA over their public pursuit of Ronaldo and Real now appear resigned to the fact that the former Sporting Lisbon starlet will be remaining in Manchester for at least another year.

"You can't buy what the owner does not want to sell," admitted Real president Ramon Calderon, who has himself released several media statements revealing his admiration for the player in recent weeks.

"Real Madrid are friends with Manchester United and we do not want to fall out with them."

The BBC's gossip column is today stating that Ronaldo could be ready to demand he be put on the transfer list :(

To be honest i'm sick and fecking tired of all of this.

We've just won the Champions League for fecks sake and every day all i'm reading is how unhappy Ronaldo is.

The press need to get a life.

This is top stuff from madrid.

They somehow manage to assosiate themselves with ronaldo every day in the paper, whether its every player in thier team coming out and saying they'd love him there or whether its the president and coach declaring thier interest or whether its the club directors saying they can't buy him or afford him or united wont sell him or we won't talk about him anymore, they really know thier way to influence things.

The BBC's gossip column is today stating that Ronaldo could be ready to demand he be put on the transfer list :(

The BBC are paraphrasing Marca. Marca did an article explaining the concept of a player asking to be transfer listed to Spanish readers who are more familiar with the "release clause" approach. They chose to illustrate the article with Ronaldo as an explanation of how you can, if you're lucky and have a R an M and a D in your name, buy someone who is not for sale.

Nothing in the article from Ron or even one of those figures known as "sources"

The sources are back and this time it's the Godfather - last time we saw Ronaldo's godfather he was arranging for Ron's mum to do an interview with Spanish TV and get her photo taken with a photoshop of Ron in a Madrid shirt.

Today's AS has this from him: "We all like Madrid - when Madrid calls - it's difficult to say no."

Hopefully Ronaldo's football instincts will triumph!

Given the tone of some of the articles I'm wondering if Mendes is trying to get United to match Madrid's offer and basically add a bit of balance to an argument that currently runs something like: family + money + dream Vs United and football and reality

Meanwhile Ron in the pictures from an award ceremony and some other Portugal team P.R. stuff is looking like he'd rather not see another camera.
