Alexis Sanchez | Udinese: No Deal Yet

The difference between Berbatov and them is we wanted Berbatov real bad. He also wanted us and no one else. So we were always going to win any bidding war.

I wouldn't be so sure, Tottenham were after huge money and we weren't going to offer that at first. City only came on the last day because that's when they were taken over by sheikhs, besides I'm not even sure their bid for Berbatov was legit, it was only quoted by a couple of tabloids. Had the bidding begun sooner, it might have been a different story, there's no way to tell really so I'm not going to argue. In Sanchez's case I'm positive that he will go to Chelsea if they are genuinely interested but there will be no way to tell if we were going to win a bidding war either because we won't table a bid, of that I'm nearly certain.

This guy will cost a leg and an arm, and unless Nani or Valencia are on their way out shouldn't be a priority. We missed the boat with Ozil, this guy is a luxury.

Even if United hadn't bid for Berbatov I highly doubt he'd have joined City. He'd still be at Spurs IMO.

Course not. He sulked for a whole season at Spurs, then was travelling to have a medical at City. Wouldnt have been his first option - like with pretty much all the good players they've signed. But he wanted out of Spurs as soon as possible

Not so, he has been playing a free role behind the striker a lot recently. From what I've seen of him I'm highly impressed. Until January I would have only considered Pastore as been the greatest prospect in Itay, but over the last couple of months this lad has exploded.

The one good thing is, I can't see him going to Barca or Madrid.

Well if he isn't joining us, then I d rather he join one of those two and not Chelsea. I mean facing maybe once or twice in 2-3 years is not the same as facing him twice and sometimes even thrice every year.

All I remember is SAF courting him most of the summer and then he was dropped for the first match or two and by then he wanted out. But had SAF not shown interest he never would have sulked and forced Levy's hand. Might very well still be at Spurs.

Transfer News: Manchester City want Udinese's Alexis Sanchez as potential replacement for Mario Balotelli - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Manchester City are ready to sign hot Chilean attacker Alexis Sanchez in a stunning £24 million deal – their first big capture for NEXT season.

Supremo Brian Marwood has been to Italy twice in the past couple of weeks to tie up a move for the exciting South American who has been starring for Udinese in Serie A.

Sanchez, one of his country’s stars in the last World Cup, can play anywhere in the attack and looks a ready-made replacement for unsettled problem boy Mario Balotelli – or even skipper Carlos Tevez if he leaves.

Oh for fecks sake! anywhere but City. :(

I guess what they are trying to have there is a trio of Pastore, Sanchez and Silva supporting a striker with two defensive midfielders bullying the opposition behind their backs, one of them providing forward balls (Toure). I think it could actually work well if they could squeeze some defensive work out of that trio, offenaively it could potentially be the best force in the league but no doubt they will find a way to screw it up somehow.

Moratti 'dreams' of Sanchez

Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti claims Udinese forward Alexis Sanchez would be a 'dream' signing.

The Chile international is being chased by Europe's top sides including Manchester United and Chelsea. The 22-year-old has shone for Udinese this season, helping the club push for a Champions League spot next season.

"Alexis Sanchez really is a fantastic player. That was already clear to see a few years ago," Moratti told Sky Sport Italia.

"Udinese have done a very good job to help him develop into an even better player. That will be very important for them both from an economic and sporting point of view.

"He's the type of player that makes you dream."

On Sunday, goals from Gokhan Inler and Antonio Di Natale earned Francesco Guidolin's side their fourth win in a row and their 10th win in 13 unbeaten matches in 2011.

It moved them back above Lazio into fourth place, just six points adrift of Serie A leaders AC Milan.

Sanchez won the penalty for Di Natale to bag Udinese's second goal against Catania.

That could do quite well potentially hopefully it doesnt happen and instead of players like pastore and sanchez it continues to be barry and milner

It's good that they're persisting with their "revolving door" transfer policy. The longer they keep at this, the harder it is for the team to settle.

No, he sulked the whole season before that. I think we'd tried to sign him and Spurs werent willing to talk with him having been there just 1 season.

You dont remember all that time he had the reputation of a sulker and having hissy fits on the pitch? It was over the course of a season not the couple of matches before we signed him

Well if he sulked his first season he ccertainly sulked before his third year in england when he wanted to move to united

Why on earth do they need Sanchez? It just seems they're trying to buy everyone and anyone until they eventually have bought their way to silverware.

Why on earth do they need everyone going? Sure a lot of it is paper speculation though in the same way players are linked with Utd.Only Utd is because of the reputation, City's is because of the money.

You know it's only a mAtter of time before they win a pot but their fans have been so starved of any success that they really couldn't care less and to ne honest if I was in the same position....I wouldn't either

What a load of nonsense. He never went for a medical at City, nor did he "sulk for a whole season" at Spurs. Obviously, nothing will ever stop you sniping about Berbatov but you really should stop blatantly making shit up.

Stop lying already.

He travelled to Manchester to have his medical with City. Because City and Spurs had agreed a fee. Thats when we took him and pissed Spurs off

We didnt agree a fee with Spurs till the last minute and you have to do that to get permission to speak with the player.

As for the season sulking at Spurs, thats what was being said at the time. And he was having lots of frustrated breakdowns on the pitch, a lot more than he's had at United. But he was still producing in front of goal and making assists.

You only have to do that if the club insists. A club can certainly give permission to talk to the player before he agrees a fee to sell him.

Howevery beautiful the legend is, I doubt we really did 'kidnap' him from the airport. The sides were playing hardball all summer long, but they all knew they'd agree a fee before time was up, which is why he was allowed to travel to Manchester.

You need to have permission to speak to the player. We had none. They were absolutely incensed by it. The fee was agreed with City, that morning every indication was that he was going there because we werent willing to up our bid. Its only after showing him round the club that we did so. And didnt we have to pay an extra £1 million fee somewhere to apologise for it? Or was that Liverpool with Keane?

Also, if he was never going to City then why did we have to match their bid?

Levy was on TV saying we had permission to speak to Berbatov. He later retracted it though.

I believe we had to make some kind of contribution so that Spurs wouldn't take the issue further. But I don't know how you can just decide he was planning on going to Man City, that was never going to happen.

Indeed - I have it on good authority that Dimitar Berbatov took one look at City and he said feck off.

Why wasnt it?

He had "sulked" the whole season, according to Spurs fans and the media. City had agreed a fee with Spurs. He was travelling to Manchester to speak to them. It was going to happen if we didnt come in with the right money

Oh well then if they think so then it must be true!

Ronaldo sulked through his last year with us, wasnt bad though mind!!

Don't think he was ever dropped though was he? Berbatov was omitted from the Spurs side in the midst of all the rumours. Now if you belive the media and Spudz fans it was because he sulked and didn't want to play but on the other hand maybe Spurs felt it better to play with a team formation that didn't include a player that they had every intention of selling and wanted to leave

Oh yes, I do know they'll not care. If they win a trophy through spending billions, then they'll not really care. We spent money which was self generated, and we've never spent money the way City are nowadays. Our success over the last 20 years has been built up, theirs will be bought.

Udinese warn Chelsea, Manchester City & United: Alexis Sanchez will cost you big money

Sporting director Fabrizio Larini talks up transfer fee

Inter are attempting to negotiate a deal for Alexis Sanchez – who has courted interest from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United – but Udinese have warned they should be prepared to pay a handsome sum to secure the Chilean star.

The club's sporting director Fabrizio Larini was reluctant to name a price just 24 hours after Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti said he "dreamed" of Sanchez, but did suggest that the player was worth "a lot of money".

Reports in England earlier on Tuesday added Manchester City's name to a list of English clubs linked with a move for the 22-year-old, but the Serie A side made it clear his stock will continue to rise, especially if they qualify for the Champions League next term.

Larini said: "Speaking about figures is not always nice and it is the market which brings the value, but we do know he is worth a lot of money.

"At the moment though we cannot value him as he is a player who is always evolving positively."

Getting back on topic.

Udinese are in no hurry to negotiate the sale of exciting attacker Alexis Sanchez, despite the player being continually linked with a summer move away from the club, says president Giampaolo Pozzo.

Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked while Inter, Manchester City, Juventus are the latest clubs thought to be considering a move for the Chilean international.

However, Udinese supremo Pozzo insists his club are eager to maintain the services of the 22-year-old for another season.

"We will try to keep him [Sanchez] here for another year," he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

A sale is less likely if the club qualifies for the Champions League next season, although Pozzo is aware that making the top four in Serie A will not be easy.

He added: "I would be happy with fourth place. I am happy with the play of the team. We have good chances to finish in the position we are in, but it's going to be difficult."
latest. That radio kiss kiss is always involved.

Manchester United The Perfect Fit For Alexis Sanchez | Forza Italian Football

At this stage more or less every major team in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A is keeping tabs on Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez. The forerunners for acquiring the sprightly young winger, however, appear to be Manchester United and Liverpool, who have been linked to the player more times than just about everybody else combined.

Without a doubt Sanchez is one of the foremost young talents in world football. His acquisition would be a major boost for either team. My question is as follows – which team would be the best fit for Sanchez? Which team would provide the Chilean with the best opportunity to fulfil his potential, which team would best fit his style of play and which team would allow him to excel?

Sanchez, who has garnered the nickname “El Nino Maravilla” is famed for his remarkable pace and awe-inspiring technical ability (as evidenced in the video below). This has seen him tagged with rather obvious comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo. Whilst this association isn’t a million miles away from the truth (his ball control, dribbling ability and tendency to whip in a good cross all attest to that) a better point of comparison, for me, is between Sanchez and Arsenal’s Samir Nasri. Both are remarkably technically gifted players who can operate as either a winger or striker.

Outstanding. If I were Sir Alex Ferguson I would do everything in my power to ensure that United acquire his services in the summer. United have received a bit of a drubbing from critics this season decrying their lack of ability out on the wings. Antonio Valencia’s return may help to add width to United’s starting XI – but the ultimate solution would be to add Alexis Sanchez to the squad. He is, after all, one of the finest young wingers in the world.

When you consider that Sanchez is believed to be a life-long United fan, the match seems nothing short of perfect. United are said to have tracked the Chilean international since he was 18-years-old (he’s now 22) and even back then Sanchez made it clear that he desired to play for the Red Devils one day.

Valencia and Nani are both good enough starters out on the wings for United, but given Sanchez’s versatility (he can play anywhere in the midfield, or upfront) he shouldn’t have any trouble breaking into United’s first-team and making a name for himself in the Premier League.

Valuations for the player have varied, but reports emanating from Italy suggest that Udinese would be willing to accept £30 million for the player in the summer. Despite the hefty price-tag, I foresee a number of teams playing tug-of-war for his services come the end of the season.

Just a gut feeling, but I think we'll sign him this summer. He seems like a phenomenal talent, plus he being a united fan will make it easier for us to sign him.

Thought it was widely known.
I didn't realise it either. But then again there's about five young attacking players that I've barely (if ever) watched, all being talked about on here and in the media. I know that I've mixed a lot of the things being said about different ones together as I find it hard to remember which one is which unless I actually watch a quick video. I've probably heard it and forgotten which one it was.

How reliable is the talk that he's a fan? Just media rubbish or has it actually got legs?
