Everyone knows this situation, we all wish he had the loyalty of a Neville but that was never going to happen. You just realised it a bit late mate.
the problem with that kind of expectation is that first of all Neville was never as good a player as Ronaldo has been in the past 2 years, and more importantly Neville is an Englishman, he's already playing at the club any British footballer would dream of playing when they were growing up as kids.
you have to understand that there's generally a difference in the taste or personal preference of footballers depending on where they come from. That's why you see most latin and south americans plying their trade in la liga and serie A. Do you seriously think an Argentine prodigy growing up in South America dreams of playing in England and watches the premier league day in day out? or are they more likely to dream about playing for the likes of barca and madrid?
The same goes for the likes of giggs, Neville and Rooney. They didn't grow up watching la liga, but the premier league and dreamt about playing for the likes of united. After all, they're British and the culture and surroundings at United would be more attractive to them. If they were snapped up by Real madrid at 18 and had to live in an entirely different country and culture, it's not inconcieveable that they'd very much prefer they were snapped up by United at 18...I think it's reasonable to say that if Rooney and Ronaldo were both bought by barca at 18, that Rooney would be more desperate to play for United at 23 than Ronaldo would....So I think that this should be put into perspective and thought about more objectively. I know it's frustrating but that's reality I'm afraid.
