Great to hear that Sanchez is staying. We should start negotiating with his and Messi's agent on 12/31 at midnight

Bluemoon is seething. Calling Arsenal pathetic, childish, all the names you can imagine just because they wouldnt sell them Sanchez. Grown men and women they are, mind you.

Sad. feckers

Imagine being stuck with the attackers they have. Feel for them.

Good news. Now hopefully Sanchez sulks all season, Arsenal end up fighting relegation, and Arsenal Fan TV descend yet another rung of the ladder of evolution and start flinging their shit at each other.

woody needs to run into the emirates with a briefcase full of cash like he's seth rollins right now.

Honestly this is a relief. Sanchez would have added that little extra and they would most probably win the league quite easily. Now I can see us challenging them.

I've just realised that Arsenal have lost the ability to decide where Sanchez goes next summer if he leaves on a free.

Arsenal fans will be fuming (well more than they usually are) if he's allowed to sign for United on a free transfer.

Really glad about this, Sanchez to Citeh would pretty much have sealed the league.

City left it too late. Arsenal would've sold Sanchez if they'd come in with this offer a week ago or something. Lemar isn't interested in Arsenal and only wants to move to Liverpool. The question is are Liverpool going to come in with an improved bid like Arsenal did or have they dropped their interest?

"fecking pathetic arsenal, childish amateurish wankers. Now we're going to have to watch shite like Sterling and Sane all season. Disgusted."

Sauces are saying this deal is far from dead yet. I think this one is going right to wire, and will almost certainly end with him signing for City tonight.

A season of whinging on the pitch and smirking on the bench looms. Arsenal fans will truly despise him by the end of the season.

A proper little toxic twat.

Can.t really blame Arsenal.
Aparently City's first bid was on Tuesday.
Like Madrid with Dave, why wait all summer?

Being offered £55m for a player in the last year of his contract is still a very good offer.

I think it's dumb as hell to turn it down. He's not going to play his best stuff (he doesn't need to unlike Coutinho).

Arsenal aren't going to win the league with or without him (don't see why a replacement is so critical) - they might as well get a good deal from somebody.

Not only do City fail to land their target but Pep has revealed what he really thinks of his forward line.

If he gets them into the top 4 the decision will come close to paying for itself. He might well not, but frankly they have a much better chance with him than without.

You could very easily make the argument that both of Barcelona's treble-winning midfields included two #10s. Xavi was a #10 for Spain and Iniesta was always a wide playmaker, never a centre mid. Rakitic was a #10 for most of his club and national career too. Some would even argue that both Modric and Kroos are #10s - at the very least they weren't out of place when they played there previously for club and country. Likewise for Pogba and Herrera with us last year.

It will involve some adjustment from both Silva and de Bruyne but I think people take a far too rigid view on player roles these days, personally.

Jesus Aguero Sánchez
Silva Gundogan de Bruyne
Mendy Otamendi Kompany Walker

To me that is easily capable of winning the league. There's no doubt it's more attacking than we're used to in recent times, but then Guardiola's teams have already shown they can play in an ultra-attacking way without being critically exposed defensively. They have monopolised possession very well for the most part, and all of the players contribute well to the defensive pressing game.

The other thing to say is our treble winning team was probably as attacking as that. Two strikers, one ex-striker/#10 in centre mid, two attacking wingers...in both cases they only had one real anchor in midfield and then a pretty fluid, attacking front 5. Albeit the fullbacks in this case are a lot more offensive.
It could work with Silva and KDB as centre mids but not a chance it'd work with Gundogan behind them. Gundogan is far from Busquets or Casemiro when it comes to balancing the midfield

Going to be fun keeping an eye on Sanchez. He is a professional and will give his best, but what happens if he signs a pre-contract in January. Does Wenger continue playing him, or does Sanchez take his foot off the pedal to avoid any serious injury.

To be fair to Sanchez - it didn't seem like he acted like a little b*tch about this like Coutinho has.
Imo, simply because he thinks he didn't need to. The cards were stacked firmly against Arsenal.
Different case to Coutinho who would have needed to force Liverpool's hands.
