Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

He is defiantly getable and I'm not sure why one of the big boys haven't already signed him up!

United have plenty of room for him and it wouldn't take record breaking fees to convince Arsenal to part ways either.

Spend the Griezmann money on him. He's world class in his prime and does it week in week out in the PL.

Yes and when Martial goes on to be world class for Arsenal for years, the same people will be complaining.
How short-sighted can one be?

We are in a bit of a desperate situation. Even with Lukaku, we are not guaranteed a top 4 spot, we still lack a World-Class winger, Sanchez would transform us from a good team to a great team.

Martial is a gamble right now and it seems like his style doesn't fit with Mourinho. It's all guesswork from me though.

It's no point entertaining that thought.

It's just thoughts, i am pretty sure we won't get this guy.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that I really don't think we need him now we have Lukaku. Sure, he'd improve us but not more than a great defensive-minded centre mid would, which is absolutely where I'd stack my chips if I was gambling at the casino with Jose Mourinho.

I honestly think we'd benefit more from a rotatable player like Perisic. We already have Rashford, Martial and Mata who can play on the wings. Also Mkhitaryan, although not his favoured position.

Including Martial in a transfer could maybe tempt Wenger.

I love Martial, but not sure Mourinho does.

Swap deals almost never happen so I don't think it's all that realistic.

That said, in theory I would agree that this might be the one way for MUFC to tempt Wenger and beat a bid from City.

Wenger's problem isn't so much the size of the fee but that the supporters will call for his head if he sells Alexis to a rival...unless he can bring in players talented enough to sell the supporters on the new direction of the club. But buying players that talented in today's market is hard because there is more money than top level talent in the game.

I genuinely think we can get him - Arsenal by now probably know he's not signing and know if they can offer what he wants.

I'm hoping he resents Pep slightly for selling him

90 million? Fecking hell the footballing world has gone mad.

Now Sanchez is a top drawer player, but he is 29 and only had one stellar season in the premier league in a poor team. He didn't cut it at Barca.

He is in the last year of his contract - no way should we pay 90 million. Rather go get Bale or O.Dembele if we are paying 90mil mark

If it's the difference between winning the league and not, it's a bargain.

Sanchez can be a legend at the biggest club in the world. He would sign for us if given the chance. Let's do this NOW!

But Rooney helped get Lukaku.

Signing Sanchez would send a huge message that we will be challenging to win the league and not just top 4. Even if we have Martial, Mata, Mhiki and Lingard for the wings, we still need Sanchez. We should just ignore Perisic and go for him. He can play anywhere in attack. Rashford, Sanchez and Lukaku as strikers will good enough to challenge on all fronts. 60M would be a good enough bid for him because he's in his last year of his contract and Arsenal could risk losing him on a free and it's a pretty high fee. With Bastian, Schneiderlin, Memphis, Rooney and Zlatan out, we've freed up quite a bit of the wage budget. Our highest earners are probably Pogba, De Gea, Lukaku (above 200k)

Not really an excitement... But a logical decision to go after Sanchez. He's better than Perisic and he would definitely make us title favorites along with another DM.

Yeah that was my thought too. Makes sense for us and for Sanchez too. That said, the lack of movement regarding his future really seems like the Lukaku situation.

You're right. Sanchez will definitely leave Arsenal this summer. He could have joined Bayern but with James joining Bayern, that won't happen and he could consider joining up with Man City. We need to step up and get him. It's a no brainer and Sanchez can see that United have a project going with a lot of ambition.

This will be my muppet home thread this summer

Let's hope we push this through if this is possible. Does Wenger still want Smalling?

What's caused the sudden seeming excitement in here?

As far as I can tell, some sections of the fanbase are just desperate for a (any) big name - I think a few had been hoping that United were secretly working behind the scenes on a deal for James Rodriguez. Now that obviously isn't happening, there's been a sudden deluge of posts in here (despite no evidence of any interest from United in Sanchez). He's the new transfer muppet target.

Once Sanchez signs for City in the next couple of weeks, we'll see a sudden flurry of hopeful posts about Bale and Real's necessity to sell in order to fund an Mbappe bid. When, after a couple more weeks of wishful thinking, Bale definitively announces he's staying at Madrid, the focus will turn to a late August/deadline day deal for Griezmann, and when that fails to materialise we'll just get a load of moaning/transfer looney meltdowns.

You can actually witness the herd of muppets stampeding en masse from one thread to another, driven by nothing but a desperate craving for transfer gratification.

Not the dreaded swap theory again !
Oh wait it's Smalling, just do it, throw in Darmian & Lingard and that's about right eh ?

Heh, none of that would be surprising.

We must have some money aside for Griezemann, just Offer them £90 million + smalling, surely it'll make their head turn.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

So much excitement over nothing concrete.

Everyone just going off on one over his supposed wanting to get out of arsenal.
Papers have done their job I suppose lol

Not a single legit source even said he wants to leave the club. The only words he uttered were that he knew 'what he was going to do' which as ambiguous an answer as it'll get.

Journos just put 2 n 2 together and assumed coz hes in his final year he wants to leave and city only choice by process of elimination, which I find absurd as he didn't have best of relationships with pep at Barca.

You guys can calm down, he won't go to united even if you offer 100 mil. Wenger has more influence at board level than you lot think. Anything to do with Mou just won't happen, if you had van gaal then maybe...

Anyway, based on what's out there (not what his imaginary friends are telling the sun/mirror/other rubbish media) he will stay most likely and see how things pan over the season before moving next summer or re-sign with us.

You guys and City are the only two clubs with seemingly unlimited funds. Like one poster mentioned. If he's moving to City then you should at least slap a £100m bid down so City have to at least match it.

If you end up getting Sanchez then you end up with a player who won't stop til the final whistle. He's the type of player to get you a goal from nowhere when you're losing or drawing. If he wasn't scoring for us he was opening defences and creating chances.

No doubt the rest of your attacking talent would thrive with Sanchez. I'd be happy with a £80m bid + Martial :D
No.
