Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

I don't understand your point of bringing Di Maria to the table. He didn't fail because the league was too hard for him but because his mentality was crap. Just because we bought a player with shite mentality from Liga and failed doesn't mean we should never take a risk of getting a world class player from there.

He failed because the league was too hard for him. He never knew it was going to be that hard. The hard league caused the frustration. The frustration led to his loss of confidence and he never really recovered from it.

Sanchez is a different animal. He's already proven - he has the tenacity of Tevez(minus the constant drama). Sanchez will be cheaper(last year of contract). It's a no-brainer.

He was already going to join us if not for this transfer ban, though.

Risk is the key for most of the transfers and I would take a risk of signing a world class player from another league anytime.

If he really wanted us, he should have joined. That transfer ban theory is just an excuse. He rejected us - that ship has sailed.

No he didn't. He started the league brilliantly with us in the first few games and ended the season with +10 assists. His mentality was just crap and he has always been like that ever since Madrid, always considered an inconsistent and frustrating player for them till his last season there when Carlo switched him to midfield and he did his best performance for them. Di Maria has always been this kind of player and not because of the league.

Griezmann is a complete different case.

The only ones who can confirm if the ship has sailed or not for Griezmann deal is Ed, though, not us.

Mentioned this in the Mahrez thread and kinda a response to people who would prefer Mahrez vs Sanchez (like myself) although I'm certain no one would be against the latter if it happened which looks unlikely anyways.

Interesting to see that you rather sign Mahrez over Alexis Sanchez. But you have a good point, Mahrez would be a more natural fit for the RW.

I hope we manage to sign Mahrez and Griezmann (next season).

To be honest, I prefer Sanchez over Mahrez/Bale/Lemar. Mainly, because I think Alexis is a better player, but it seems that he wants to play for City and I want a player who is motivated to play for us. Mahrez would be more realistic, we could buy him and Aurier for what Monaco is asking for Lemar.
I rate Sanchez the highest from those players listed but considering all things would prioritize him below Mahrez.

I think it's fair to say Sanchez has another gear/level to his game vs Mahrez which means he has a 'better' game breaking ability. However, Sanchez's game breaking ability is primarily to score goals whereas Mahrez also has a game breaking ability but it's primarily through playmaking and putting others in positions to score. Two different styles despite both having the quality to score and playmake/assist, Sanchez is a goal scorer whereas Mahrez isn't. I'm more concerned about long term since United are in a transition phase, we have a team which is generally growing together which will become the new core and Mahrez would be a much better fit long term in that sense (age difference). Don't want Sanchez being like RVP where he leaves/declines in 3 years time (even though the first couple seasons were amazing and well worth the memories), would prefer Mahrez for 6+ with 6 years being prime production / his best years still ahead of him, something which you can't really say for Sanchez and especially Bale ...don't get me wrong if we got Sanchez I'd be delighted since he's the better player but all things considered just personally prefer Mahrez and like you said, doubt Wenger gives us Sanchez anyways.

As for Lemar, do not want at all. He's a LM and I easily rate Martial+Rashford higher than him. Would be redundant, create a bigger problem/log jam of depth, and unnecessary money spent. That's just my $0.02 on if we're able to get a 4th signing
All I'm really saying is, there's nothing stopping United from getting both players and that

-----------Lukaku
---------Griezmann
Martial--------------Mahrez (sub: Mikhi or Mata)

>>>

-----------Lukaku
------------Mikhi
Martial--------------Mahrez (sub: Mata)

...and it's not even debatable :p

I don't think this is true at all. Di Maria came into the league and was ripping it apart till he decided he was too good for the club. Even when he got dropped the occasional subs and games he got he was really productive.

Sanchez is 5 times better than Griezmann. Sanchez is proven here in the PL. Griezmann could come to England and fold like Di Maria.

I'd rather have a serial winner like Sanchez in my team. It's mostly because of him Messi failed to win Copa America in the last few years.
A serial winner? Really? A serial winner would have lifted Arsenal to a title atleast. And yeah, this PL proven thing again. We should never buy anyone from any league cause ADM happened. He's proven himself in the CL and the Euros. By that logic, Sanchez>Messi,Lewandowaki and Neymar since they are not PL proven.

I know we're getting off topic but to be fair I think Griezmann would tear it up in the league. However, I'd rather Sanchez personally.

for a guy with one year left and about to turn 30? Honestly? 50m max.

I think Arsenal will be bastards and ask for silly money plus a top squad player to part with Sanchez, knowing youll refuse. Wenger being the stubborn git he is would probably rather see him join you for nothing than sell this late.

Seen a tweet earlier saying you want Sanchez and cash for Sterling, thats a joke

Don't you think it'll make Arsenal itself as a selling club & an idiot if they are the one who sell a world class & their best player who can produce more than 20 league goals to their rival for only 50m? Obviously Sanchez would have gone cheaper if he joined clubs outside EPL.

The same thing that prevented Di Maria could prevent Griezmann. Arsenal took a huge risk bringing him over.....At this point, we already know what Sanchez is capable of doing.

So why not go for certainty?

What makes you think the same thing that prevented Di Maria could prevent Griezmann? One has great professionalism and the other one doesn't.

We should offer Arsenal £80m and him wages of £350k a week - not to get him, but just to feck with them all

I don't think Arsenal will let him leave tbh, especially not to a domestic rival. Their fans are already on edge, due to their shite start, this will put them completely over. Not to add OX is seemingly off, which they're not happy with

They'd start harassing Wenger at his home

Sanchez doesn't bring balance to city. So many quality players to be benched.

How much has he won?

So pretty much every news outlet has the £50m City bid rejected story... they're gonna get him.. cnuts!!

United should be all over this if a deal is possible. You'll have to overpay but it would be the last piece to make you favourites for the title in my opinion.

Impartial to him joining City tbf. Their attack is already the best in the league by a mile, adding another great player is just going to get more players sidelined and cause more unrest amongst the players missing out.

What they need is to improve their defence. Would love Sanchez here but considering the lack of any links at all, it doesn't look likely.

Not good news, he's the best player in the league and as others have said would make City strong title favorites.

I wonder if this spells the end for Aguero.

But it's also curious that Pep wants Sanchez so much considering his poor season under Pep at Barca and Pep accused him of having no balls at 1 point.

I seriously don't understand if we're not bidding 70-80 m gbp on Sanchez. Proven player, would take us all the places we want to go.

Not a smart move by either party. Sure it will all be rosie at first but very soon Sanchez will think WTF!? I've moved sideways. I'm 28 I'll never do it at a big club. He will remember that Pep was the man to sell him at Barca. He'll remember why he left. It will niggle away at him. Pep will remember why he sold him and will see those qualities he didn't like before. Frustration will kick in for both. There will be more competition for places. Sanchez is OK but not untouchable by any means. He looks better than he is because there is a lack of quality available in these positions at the moment. Not a transfer that concerns me.

Pep wasn't manager at Barcelona when Sanchez was sold.

He only managed him for 1 season(which was a very underwhelming season from Sanchez).

He's clearly available and wants out, offer them what they want and offer him an offer he can't refuse. It would send out such a statement and would really piss Pep off no ends.

If City get him they have a very good chance of winning the league. Wish we were in for him.

This again. They'll add a forward to an already stacked forward line. They had that last year too and they didn't win it nor were close. Their problems are still the way they play, their defense and we'll see how the new GK will work.

I really hope we at least raise the price for city.

This is such a muppet transfer, god damn why am i doing this.

I hate the way people fall for his head down theatrics after every goal Arsenal concede.
Oh he's such a winner..he's as bad as the rest of them
