Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Wishful thinking lads, either he forces a move through to City with Wenger throwing him under the bus for the fans or he stays at Arsenal.

A Sanchez is signing is too good to be true.

Lukaku
Sanchez------------------Mkhitaryan
Pogba----Herrera
New Signing
Shaw Lindelöf Bailly Valencia
De Gea
How good does that look? I can't imagine that we'd struggle for goals with a front three of that calibre. I hope we are at least testing the water on this one.
Would love to see him come to us but don't think it will happen. We'd be right up there competing for the league if he did. I think we'll eventually sign Perisic. Been too much smoke since May for us to not sign him.

I think more to do with Arsenal not entertaining selling him to a rival. Sanchez won't end up at United for two reasons imo. If Wenger sells him, City will be interested, and he will choose to play for Pep.

They might not have a choice as no clubs outside of the PL can afford him. We certainly can,and our wage bill has been reduced too. And why would be want to play for Pep? He did not have a ton of success under him, Pep was not the one who nurtured and guided him. Can't see why he would be obssessed with playing for Pep again. Jose has as much appeal to play for at least.

Has Sanchez ever mentioned his preference or admiration for City or Pep? So far it is just the press saying it, right?

Wenger will never in a million years sell his best player to Mourinho his arch enemy.

Only way this happens is if Wenger gets overuled by the Arsenal board to sell Sanchez to us which I don't think is likley.

press have give it the old, "he told his friends" rubbish from what I remember

Money talks -Sanchez may be adamant about the move and I don't think the board will want him to leave for free next season. We never thought that Arsenal would sell us RvP either.

If I was an attacking and creative footballer I would much rather play in a team managed by Guardiola than one managed by Mourinho.

Just throw more money than city. Either they pay up and he chooses them (at least they've paid more than they had to) or they give up and he chooses between here and Arsenal. I don't see Arsenal rejecting 70-80 million offer and city could decide to retreat at that point too because the genius Pep sold half of his defense and now they have to pay big for replacements there.

Yea but that was under Fergie, Wenger and Fergie were on speaking terms at the end of his career with Mourinho it is a different story.

Now ofcourse Wenger and Mourinho don't have to speak to eachother. If Mourinho can convince Sanchez and we place the highest bid and the board sanctions the transfer there is not much Wenger can do except get on with it.

Despite Wenger's intense hate for Jose, Alexis to United is a definite possibility. He has one year on his deal, there's no way that Arsenal turn down a bid of 60 million.

Arsenal saying they won't sell him to a PL rival is pure posturing especially with Bayern out the mix due to the James loan deal.

It wouldn't be great from Arsenal's standpoint to sell him to a PL rival but it would be even worse from a business standpoint to let a player of his talents go for free next summer.

Arsenal could even leverage the situation to their advantage by creating a bidding war between us, a desperate Chelsea and infatuated (Pep) City for a player who has one year on his deal.

Point is Alexis firmly controls his future in this equation. If he's committed to leaving, no one way will he be allowed to run his contract down.

Jose's teams have scored plenty too in the past -it is a matter of talent at his disposal. Sanchez joining up with Pogba and Lukaku will have plenty of chances to score. Still feel that Pep is overrated by many - he spent a ton of money last season with a team that had been preparing for his arrival for a while, and still won nothing.

Under JOse, Sanchez will have matches where he has to man mark his opposite FB and also games where we sit deep and invite pressure onto us. He wants to be free up the pitch to harass defenders and be nearer to goal. He'd most certainly prefer playing under Pep. He doesn't want to burn out like Hazard.

City plays a pressing style that requires their forwards to press too. Defending is always a team effort more than anything, and Sanchez is already a player who likes zooms around the pitch for most of the game anyway.

Not saying that Sanchez will surely choose us,but we stand as much as chance of him chooaing us as any other club, Wenger's preference notwithstanding.

Given his last year of contract and Wengers reluctance to sell to a prem rival, be very surprised to see this happen.

Would give Martial virtually no game time also.

Same with Dier - we'll be priced out. While the difference is Sanchez is worth the money, I don't think its wise to pay upwards of 40,50,60 mil for a player with 1 YEAR left on his contract

His age is a problem with the asking price, but I think getting Sanchez gets us our title back. Sign him.

I think the slim chance (and when I say slim I mean a 1 lb fishing line holding the titanic) would be any deal where we get Sanchez, then Martial would be going the other way.

Peronally don't know why anyone goes off what Wenger says. I don't think we will get Sanchez btw, but Wenger is a known bullshitter, he always lies. If he says he will never deal with United again he is lying.

He'll play in the No.10 role for us and will be given a lot of freedom.

We are looking to sign perisic so getting Sanchez instead probably has the same effect on Martial.

I don't get this.
1. Martial's development isn't our mission. Especially if he shows himself to be lacklustre and uncommitted.

2. (And this would please a few on here.) He would likely play at the expense of Lingard. I have more time than most for Jesse, but that is some fecking upgrade.

I think we get him for £50m, maybe less if we put the difference on his wages.

I think Martial would rotate more with Perisic than Sanchez tbh.

Sanchez is top drawer, would start nearly every game bar cups or injuries. Perisic on the other hand, would be more of a rotation option as he isn't at Sanchez's level

We struggled for goals last season, Lukaku and Sanchez would make too much sense.....

Should defo make a public bid of 100m for him - it then makes it really difficult for City to buy him for much less.

Same with Dele Alli, public bid to ruffle his feathers and get the lad thinking.

I would take Sanchez all day long over Martial currently, just stating that is one of the factors that may hinder a deal....

I'd take anyone over Lingard, he isn't upto much but Jose fancies him so he will be around the 1st tea, next year like it or not.

50mil for last year of contract seems way to high for me, but if we want him, that's what it will take

Considering we're heavily rumoured to be about to pay a similar amount for Ivan fecking Perisic, this looks relatively 'wise' to me.

I dont agree. I think he could be the difference and put us in with a shout of winning the league, in which case i'd be delighted if we spent the rumoured £90m on him.

Can't see anyone getting him for 50m. He is simply worth more to Arsenal. He is worth from 30m gbp in CL income 2018 and the remaining 20 m gbp is a fair price to pay to keep the team from falling apart and everyone leaving.

I'd say 70-80 m will get them talking.

Surely we can just employ canteen workers for this...?

That said, at least we now know what Lingard brings to the dressing room.

If we get Sanchez and a DM along with Lukaku that we already signed we'll win the title.

I found it strange just how open Robson was about Sanchez a few weeks ago.

I think there is every chance that he could be No1 (now Griez has gone) and Perisic 2, a bit like Morata and Lukaku.

You think Jose picks Lingard over Sanchez?
:wenger::eek:

And if he sulks and causes unrest?
What we paid for RvP in today's equivalent would be around £50m. (based on nothing concrete)

For me we should be throwing money at Arsenal for this guy. He'd win us the league (if we get a CDM) and make us competitive in the champions league. He'll pay himself off in a couple of seasons.

I'd push for this, makes so much sense from our perspective.

Ready to perform now and would work incredibly well behind Lukaku in a 4231 or on the right or left of the front 3.

Obviously a lot of political points here but stranger things have happened.
