Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

To be fair to Sanchez - it didn't seem like he acted like a little b*tch about this like Coutinho has.
What have you been watching? He's been a sulk, openly disrespectful to the manager and the club since at least March, and he basically downed tools... He's been so much worse than Coutinho, and his behaviour last season put me off him as a player. If Jose was criticising Shaw last season for supposedly not wanting to play through the pain, Sanchez would have been impaled for some of the shit he pulled last season.

It could work with Silva and KDB as centre mids but not a chance it'd work with Gundogan behind them. Gundogan is far from Busquets or Casemiro when it comes to balancing the midfield

Agreed - hasn't got the same level of defensive awareness, pitch coverage or injury resistance to carry out such a pivotal role.

Thomas Lemar, my new favorite player. :)

Poor Pep, he didn't get a new forward, how will he cope..?

Oh and Arsenal.
I'm so glad I'm not their fan. Sleepless nights ahead for them. Kind of feel sorry for them.
Kind of.

Nobody is talking about the poor delagation from City medical team that went half way around the world to Chile for no fecking reason :(

There is a very realistic possibility that City could sign Messi and Sanchez on FFP mocking frees next summer

So either he signs for someone on the cheap in January or there's going to be a bidding war for the free transfer. Could depend on how good City look this season.

Going to be fun keeping an eye on Sanchez. He is a professional and will give his best, but what happens if he signs a pre-contract in January. Does Wenger continue playing him, or does Sanchez take his foot off the pedal to avoid any serious injury.
I imagine he'll give it his all with one eye obviously on Chile and the World Cup. It's probably his last big chance to make a mark on that stage. Depends on how Arsenals season pans out really.

Hilarious post from 'ArsenalMania':

We made a massively-inflated, panic bid for Lemar only to learn he’s getting ready for tonight’s World Cup qualifying game w/o enough time to finalize any deal before the deadline. So now we're keeping completely demotivated Sanchez for 9 (probably fruitless) months, and will almost certainly lose him for free next summer after the inevitable January pre-contract with one of our (rapidly growing list of) betters.

If that doesn't sum up how 'well-run' this club is, I don't know what does. But oh yeah, we won an FA cup last year and Spurs didn't, so we've clearly got superior management...

He will be included in the Chile squad even if he is a bit part player for Arsenal. He is far too important of a player for Chile to drop.

Being offered £55m for a player in the last year of his contract is still a very good offer.

I think it's dumb as hell to turn it down. He's not going to play his best stuff (he doesn't need to unlike Coutinho).

Arsenal aren't going to win the league with or without him (don't see why a replacement is so critical) - they might as well get a good deal from somebody.

You don't see why it's critical for a team to replace their best player? Think of it from the point of view of a midtable club. It's hardly about winning the league. It's about at best getting into Europa and at worst avoiding relegation.

Would people consider throwing lingard plus smalling? Plus cash?

Woody needs to offer Lingard and 50m. Now!
Ask Arsenal how much they want for him, within reason.

Doesn't matter what we offer since Arsenal need a replacement (Lemar) before anything and I'm sure City would offer just as much if not more than what United would for Sanchez.

I don't mind this however. Both City and Arsenal get double whammied and stay put.

Come on Woody, there's still time, come with Mata, Smalling, Lingard, Fellaini and Darmian plus 50 mil and get it done ffs!

Bluemoon is seething. Calling Arsenal pathetic, childish, all the names you can imagine just because they wouldnt sell them Sanchez. Grown men and women they are, mind you.

Sad. feckers
Bluemoon is pathetic but tbf do you remember what it was like in here the day Griezemann decided to stay at Atletico? Dark times

People were pissed at Griezmann, not Atletico. Big difference... Not that I condoned the angry mob mentality, but I had some sympathy towards it.

No it isn't. 55m is fullback money today, it buys you half of a top a player, maybe a 1/3.

If Alexis doesn't play his best stuff will he get as a big a contract?

We might not win the league but we probably won't get top4 without him, where as we may with him

Fair enough but I think Arsenal are clearly outsiders for the top 4 anyway. I mean United (bias included) look decent after the first few games and most would predict they'll dislodge one of last years top four. Who are Arsenal going to take over even with Sanchez?

Guess I'm just of the mind that Arsene has fecked the season up already and you might as well take the money and plan for bringing in replacements in January or next summer because it's not going to matter much this season.

Love how City have pinned the collapse of this transfer on Arsenal.

That’s what happens when you make a formal bid less than 48 hours before the window closes.

Schleps.

Haha been thread banned or forum banned from bluemoon over saying how it was best to turn down their low balling offer.

Well maybe I don't know Liverpool have a much busier schedule for one.

3 games isn't a league season.

I cant see how Bayern or PSG dont just want in and offer him massive wages next summer if he's going for free. Big chance he wont end up at City.

All this City get him for free, Pep might not even be there next season if it doesn't go to plan this year. Didn't think Arsenal had it in them to not take the money, fair play even if it was more stupidity then logic.

Bit weird to include United in that when City have spent 411 millon of that. Big fecking difference in spending.

And United... well, De Gea, Bailly and Bailly would defo get in Madrid's team.
Bailly would not start over Varane and Ramos, let's not be silly.
