Alexis Sanchez | Udinese: No Deal Yet

What i find interesting is Barca's involvement in this transfer, it is clear they have other targets and i hear they failed in a bid for Rossi for a fee of around £4om euros, unless i am mistaken their no1 priority is Rossi followed by Fabreagas.

Also, don't we have a first option on Rossi, if so would it not make sense that we work out a deal with Barca to allow Rossi join them and then allow Sanchez to decide between the other clubs.

I might be clutching at straws but i feel this maybe an option, i was disappointed last summer that we couldn't work out a deal with Real for Sneider when we sold Ronaldo to them or even come to an agreement on Benzema by making it clear that if they wanted Ronaldo then they should not pursue their interest in Benzema..

Do we lack foresight in our transfer dealings?

I'm not sure how this would work, Barca wouldn't have to work anything out with us as if we turned down the chance to buy Rossi at whatever price they now value him at then Barca could have a bid accepted without having to talk to us. I'd imagine the only way they'd ever have to work out a deal with us is if we purposely bidded for him in the hope that Barca then opened up talks with us and said 'please don't' etc.

I don't think so on this part, possibly on the Sneijder one but not Benzema, we had been watching Hernandez and only moved last year because of the World Cup performances before he got snapped up, I know Fergie wanted Benzema at one point but when you consider all the strikers we had plus the fact they were going to sign Hernandez means too many strikers. We had to send out Macheda on loan which we didn't want to do but had to because he couldn't get into the team. Adding another striker would have been even worse.

The rumour is we've been trying to sign him for the last 3 years but Udinese keep requesting us to come back later, until they got to this point where they have exactly what they wanted, numerous rich clubs bidding against each other.

We signed Hernandez 2 months before world cup

Bloody 'ell, you lot still going on about a player we're not even interested in?

Despite the fact that Udinese officals have confirmed we have placed a bid. Strange thing to do for a player we are not interested in.

Other than the fact thats it's been confirmed by Udinese that we have made a bid, we can still go on about him as it's a transfer story in the transfer section.

Any update here? With Modric now dead to me I want this player more than a man on death row wants a shag

Over the years we have supposedly placed bids for many players and in time United have come out and said that it's not true. If I'm not mistaken it happened last year with Sneijder.

It's the selling club's way of encouraging a bidding war and they can do that because they know full well that clubs will not comfirm or deny bids throughout a transfer window. A lot of "interest" apparently shown by clubs is just a tactic the selling club use to make their player more desirable in the market. The more desirable he is the more money they get for him.

A fair few (most) of these bids we have apparently put in will be untrue. They always are.

From Sky's Graeme Bailey:

On Alexis Sanchez nothing new, a couple of reports suggesting Barca remain favourites - but no movement on that one overnight

Poop.
*weeps*

...it's rumoured that Udinese are trying to sign Pablo Piatti to replace Sanchez.

Stop quoting random feckers from Twitter in the normal transfer threads, you have the Twitter Spaculation thread for that. Although tweets by random tossers with just 10 followers and no previous ITK record should really not even be posted in the spaculation thread.

We usually get mentioned around contract time.......don't really see the benefit of throwing our name around to drum up interest when they already have some of the biggest and wealthiest clubs interested in their player.

For once I agree with Top. Keep it in the Twitter tread.

Rumour doing the rounds is he will sign for Barca on Monday.

Yep according to Canal13(Chile's newspaper) he will sign for Barcelona on Monday.

Yarrrgh, matey's and muppet we be goin down now, deep to the depths, let us quickly join that good ship Young or Sneijder, an English Cutter or Dutch Warship, yaaaaargh

Oh well, turning down Barca would have been a very difficult decision. At least he hasn't gone to City.

Will be interesting how Barca keep him, Pedro & Villa happy with the rotations. Don't think Pedro deserves to be a substitute as he has been wonderful for Barca the last 2 seasons. Wonder if this impacts on any move for Fabregas?

Don't forget that Spanish Armada Mata and whatever they call Italian ships we can dub Rossi!

Don't know whether there's a connection or not, but Barca are very close to selling Bojan to Roma.

If he wasn't coming to us then I'm glad he's at Barca. Oddly enough I think it is a bad move for them and him. Not saying he's not quality but if they truly only have 40m euros to spend, I think there were more important acquisitions to make.

Luis Enrique was appointed manager there, so it looks likely - especially with Sanchez or Rossi coming in, Bojan's playing time would appear less than limited.

Rumours saying he got offers from three clubs, Barca offering the lowest wages.

I'd imagine there would be a connection, Barcelona need the money, with only €45million to spend, if they were to get Sanchez that would more then likely leave them with nothing, I'd imagine Bojan could fetch about €10million, also theres the fact with the addition of Sanchez they'd be very heavy in the squad with attacking players.

Hee hee, the canal 13 thing may be bollocks their website has nothing on it.

Depends how many of those clubs are actually interested and how many of them have actaully had their hats chucked into the ring by someone else.

Barca, Real, City, United and Chelsea might in reality be only Barca and City. The other 3 might have been thrown in to try and up the price.

I think Barca, City and Inter have all made it obvious. That's all you need for a bidding war right there.

Actually Chile faces Estonia on Sunday and then play a midweek away to Paraguay, so I don't know how its possible for him to sign on Monday.

No surprise really - he and his advisors did go to barca to do the dealing

Barca building a great squad as well as a first 11
