Man City on verge of Sanchez signing
17.06.11 | Dave Williams

Manchester City scout Attilio Lombardo maintains they can “secure a deal for Alexis Sanchez pretty quickly,” reports Football Italia

City are competing with Manchester United, Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan for the Udinese player’s signature.

“We hope to secure a deal for Sanchez pretty quickly,” Lombardo is quoted as telling La Tercera newspaper in Spain.

Italian radio station Radio Mercato also confirm Manchester City are in pole position for the Chilean talent.

It’s reported Roberto Mancini’s club have offered €35m plus midfielder Vladimir Weiss to bring Sanchez to Eastlands.

Hope this BS, if true he is gone for the money............

I reckon he has agreed on the contract but that doesn't necessarily mean he will join shitty, we have to wait a couple of more days on this.

It wasn't that long ago that Lombardo was saying that City would not be siging Sanchez. I would take it with a pinch of salt.

Truth is, there's very little genuine news re Sanchez around at the moment; even 'foreign' football sites - and Twitter - are relatively quiet (compared to Modric & Sneijder speculation). It may simply be that he's busy considering options before making a decision.

If Sanchez goes to City, I will be very surprised.

It seems to me that Barca and City have been producing their own spin, yet United as usual keep their own counsel. When others were being linked to Jones and Young, even the occasional dead cert stories turned out to be pure shite. United stepped up their game and stole the players from under everybody's nose.

If he is for us, he won't go by us.

Now, here is a thought for those of you that may consider suicide if we are not successful. What would you rather have right now, Sanchez or a 22yr old Paul Scholes?

If you chose the latter perhaps you may be thinking we are in for the wrong player at this particular juncture.

Why would the city move be that surprising?
in the CL, finished level on points with Chelsea, will potentially offer much more money and will be contenders.

If he has a preference, I doubt it'll be city as United/Barca have been at the top for a while and city have only just started climbing up. Its unlikely that a player would consider city to be a 'dream move'.
But if the player just wants to move to a club where he can play in the CL, get money and compete for titles, city would be a serious option

what I find strange if the sanchez-city story is true are two things basically:
Intheknow99 got it right and perhaps the photo of gill in barcelona in this thread maybe a fake.....dont know which one is worse...

Taking the wages they offer into consideration, I'd say a VERY serious option.

Given that FFP kicks in this season, can they really afford to continue to give out such large contracts? I know that the owners are allowed to pump in cash for the first 3 years but thats only aroun £45m the first year iirc, which doesn't even go close to covering City's losses.

I refuse to believe that City are favourites, given that the Udinese president said himself that Barca were the front runners and City said a week ago that they had given up on him iirc. Can't see Sanchez having such a sudden change of heart.

Why has there been no post in an hour? fecking ametuers. Call yourselves muppets?

He is not signing.

Get over it.

Anyways I would prefer Nani over Sanchez anyways.

What we really need is a very very good mid fielder.

Tbh if given a choice between only one of Sanchez or Modric/Sniejder/etc.

I would choose the second option.

Same here. We don't really need Sanchez and we probably won't even get him and we really could do with a Modric/Sneijder player.

Read the first paragraph which he starts it off with a bit of sarcasm and then read his first point...

Try to imply that as something positive... I tried my best and wouldn't have wasted sheer time if it said that Sanchez is a great player, however it would have been better if his disposession stat didn't look that well....

I did try.

I leave this place for a dinner with my daughter on a nice restaurant and when I'm back - WAM! Some of you try to slaughter letrangerO because he raised two valid points.

Then you talk to us (who are a little bit skeptical) like we have never seen the new Messiah. Nobody disputes his talent and the fact that so many of the top clubs are interested speaks volumes about his quality's.

But there is a big issue in this story. We already have a couple of world class players on his position. Rooney, Nani and Valencia isn't exactly cat shit. And some maybe argue that Park is quite good too. So it's not crystal clear that we shall fork out approx £30+m (btw this would be the biggest transfer fee in this clubs history) on this new Sensation.

And I can't see why this stats aren't valid when we question his ability. If he loose the ball twice as much as our original forwards then the question is more than valid.

I have seen Alexis Sanchez several times, both for Chile and Udinese. He's a real talent and I'm sure he will become a great player. But. I'm not so sure he's our first priority. Not for £30+m. Even Barcelona stumbles over such a large fee

We need midfielders and if we have to chose between Sanchez and Modric I know my choice. And that includes Young btw.

Beethoven managed to master his craft in spite of being deaf. I'm sure Nani will go down the same route?

Oh God, all that talk about Rooney having to learn a second language in Spain.

Now he'll have to try to sign.

Sadly Sanchez looks gone too.

Sniejder is still available.

Because Barca and City are spouting off as usual and we are keeping quiet as usual. Well it worked for Cesc and Kaka I guess while we didn't stand a chance sneaking in and signing Berbatov.

If clubs are making lots of noises about signing a certain player it can reek of desperation - they are worried about another club

At the same time - if the Sanchez 'team' have gone to Barcelona to sort out his future it should give you an indication of where he wants to play

I think we might sign a couple of relative unknowns - think the key to us possibly getting Sanchez would be barca spending their budget on cesc

Why? because Barca and City have adnitted they are in talks for him, we knew that already just like we know United, Inter and Juve are in talks for him.

Rossi to Barcelona
Sanchez to Shitty
Modric to Chelsea
Henderson to Liverpool
Adam to United.

Sanchez team are in Barcelona as thats were Pozzo is based, and why David Gill went to Barcelona to speak to them and Pozzo instead of heading over to Udine.

I honestly believe Sanchez is not our priority.

Would love it if we sign him though.

I honestly believe Sanchez is not our priority.

I'd say right now he is our priority for the same reason Rooney was our priority in 2004 after Newcastle bid for him.

Ferguson clearly likes Sanchez and I think he was waiting for the right time to make a move but his hand was forced once the others got involved. He sees him as a talent too good to miss out on and too good to let our rivals strengthen with. Just like Rooney was coming into a strikeforce consisting of Van Nistelrooy, Forlan and Solskjaer and we had just signed Saha and Smith.
