All-Ireland Championships '09

On a positive note - Good to see our Senior Footballers were not beaten this weekend

 Think that's what he's getting at! Though I never caught on 'til you pointed that out CL!

See Ricey got 6 weeks,if I were him I would not appeal he is getting off light

"The CCCC has recommended the suspension as a result of an incident in which McMenamin appeared to grab Paul Galvin in the groin area during the National League game between Tyrone and Kerry on Sunday 15 February..."

6 weeks suspension for tapping someone's groin?

If thats whats he's being banned for, then thats rediculous. If there's more to it - then why dont they say. If he got a red card then he'd be out for a few weeks not 6!

Kerry lads cant take the verbals by the looks of it, they can dish it out though!

8 Mar 2009 Derry v Kerry

14 Mar 2009 Dublin v Derry

22 Mar 2009 Derry v Galway

Some massive games there eh lads. The Dublin game i'll sure be there supporting ya's. Its on a Sat. It'll probably be at Parnell Park & not Crokers though, which would be a shame...

If any of ya's are going & wanna meet for a brew

Can't the suspension is unwarranted, but you make a very valid point about the Kerry folk.

But he has been acting up a bit recently, you have to admit that. On paper that's what it's for, bit I'd say it's for his general behaviour.

He only tapped Galvin in the balls for god sake man, thats hardly warranting of a 6 wk ban. I've seen worse than that & you have aswell!

I agree he should get a ban but not that length - its rediculous!

I would say the "spit" clearly photographed leaving his mouth influenced the committee....... There is no place for that in any sport!

Was talking recently to a well known all Ireland winner of previous times who on mention of our friend Mcmenamin said he would consider making a come back just to get a smack at him,I discouraged him of course

Galvin got booked for diving, so the ref thought the offence wasnt that bad, so why did the CCCC?!

Ricey's always been actin like that man - thats why he's so effective. You need an edge playin against great teams & put it up to them. Kerry hate us because we dont give a feck about how many All-Irelands they've won when other teams lay down & show them too much respect!

Francie Bellew has made a career out of this sort of thing & much worse in terms of taking players out of the game. Peter Canavan suffers from Asthma & Bellew would always dig Peter in the Ribs & Lungs area to knock the stuffing out of him everytime we played Armagh - dont recall him ever gettin vid ref'd & banned for 6 weeks!

So in your opinion the CCCC have an agenda with Ricey & have banned him accordingly?

Why didnt they mention that here: "The CCCC has recommended the suspension as a result of an incident in which McMenamin appeared to grab Paul Galvin in the groin area during the National League game between Tyrone and Kerry on Sunday 15 February..."

If they had of added in "....and for his unsportsmanlike behaviour towards a fellow GAA player..." - then i wouldnt have had a problem with that, but you'd have to ban players up & down the country then. The CCCC are aware of that but have shot themselves in the foot imo!

If you are charged with shoplifting you dont serve 5-10 years in prison, you get the punishment to fit the offence. Thats what Ricey should of got, which in this case would of been a month or a game ban, but they decided to add on another 2 weeks so he'd miss 4 games instead of 1 - thats well dodgy & Tyrone have every right to appeal the length of the ban & should win the appeal with a reduction to one month!

I dont expect an unbiased viewpoint from any of you but imagine that was one of your players, such as Paddy Bradley or young Kielt - you'd be well pissed off as the punishment didnt fit the offence he was charged for - FACHT!

No worries, you do have a few valid points there though. First I'm going to retract my comment about it not being unwarranted. The GAA are using this as a vehicle to punish him for other things, which is not right, but I very rarely agree with much the GAA overlords do.

That said, he does need to catch himself on though, and Harte needs to have a word. He is not doing himself, or Tyrone, any favours by getting himself such a reputation.

Cheers man, didnt mean to come across as having a go, just a little annoyed by the CCCC

He certainly does need to catch himself on alright man, he's got that psycho look in his eyes in alot of games he plays in - he's a feckin wild man, and ref's will be aware of this as they're attempting to make the make the game more attractive on the eye!

He's a good footballer & he's been great for us since he came onto the panel but he's an initimidator aswell & he's taking that shit too far, i'm not into that carry-on but i'd rather have him with us than against us.

There's alot of this goin on, it just gets highlighted more in the big games, such as the previous one. I like Gooch alot & it does irk me that Ricey really tries to feck with his head instead of just defending, but the Kerry lads arent shy of the mindgames themselves, and Galvin is a serious liability for himself & his team!

I dont know about you PJ, but when I went to St. Pius X, we had about 5 or more football trainers, one of whom was Brendan Convery of Lavey fame & Brian McIver - ex-Donegal. Now Brian was a very nice man but he knew what it took to get the best out of you, Convery just told you to knock the feck out of him at every opportunity but he was also a great trainer.

We had a training session in the gym with a "fitness instructor". He was a recently released Ra-man & the whole session was being shown how to get sly digs into your opponent & what occurred was us beating the shit out of each other as directed by him. He was a lunatic but we thought - feck it everyone's doin it so we might aswell!

Its not my cup of tea to be honest, i'd always be hard but fair on the pitch but if I got the rough treatment - i wouldnt stand for - i'd run home crying & screaming for me Ma :D

Forgive me redhand but seeing him get another two weeks has delighted alot of people in my part of the world, now me of course I like to be objective

Return To Poll
This poll on the RTE website is saying that the Irish nation does not think its too harsh, you are fighting a losing battle this time redhand

For tapping a player in the balls who got booked for making a meal of it??????

I look forward to any further incidents this year to see what the outcome will be.... and as regards to the poll - do you not think that there were maybe more anti-Tyrone people voting on that than there was pro-Tyrone?

Just my fecking luck - I've grown up with A.B.U now I have A.B.T (Anyone But Tyrone) to fecking contend with ffs.... Jesus Christ almighty

Anyway, the ABU thing hasnt worked out too badly, so maybe the other can work likewise!

The Ulster championship about 3 years ago Donegal lad grabbed Enda Muldoon by the balls ,Muldoon reacted ,thumped him and got 4 weeks. When the Gaa saw why he reacted on video the Donegal lad, cant remember his name got 4 weeks as well,so he aint the first.I think that really Tyrone cant complain about the treatment they received thanks to Fergal Logan they have got off with murder on one or two occasions
