Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

I would love for Sanchez to join us. I really would. I just think he gets massively overrated on here.

He's a top class player that will improve City no doubt, but he's not a massive improvement over Sane or Sterling.

Crazy comment. I really rate Sane and I like Sterling, but Sanchez is at another level for productivity right now.

If Sane and Sterling were similar quality to Sanchez already then we wouldn't have struggled to score goals last year.

Sterling will never reach that level, and Sane needs to knuckle down for a few more years, but has the potential.

Is it just me that thinks that Sanchez is massively overrated?

Don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic player and I'd love for us to sign him, but I wouldn't class him as an elite level player.

You look at the Ronaldo's, Messi's, ibrahimovic's and Suarez's all hitting 40 plus goals a season for their clubs on a consistent basis and Sanchez hasn't even come close to having that much of an influence on any team he's played for.
Zlatan has scored over 40 goals in a season twice... that's not consistently is it... twice in around 20 seasons (both at psg)
Suarez has done it twice in around 14 seasons... once at Ajax and once at Barca

Twice in 20 years is like claiming we consistently win the cl

Wenger will be making sure Alexis stays at Arsenal and lose on a free next year. Can't imagine what will happen there if he allows him to leave as well

Lets hope so. At least it City will have to wait until next season to improve massively, by then we'll have a player of the same quality in Greizmann.

That's shortsighted. City will probably sign Sanchez on a free, trigger the release clause on griezmann and double whatever wages united will give him.

I think he's staying. I'm not sure if that's good or bad for Arsenal, he clearly doesn't want to be there.

I'd rather he stays where he is. Arsenal under Wenger won't challenge and they lose him for free next summer.

We play City next as well and I wasn't that keen on having to play against a rejuvenated Sanchez.

That's the way we all see it too I guess. Arsenal not gonna mount any serious challenge if at all Sanzhez or not. However, with City he could be the culprit that gets them over the line, I rather not.

Over on the city forums they are saying it's all agreed as of 40 mins ago from their resident itk. Shall wait and see I suppose!

I'm sick of ITK's. This window has been one of the worst for it as well.

Yeah, I can't see Draxler going to Arsenal so Arsenal won't sell Sanchez without a replacement.

Sky Sports saying City have made a second bid and that Arsenal will accept once they get Lemar?

They didn't say that at all? SSN have repeatedly said all day that Arsenal will not accept a cash only deal as they don't have time to sign a replacement

Of all the summer deals, this is the most worrisome (frankly, I see this going through). I strongly feel we missed out on Aurier but it doesn't worry me because we ourselves are not doing so bad at RB position. But, if Sanchez goes to City, it will make them strong favorites for the city.

City is crying out for a strong mentality on the field and Alexis is definitely one

Ballbag is saying its a £55m +5m addons and Arsenal agree.

Great piece of business considering the state of the market.

If they are spending £70 million or more on him we can assume he's going straight in to that first team, in which case I can see him putting up similar and maybe better numbers. Plus I know it's a cheap argument but he'll probably be their penalty taker as well whilst KDB on set pieces. How do you feel about all this pal? Judging by most Arsenal fans reaction they couldn't give a shit about Ox leaving but do you honestly feel this season can be salvaged without Sanchez?
I'm not happy that we're in this situation yet again with a key player but keeping Sanchez at this stage isn't going to be helpful. We're going to have a shit season whether he stays or goes. If he stays he'll put in more performances like the one last weekend but if he goes we're going to struggle to replace his numbers. We should have sold him at the beginning of the summer and tried to sign a replacement but now it's too late. The club is honestly a mess.

Dream scenario: City sign Sanchez, Arsenal mess up deal for Lemar.

AFTV

Apparently some idiot put £1000 on United to sign Sanchez earlier today. I'd have given him better odds.

I cannot believe Ed Woodward is not throwing Smalling + £65m at Wenger. SAF would be all over this if he was still here. SAF always said if a top quality PL player is available, he always tries to get him.

Woodward is a wimp.

Try to imagine this very hard to imagine scenario:

Sanchez doesn't want to come here.

Woodward would only bid for him if Mourinhowrong wants him.

How about 50m plus a player or two?

I have no idea what players Arsenal would prefer but from the likes of McTominay, Mitchell, Olusunde, Tuanzebe, Wilson, et al, surely there is a youngster or two for Wenger to salivate over. Perhaps a first team player would be more preferred, so choose one from Fellaini, Lingaard, Smalling, Young.

Granted, none of that matters if Sanchez does not desire a move to United.

Woodward should be going by what Mourinho wants. What if Mourinho doesn't want Sanchez? What if Mourinho doesn't want to sell Smalling... Should he go ahead and offer him anyway?

As much as I would like us to be all over this transfer, it seems he's given his preference to City and Pep. Hence the inaction from us, and City going in for him as we speak.

Bullshit!
Sanchez wants to leave Arsenal. He will go to any team in the CL. Arsenal will sell to any team with cash and a player.

What are we doing?

Yes, he may want to leave Arsenal but perhaps not to us?

What is so hard to grasp in this concept?

How can you be sure of that? He's ever actually said that, he could prefer Pep to mourinho and that's life.

Perhaps, but there has been no suggestion or hint that we've even made an effort to sign him. Trying to pretend we know he knows he doesn't want to sign for us isn't fooling anyone.
