All-Ireland Championships '09

Im not sure why but stafford embodied everything I hated but respected about that Meath team.

Certainly one of the toughest county teams of modern times, gave Tyrone an awful kicking in 96 I think,I was most annoyed:smirk:

No mention of Stafford? I hated him with a vengance!

I loved Stafford.. In Fact I loved the GAA back then... Still hated Kerry & Tyrone.....

Thought your man Plunket Donaghy was a wanker

Still like a good old game of Gaelic Football although the play acting and diving has crept in to the game at an alarming rate.Dooher could win a gold for Ireland in the diving at the next olympics.Still remember with fondness the day big Plunket let the ball slip through his hands to give us the National League in 92

CL - we are not allowed be negative to Tyrone on this forum....

Shame really, but those are the rules laid out by some wankers

God they are a sensitive crowd ,great at dishing it out but not so good at taking it back.I refuse to support Tyrone rules or no rules

Hey you leave Dooher alone big lad. You'd love a player in your ranks of the calibre of Super Dooher. He does go down a bit but he also takes some hard knocks too bit like our Ronnie in some ways - obviously Dooher's the better footballer though :D

Right so, how do i go about givin a reply to your border county hatred of Tyrone, so not to be seen as cant take it but dishes it out! Jesus there's some whingers on here!!

Well, I went to Secondary School in Magherafelt & played with a load of the Doire lads past & present. Ronan Rocks, Sean Donnelly (asshole), Paul McFlynn - average, Enda Muldoon, Johnny McBride, Mickey Gribbin... I'm baffled how some of them actually made the county team. Only Jonny McBride was a potential star, Ronan Rocks - average with huge ego, Enda Muldoon - great attitude & has kept progressing - nice lad aswell... there's a few more that i've played with but the attitude was very poor one it has to be said. Alot of them were a bunch of dicks & what i hear now is that not alot has changed - right the way down from the Board!

As for Plunket Donaghy - class act!

As for Doire - i've always supported the Ulster teams & will continue to do so. Been to quite a few places to support Doire aswell - Croke Park for one (stood on the hill National League final in 95/96), Celtic Park many a time... my sisters ex - God rest his soul was an manic Doire fan so i went with him to support the team & that i did!

Anyway, there's a few on here from the North & good football men, so there's plenty to chat about with the boys regarding Gaelic & if your into Hurling aswell - being a good Dual County, there's a few from Kilkenny & afar. PJ is a Doire man & a top man it has to be said. Well balanced & very knowledgeable of the game, so look out for him - great lad!

Congrats on the National League victory this year btw

:boring:

Chip on yer shoulder eh?

Can't be arsed with ye.....

As I said.....

Just because you win an All Ireland does not give you a god given right to look down your noses at everyone.....

Give me Derry or Down over any Northern Team

Say again Tyrone good at dishing out but get very sensitive when taking stick back, you seem to be all the same.I cant wait for your lucky team of 2008 to inevitably fall of their perch

As much as Id like to agree they werent lucky they were clearly the best team in the country and ended being an outstanding bet to beat Kerry.

Kerry shot themselves in the foot and to be honest looked pretty disjointed from early on in the season.

Hit a bit of form at the right time and every thing went their way hopefully that wont happen again for years to come

"everything went their way.." - Yeah like John Devine's father dying the day before the All-Ireland final - great preparation for the biggest match of the Gaelic Football calendar!

Hitting form at the right time is key to winning a competition, you dont want to peak too early in a season, just as United have been doing the past season & a half. The backdoor has served us well i'll admit, as we get the necessary games to build on a lack of form, but its the players & the management that have made their own fortune - not luck as you keep suggesting!

We've also won Sam through the front-door aswell & aim to do that this season as we always do!

Backup has arrived. Been reading this thread and the previous for ages before promotion. Roll on the 31st to get another rattle at the dubs in Croker.

Good man - pleasure to have you on-board brother

Yeah goin to the Anniversary game with the missus - a Die-hard Kerry woman, but she'll be supporting the Red Hands, she even wants to wear my Jersey

It'll be a tough game tbh, I expect it to be a cagey affair due to all the emotions of the spectacle. I feel the Dubs will be well up for this one & rightly so & although it wont have a bearing on the Championship its a very important game not to lose.

Just hope Tyrone come into the game with alot more form than the Down game in the Dr McKenna Cup last week. It was good to see Stevie O'Neill back on the scoresheet with 5pts - albeit 3 from free's, still lovely to see his name against those type of figures!

Should be a great occasion & at only €20 odd for a ticket - its for nothing!

I'm sensing a good year. Kyle Coney turning his back on the AFL is a plus already.

Yeah that was fantastic news when I heard that. Coney is a great young player & I, like the rest of the County are delighted he shunned the Oval ball game - an inferior game altogether & Kyle found that out for himself!

I only hope others will follow suit. Tommy Walsh would be an immense loss to our game, he's returned home from AFL Club St Kilda but has hinted he may go after this year, he missed the deadline for the 2009 season but rumours are rife that he signed or verbally agreed to join St Kilda for the start of the 2010 season!

Knew my unbiest opinon would be of value to you.£8 to get into a Mckenna cup match flaming disgrace,as Brolly said last year even the McKennas dont go any more

Most certainly CL :)

Do you reckon thats expensive man?

Considering the Euro is pretty much neck & neck with the Pound, its alot more expensive down here. Most Cup games down South are €20 for adults & €10 for U-16's!

"even the McKennas dont go any more..."

£8 for a glorified friendly is outrageous,it would do no harm to let people in for free to these matches.Even someone had told me 10 yrs ago that I would pay £8 to get into a Mckenna cup match I would say no way.where are you living at?

It sure would be a great idea to let folk in for free, but if there's money to be made it has to be done i guess. The facilities are improving a helluva lot up North now, so i guess some of this money goes towards improving all areas of the Club... and with floodlights etc the electricty bill must be sky high

Living in Dublin past 9 years man, moved down straight after the Millennium

Don't start me on Europe! Don't want to get too off topic, but that's a real shame, the Christian Brothers are the definitive authority when it come to Ulster Irish.

Done the 7 years there myself! Actually enjoyed the craic there!

Would say there are very few of my old teachers left there now considering I left it in 1980.We were wild men in those days, mad mad times
