Real Madrid: Man Utd's Ronaldo worth £500M

Real Madrid are convinced Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo can be worth HALF A BILLION POUNDS to the club.

That is the real reason the Spanish giants are ready to spend £75million on the Manchester United superstar - to recapture the 'wow factor' that left the club when David Beckham went to the States.
Madrid are prepared to pay that world-record fee because his arrival would have a huge impact on sponsorship, sales and TV deals.
The Portugal winger, 23, is seen as the man to bring Champions League glory and bolster the image of unpopular president Ramon Calderon.
A Real source told The Sun: "The club want Cristiano for many reasons.
"The obvious one is that he is the best player in the world and Madrid is the biggest club in the world.
"But he would be a great commercial asset and he could be worth up to 600m (£480million) over a 10-year period.
"Beckham helped Real overtake United as the club with the highest proceeds.
Ronaldo could be the difference in the next five to 10 years."

there you go then , thats his worth, therefore that's what his transfer fee should be - £480m

Real can't afford him right now. The club could demand 50m at minimum. I think he sticks around through the World Cup and then he's off probably.

If Barca are willing to pay £32 million for Adebayor Ronnie must be worth twice that much . He's worth £50 million a year in marketing rights alone , ask for £100 million see what the feckers come back with

You really love this, you lot. Sorry to break the self indulgence but the only thing that makes sense is what has been mooted already and virtually verified by his Mother. If we agree to do a deal, he's happy to go. If we don't, he's equally happy to stay. Ronaldo's not the cnut here, it's Calderon, who's getting more desperate every day to save his skin. If I was a Madrid fan, I'd be bleedin' embarassed by his behaviour. It won't help their view, either, if they end up reported to FIFA whatever FIFA may or may not do. Calderon's tried everything according to reports (Ha!) direct to Glazers, telling Ronaldo to 'go on strike'. A couple more days and he'll be jumping off a building. Suicide 'll be the only thing left for him.

And I speak as somebody who thinks we should sell to go for the likes of Messi and Huntelaar, even before any of this shit. As good as Ronaldo is, the likes of those two would be better business. But it won't happen.

:wenger:

In my opinion if he wants to leave then we should let him go. There is no point in keeping an unhappy player

So, Ronaldo Leaving would mean that; we would lose a potential world beater. (No!), we have another one ready to take the limelight and that is our own english wonder boy Wayne Rooney.

Hopefully :nervous:

At close inspection of his utterings he does not say he won't play for United, he's saying that he wants to play for Real - which he has always said.

These conditions/negotiations have to be fulfilled and the outcome doesn't depend on him.

So Madrid, put up, or shut up.

Thing is when it comes to replacing him we cant do with players Nani, Anderson etc That would be a huge step down (even though those players have the potential). And there really are just one or two players in world football on a similar level as Ronaldo. Personally i just Messi as the only one and i dont know if we can ever get him.

Still want Ronaldo to stay, definitely. All of this is just worst case scenario thought.

Exactly

That's basically it. The media are twisting his words and publishing their own interpretation. Ronaldo has NEVER said he 'wants' to leave, but he has always said he'd like to play for Madrid. Some people here have fallen for the media circus.

Ronaldo will never reject Madrid outright, that's just not him. At best I think he will respect United and SAF if they insist on rejecting any Madrid approaches. It's good news to hear that SAF has gone to his camp because he strikes me as someone who is easily swayed, as portrayed after WC2006 when SAF and Queiroz successfully convinced him to return, and this time Madrid must have sent someon to directly or indirectly influence him and unsettled him.

Deprogramming? I'm picturing something akin to that scene in Clockwork Orange where that blokes eyes are held open and he's forced to watch loads of unpalatable images of Nazis and suchlike. Only in this case it'd be close-up pictures of Ruud Van Nistelrooy's face over the soundtrack to The Omen.

:lol::lol:

What a thought!

We've won 15 titles and 2 European cups before Ronaldo. Him leaving makes no difference at all. We are not some small club like Napoli who had no history before and after a great player.

I've always thought that -- he seems fairly easily manipulated, in the nicest way possible. Madrid come calling and his head gets turned, and then he gets convinced to stay where it's best for him: here.

I fear this circus may become yearly as long as that remains the case.

This thread has got to be pretty pathetic

His Mum said he's staying... That is the most reliable thing we've heard by far.

This is in essence confirmation of about a dozen posts I've placed in the past couple of weeks. All this moronic 'feck him - if he wants to go then take the £50/£60/£75/£100 million and tell him to feck off - we can spend the money buying Klaas Jan Other, A.N. NoMark and Karim WhoHe. Good riddance!'

Half a billion eh. Anyone want to bet me that the Glazers don't understand as much?

Anyone want to bet me he's not staying?

Thought not.

Thread over.

Agreed. But they ain't got it and we won't sell which is why Calderon is scraping the barrell in his behaviour. He's a dead man walking at Real.

Strange thing to say. We also went without a big trophy for three years before Ronaldo became the player he did. Barcelona suddenly became rubbish once Ronaldhinio went out of form. Arsenal have done feck all since Henry was at his prime (ok not that they ever dominated the league). Real struggled when they lost Makelele for a long time only to be saved by Barca becoming shit.

Who said we wont be a big club? Whose saying we'll win feck all after Ronaldo? Its doubtful that we'll struggle much but having just won the double and being Manchester United the aspirations are greater than just sitting on the back of our recent and past successes and thinking success will come. Infact success doesnt come that way.

And my post was directed towards the footballing aspect. Its very important for us to make sure that IF Ronaldo goes, we bring players in to possibly improve our team from last season. That will most probably happen if we replace him with someone of similar quality.

So i dont know where your pulling out my claim that we wont be successful from. Its simply not there. We will be. How much you can never say. What we can do is try to be successful. In this particular case that would be either keeping him or replacing him with player (s) that improve us. Its not very hard really.

Ronaldo has to shoulder some of the blame - he signed a new contract last year with four years top sun. All he has to do to stop the speculation is pubically commit his future to United and that would be that.

Personally I'm disgusted by his behavior and his team mates in the Portugal camp must be too - all this attention making it difficult to prepare for the Euro's.

If he wants to leave let him - no player is bigger than the club. It's a stupid decision on his part - why leave the best league in the world and arguably the worlds best club to play for the Real Madrid circus.

He is potentially on the verge of something magnificent at United in a young side which will continue to improve and could dominate the PL and Europe for years. A move to Madrid may make him wealthier but if he's not scoring hat-tricks week in week out, and winning everything under the sun he'll get the shock of his life when the Spanish press get going.

He'll be here next season but his behaviour has been a bit cnutish and disrespectful to the club & fans. He shouldn't be making statements about discussing his future after the Euros, or saying he'll announce his decision in x number of days, the club hasn't accepted any bids for him and he has ages left on his contract, so there is no decision for him to make and no need to fuel the media speculation.

FFS, why don't we just play the game according to their rules? Just make a formal bid for Sergio Ramous, Robinho and Iker Casillas. I mean, just fax the offer and play the whole damn thing up through the media to unsettle the three of them, esp when Robinho is looking for a new contract. If Real Madrid accepts, then we will do get some of the best players in their respective position and CASH. If nothing comes through, it thrills the fecks out of all of us and everybody's happy, except those Madrid cnuts.

The difference being they are probably not open to moving to us, so it wouldn't unsettle them all that much.
