Dear Cristiano Ronaldo

You are a great player and have provided us with magical memories, many of us will never forget.

Real Madrid and money may seem a great attraction, but we hope that this message reveals to you how loved you are at United.

You are playing for a great club, the Champions of Europe, playing under a legendary manager, playing with great teammates and playing for awesome fans, so we ask you to remain with United for a little while longer.

if we got lots of comments, signatures, etc. and the club got wind of it, Ronaldo might get to see it and be inclined to stay?

I know it sounds a bit strange, but why not try it?

Anyone know anything or could set one up?

A few hundred extra grand a week should do the trick.

Stop massaging his already inflated ego.

I am not sure whether someone has posted this idea.
There could be a solution to the Ronaldo saga.
I suggest that United can come to an agreement with Real and Ronaldo. since Real wants him so badly and Ronaldo wants to play for them, impose a transfer fee which can discourage and encourage at the same time. The scheme should be :
If Real to get Ronnie next season, transfer fee should be 300m.
with each year pass, a discount of 50m.
2008-2009 - 300m.
2009-2010 - 250m.
2010-2011 - 200m
2011-2012 - 150m
2012-end of contract or season - 100m.
This will discourage Real to get him early and encourage Ronaldo with the idea that he is the most valuable player in the world and if Real can affold him, they can have him with those prices.
United can delay loosing him and if really Real wants to pay 300M, United can buy some of the rest of the 'best" players and also, with the balance, they can "refinance" their debts.
if real cannot afford, then we get Ronnie to stay and can tell him that actually Real's talk but never walk. It was reported that Real can recoup 0.5b with Ronaldo there.
OK. I'll set it up tomorrow. What was that middle bit again?

Why is this now in the transfer forum?
Ronaldo's still a United player as far as I know...and United are being attacked by Real Madrid and the whole world is watching....and you relegate this to the transfer forum? I thought that was for incoming transfers.
Whoever did this is a real ass hole. No doubt about that.

Not guilty BR.

UNITED TO PROTEST 'REAL DEAL'

Manchester United have confirmed they will report Real Madrid to FIFA for continuing to publicly court Cristiano Ronaldo.

United issued a statement 11 days ago, saying they would report the Spaniards to world football's governing body unless they stopped trying to woo the winger.

Despite the warning, after Ronaldo was quoted as saying he wanted to leave United for Spain, Real president Ramon Calderon said it was an "hono0**" the 23-year-old wanted to play for them.

United chief executive David Gill reacted furiously to Calderon's latest public attempt to turn Ronaldo's head and instructed club officials to begin the formal process of reporting Real to FIFA.

Continuing his and Real's shameless pursuit of Ronaldo, Calderon said: "For Madrid it is an honour to know that a player like him thinks that playing at Real Madrid would be good.

"We are proud to know that he would like to be with us."

Gill's fury at Calderon's latest comments was compounded by suggestions Ronaldo's desire to join Real was designed to force United into giving him an improved contract.

It was reported in Spain that Ronaldo had agreed a deal to join Real, and it has been suggested Ronaldo and his advisers are using Real's interest to secure a rise on his £120,000-a-week salary.

Gill is said to have reacted angrily at the suggestion Ronaldo's camp were employing such a tactic and contacted Sky Sports News to stop them fuelling the rumour.

Out of all the shit I've heard over the past few days, I think the most important was what I just saw on Sky Sports. Ronaldo's mom said he's not going anywhere. "He's staying in Manchester."

Maybe the only person I'd believe in the world right now.

ahaha .. this thread needs a new graph ..

wasnt it at ~90 pages yesterday

this will have more posts than the tevez thread

Nonsense.

First of all, a lot can change in a season. Depending what happens here and at Real next season he may well decide on sticking where he is for another season after that. And another season after that etc.

Second of all, we will get no less money in a transfer next season than we will now. But we will get the services of the best player in the world to help us in our hunt for the holy grail, the "double double"

No-brainer really. If we can convince him to stay one more season we should.
Seconded

what if we just did a rafa and came out with a fee for them.

"You can have Ronaldo for £200m" no way would they pay that, end of matter

He will make his statement today when he scores against Turkey and lifts his shirt and sends his message!!

Man Utd 4 EVER! (I hope) or I STAY!

Real move would scupper Ronaldo's £25m Nike deal

By Neil Ashton and Ian Ladyman Last updated at 12:24 AM on 07th June 2008

Cristiano Ronaldo risks blowing a £25million jackpot with sponsor Nike if he moves to Real Madrid this summer.

Sportsmail can reveal that Manchester United, who will report Real to FIFA next week for their public pursuit of Ronaldo, are working on a complicated image rights deal with the club's kit manufacturer for a 'CR7' range in an attempt to appease the winger.

Michael Jordan was the first high-profile name to make a fortune this way when he launched his range and Tiger Woods has a 10-year deal with Nike worth £50m.
United's non- executive director Bryan Glazer, who was closely involved with the deal for shirt sponsor AIG, is in negotiations with Nike over a contract that could be worth another £100,000 a week to the Portugal winger.

The contract is expected to run concurrent with his existing £120,000-a-week package at Old Trafford and will effectively top the £200,000 a week on offer at the Bernabeu.

Come on Wibble...this is not about just "transfer speculation" There's a war going on between the two top teams in the World....they're talking 100M and then some for wages......all the world is watching. No ones interested in the Euros...they want to know whats happening with Ronaldo. United pride is at stake here. Our manager and Chairman are madder than I've ever seen them.
Transfer speculation......load o fkn cobblers.

Put it back where it belongs, cnut who did it.

They should say to Real - 100m + Raul and you can have the fecker.

Online petitions and all that stuff will just inflate his massive ego.

If he does not want to stay, there would be no point in keeping him.

Real Madrid: Man Utd's Ronaldo worth £500M
tribalfooball.com - June 06, 2008

Real Madrid are convinced Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo can be worth HALF A BILLION POUNDS to the club.

That is the real reason the Spanish giants are ready to spend £75million on the Manchester United superstar - to recapture the 'wow factor' that left the club when David Beckham went to the States.
Madrid are prepared to pay that world-record fee because his arrival would have a huge impact on sponsorship, sales and TV deals.
The Portugal winger, 23, is seen as the man to bring Champions League glory and bolster the image of unpopular president Ramon Calderon.
A Real source told The Sun: "The club want Cristiano for many reasons.
"The obvious one is that he is the best player in the world and Madrid is the biggest club in the world.
"But he would be a great commercial asset and he could be worth up to 600m (£480million) over a 10-year period.
"Beckham helped Real overtake United as the club with the highest proceeds.
Ronaldo could be the difference in the next five to 10 years."
