Thats pretty much spot on.

But I'm surprised he hasn't made an official statement in the last 24 hours or so. Have Man Utd made a statement regarding this interview with Terra where he allegedly states he wants to join Madrid?

I can understand why some people are thinking he's leaving. I don't understand the ones calling him a cnut or the ones who say they want him to leave even if he comes out and says he wants to stay, thats just madness.

Maybe he's concentrating on the Euro ...

He makes a good point though, do you really think FIFA will punish Madrid? And if they do will it really hurt them?

At the very most they'll get a slap on the wrist or some lousy fine which is mere lunch money for all the cnuts involved in that club.

Well, we would say FIFA will be wrong if they are only punished slightly without repercussion! That's what rules against tapping, and law of contract is about. If the Authority who has the power to make a proper decision on merits, and the fans (and anyone else) believe they have no power or guts to make the right decision, do we still have faith in the Authority?

I know I know... those men in suits in FIFA have little guts to do the right thing! But that doesn't mean we should be deterred to do the right thing, i.e. making a formal complaint!

Now don't get me wrong, the bookies d feck up sometimes and there isn't a huge disparity between the odds, but if it were so certain that he is going to leave would the move not be rather shorter?

One minute he claims he wants to stay here for many years, the next he admits a madrid move is tempting. After our CL triumph he makes it clear he wants to stay, now he's thinking....hang on Madrid...I quite fancy that. On top of that, if he supposedely treated Sir Alex, a man that has brought where he is today, by banning him from the Portugese training camp, is disrespect of the highest grade.

That my friend, is making a mockery of our club.

You are making a mockery of yourself.

One minute you claim your name is Red, the next you admit it is Kaos. After the CL triumph you thougt "Ronaldo is not that bad", now you're thinking ... hey, I've always preferred Steven Gerrard, I quite fancy him. On top of that, if you supposedly had intimate relations with a Libanese baboon not in heat, without consent, last thursday night, it is disrespect of the highest grade (to say the least).

That, my comrade, is making a mockery of yourself.

Ladbrokes had him 9/4 to start at Real Madrid yesterday. So the odds are shortening, that's for damn sure.

But they are only reflect the betting patterns. And most bets are probably being placed by the same knee-jerk spackers populating this thread.

The ironic thing is if this whole saga has been made by Ferguson and Gill to distract Ronnie from poaching our real targets. They can chase Ronnie all summer and Ferguson and Gill can stick 2 fingers up at them.

If he is sold, we'll get a boat full of money which will be made available to the manager. The Glazers aren't stupid. You don't sell one of your best players and not replace him with someone else.

Horrible post (along with your last couple) but that really takes the biscuit. If it takes being "arrogant" for a player to be determined to win trophies I hope that if/when Ronaldo does leave we replace him with someone who is just as "arrogant"

It does, probably.

Football, image and whatnot being the most important things to Ronaldo...he will stay here. The slightest blip and he will jump ship but while he is adding to his bucketload of medals then i cannot see him leaving.

Poor effort.

Maybe he is. I'm sure he could spare a moment though. It would only take a matter of minutes. All this speculation can't be doing his or Portugal's preparation any good.

I'm fairly sure the entire Portugal squad are banned from making press releases and interviews. Which could be one reason he can't come out and say so. That also casts doubt on the authenticity of the Brazilian newspaper report, of course.

Right, i am better caught up now, though i do wonder where you have got nine pages oc chatter from lol, not like anything signficant happened this morning from what i can gather.

A little surprised that a fair few of you are still in complete denial on the issue.

As somebody quite rightly pointed out on...oh i forget the page number, anyway they put to the doubters that if it were not so and there had not been this interview, even Ronaldo who apparently struggles to find his voice at the minute would have released a denial.

Yes he has said that he would stay at the club and that he is happy here, equally he is also backtracked faster than a French/Italian tank and left the way open for his exit.

Yes Real Madrid's actionsare wholly lacking integrity but if you cannot also see that Ronaldo is culpable here, well *holds up hands in despair* then you are beign rather naive i would say.

yours are the best i have read so far.
I know y'all are trying to act brave and are dreading his decision but face it and get on with it. He has acted as a cnut in the whole saga. A decent player would have distanced himself from all this speculation or have confirmed in the open his decision he is making himself more and more unpopular and is ruining his chance of staying in Man United, if that is what he is really wanting from the inside with a huge pay hike.

Arrogance doesn't win trophies, humble people are liked by everyone more than arrogant. Kaka and Messi are humble and grateful Ronaldo takes things for granted. Don't you think? Have you heard of Kaka and Messi doing that to their clubs? Yet they get good pay. Kaka is the best paid in the world. He didn't need to play a drama queen like Ronaldo to secure his pay.

Ere yar.

Ronaldo staying in England, says mother
06/06/2008 - 12:31:38 PM

Cristiano Ronaldo‘s mother Dolores Aveiro was quoted today as saying her son would be staying in England.

"He is fine where he is," said the Manchester United star's mother was quoted as telling Portuguese television station TVI.

"The future only God knows, but what is sure is that he is going to continue in England."

You have absolutely no evidence that Kaka or Messi are in anyway more "humble or grateful" than Ronaldo.

The fact that Kaka is being paid significantly more money than Ronaldo might just be a factor in him being so "grateful", no?

No you are wrong. He has always been humble about things. At least in the press. who knows how they are like elsewhere.

Have you heard anything cocky from Messi or Kaka in the press. Messi is getting there but Kaka has been there done that as far as Ronaldo's achievements are concerned.

My opinion right now is this:

He would obviously be happy with a move to Real but I honestly don't think he would be upset at staying at United either. I think he is probably quite confused and unsure as to what to do.

Even if the quotes from yesterday were true he is simply saying that if the two clubs agree a deal he would he happy to make the move. He did not say he is desperate to leave United. Until I hear him say those words I will continue to lean towards him staying.

Well said but all this energy could be spent on new recruits rather than him solely wanting everyone's attention.

I don't think he helps himself if he's not going he should have said so weeks ago. However good ronny is I'll always prefer rooney and this is why we have this every year and to be quite honest if he wants to be a united let him say so or if not let him say so definatively. Whatever he decides there's alot of bonus' to us if he goes Nani steps up he may not score 40 goals but his crossing is better and after all a right wingers job is to get to the line whip a good cross in and with however many millions we get should be enough to get the quality striker we really need probably strengthen the team in other areas. The other bonus will be Free kicks before you lot start banging on about the couple of great ones against Portsmouth he rarely hits the target.

So Come on Ron make up ** mind Time so fecking eveyone around

My opinion too.

The key words in that article were "It's not up to me"

The comments from his mum seem to imply that family Ronaldo have accepted that United don't want to sell and he's happy to have any decision taken out of his hands. In a way, it mush be a relief to him, not having to make such a momentous decision. The whole "I stay" stuff shows that he's got no problem whatsoever with spending at least one more season at the club.

I just hope that the bruised egos amongst a large segment of the fans doesn't result in a backlash big enough to drive him away. Talk about biting off your nose to spite your face.

Wouldn't be too worried about that, if he says he is staying he will say he wanted to concentrate on the euros and it was up to the clubs to decide, he will say he is happy at united, loves it and loves the fans.

After that the fans will be once again flying the Ronaldo is the greatest flag.

Some people are severely emotional about this. They can't seem to stomach Ronaldo may want to play for another team even though he would be happy to continue playing for United. I agree with RedRichio untill Ronaldo says he definitely wants to leave then I will continue to back him.

Great point.

Fact is if he stays pretty much everyone will forgive him. If not I would have thought that he's pretty much unlikely to come in to contact with the large majority of people baying for blood on here.

Hopefully if he stays people will show him even more support to try and convince him this is his home.

What?

Not satisfied with winding everybody up with talk of a move to Madrid, he's now trying to sign players himself, even though he's not even club?

He really is a dirty winker.

I can see this one getting taken up in the papers.

"Ronaldo too big for any club in the world"

Sources close to Ronaldo have claimed that a football expert has stated that the Manchester United star will be starting his own team in 2008. Based in Madrid and Manchester Ronaldo FC will be looking to make their first signings after Euro 2008.

Ronaldo's Mum said she told him to do this when he was young and is thrilled he is living out her dreams.

Yes, he could probably make the best of it if he had to stay. We'd profit fro it too hopefully, though the illusion would be gone. :(

They say that ol' Jorge Mendes has been in talks with Madrid for a little while now, presumably is aware to some dgree. That should count for something and tends to suggest that he is more sure of his wants than you give him credit for.

Of course the above is the claim of a journo, courtesy grapevine news network, so there is that advisory and treat it how you will.

90% posters in this thread would like to kick him in the ass right now. And when he scores his first goal in the new season they would like to bum him in the same place.

And on top of that could it be that, god forbid, he does actually not want to think about it and to concentrate on the rather major tournament he's about to take part in.

To be completely honest, i think i would find it hard to get it up even if he scores alot next season, unless he comes out and publicly states that he would stay for the near future. I can't see that happening though, his own personal 'deadline' came and went and things aren't any clearer. Even if he stays, it might be just for another year.

I agree with this in principal, and I'm sure I'll find it a lot easier in practice when he's banging the goals in again next season, but at the moment I can't help but feel a bit of a mug giving him the level of support we have this season.
However much adoration we give him, it doesn't seem to make him feel any more attached to the club and fans. I suppose we just have to accept that he's entirely driven by self-interest - we'll get used to it soon enough, scousers don't seem to have any difficulty singing for Gerrard, after all!

Whilst I don't condone a desire to have bum sex with any member of our team, I am a bit bemused about why we should ony get behind (if you'll pardon the pun) players who have made a lifelong commitment to the club. Did I miss a memo?
