Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Sanchez clearly has eyes only for City, strange he wouldn't be interested in a club like Bayern but given he only wanted London when he left Barca location is obviously a factor for him
Why? Because of pep? NO way. He's been there and was not too happy the first time round!

I think more to do with Arsenal not entertaining selling him to a rival. Sanchez won't end up at United for two reasons imo. If Wenger sells him, City will be interested, and he will choose to play for Pep.
Both wrong, 1 city are also a rival aren't they and 2 he is no fan of how pep utilised him.

Anyway, based on what's out there (not what his imaginary friends are telling the sun/mirror/other rubbish media) he will stay most likely and see how things pan over the season before moving next summer or re-sign with us.
Based on exactly what? his a mangers wishes, or what imaginary friends are telling the sun/mirror/other rubbish media? Come on you cant be both sides.

This summer he has said twice himself, once before the confederations cup and once during it, his mind has already been made up where he will play next season. Thats before the signings or comments or anything else someone has or hasn't said or done. We all thought Bayern, so did I. But now thats looks unlikely.

I personally think, he is gone and if he won't be sold this summer he is on a free next season. Can't see the most money obsessed board in england allowing anybody leave on a free especially their biggest asset. I dont see city being more ahead of united to be honest. But i do feel chelsea could be the dark horse, same city and an obvious end to the costa saga. And there is still PSG Milan, would Juve bid?

Its a good one for the nutural this. Hope its us but it really could be anywhere.

The reported fees for Perisic, I'd take that and add whatever to get Sanchez if possible.

Would make us serious contenders for the league.

based on what he said. You've just repeated me in more detailed way.

I'm putting my assumptions on what he said in the few interviews/press conferences he gave.

" His mind being made on where he will play next season" - doesn't necessarily mean he's going to move, can also mean he'll stick around.

Anyway what im trying to say is dont listen to paper bs, everyone here is jumping around based on city being favourites but this is all based on media guess work.

nothing concrete out there, heck im not even sure if city have even got in touch, its all journo's assuming shit.

Yea but there is ever increasing stories he is leaving and he is not denying it. Only arsenal are! In fact even arsenal are not denying it only stating he has not asked to leave.

My feeling is he'll stay. He loves London.

Imo. the best possible move for Alexis that would most beneficial would either be Chelski or United.

Spurs would be good too but I doubt if he is willing to put up with the crap that comes along with it -- that is if Levy is willing to stump up the cash. City is too crowded up front.

I don't think Mourinho will go for him, if I remember correctly he does not always follow Wenger's tactics.

I'd not say "nothing concrete" since there is evidence to point towards his willingness to move - if not explicit desire to do so.

1. Refused to sign a contract and is in his final year
2. Spoke about CL
3. All the stories aren't from just English rags or even Chilean media; German media was clear that Bayern wanted him, Alexis was open to moving, but demanded sky-high wages convincing Bayern that he wanted to move, but only to City (who could afford those wages)
4. Uli Hoeness' interview didn't mention him by name, but made it clear that the above was likely to be true - that Bayern just didn't feel Sanchez at his age, justified the money that would be needed for a move
5. He's refused to comment at all; while you could look at it as his not saying he wants to move, it would be so easy for him to kill all the stories by saying that he's staying, even if he puts in a caveat like "I would like to stay, but we need to discuss with the club to sort it out". Instead, he's allowing the rumour mills to churn on.

All that said, yeah, there's nothing like a statement from him saying he wants to move, but it's not like people are jumping to absolutely groundless conclusions about the possibility of his moving (which would be to City, sadly).

Another transfer people are trying to wish into existence.
It's not going to happen.

Aye, it's all a tad weird. I've read it numerous times on here, in this thread - that arsenal will sell to city and not us, because we're "rivals". I mean, yeah, I get the pep love and the fact that they finished slightly ahead of us last season - but come on, in what world are we rivals to Arsenal and city aren't?

I can understand the wenger hating Jose reasoning (though in the end, wenger won't have much of a say if the board says yes) or even the Alexis wanting pep (which didn't work amazingly well first time around either) reasoning. But some are acting like city are miles ahead of us, which isn't true.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

So much excitement over nothing concrete.

Everyone just going off on one over his supposed wanting to get out of arsenal.
Papers have done their job I suppose lol

Not a single legit source even said he wants to leave the club. The only words he uttered were that he knew 'what he was going to do' which as ambiguous an answer as it'll get.

Journos just put 2 n 2 together and assumed coz hes in his final year he wants to leave and city only choice by process of elimination, which I find absurd as he didn't have best of relationships with pep at Barca.

You guys can calm down, he won't go to united even if you offer 100 mil. Wenger has more influence at board level than you lot think. Anything to do with Mou just won't happen, if you had van gaal then maybe...

Anyway, based on what's out there (not what his imaginary friends are telling the sun/mirror/other rubbish media) he will stay most likely and see how things pan over the season before moving next summer or re-sign with us.

I think it's pretty clear he wants to leave.
First of all the biggest sign is the fact he has not signed a new contract. It's a good wage on offer for your best player, if he believes you are the club which matches his ambitions, then he'd sign it. A player who believes that he sees himself at a certain club for the foreseeable future will sign a contract to reflect that, it's not rocket science, this is not a player worried about game time or whatever.

There is no need to be cryptic here. Given the fact he hasn't signed, why does he have to come out and say he has made a decision on his future. If he wants to stay at Arsenal, he simply signs a contract and won't have to say anything else.

I think he will leave, and for a premier league club. It's just a matter of which gives the best offer, and by that I don't mean money. I mean the club which 1) Sanchez thinks matches his ambition.
2) Offers the least backlash from the fans.
3) My thinking is that Wenger and the board, may feel that next season is about getting into the top 4 and hypothetically they are more in competition with Manchester United, Liverpool and Spurs than with City and Chelsea.

My opinion is that Sanchez will be a City player.

And if he sulks and causes unrest?
What we paid for RvP in today's equivalent would be around £50m. (based on nothing concrete)

I guess he could threaten with that, but who has ever done that in reality for a whole year. Cant remember one star player doing it.

Ohh good question. Can remember plenty downing tools and acting the muppet behind the scenes from United alone, but for a whole year?

Maybe someone in Germany that Bayern acquired on a free/from Dortmund?

Good post. Except I think we are just as much in it for him.

Considerations:
- He wont be playing up top much at City or United
- Class players around him at City + Similar attacking style
- Guaranteed to be THE key player at United. He's the one to pass to all the time. At City not so much.
- Heavy competition from De Bruyne, Aguero, Silva, Jesus, Sterling
- City's defence. Why choose them for titles before they've bought some defenders?
- Fans / stadium / reputation

Lewandowski? but he was playing the whole year.

Berbatov delivered some threats too.

why is everyone talking about this?

Some random bet placed in Manchester on Sanchez moving to United yesterday caused a bookmakers to reduce the odds from 50-1 to 12-1, some random United insider account on Twitter claimed we made enquires for Sanchez, Robson praising him in public a few weeks back and Wenger saying he could still renew during the season and the similarities of the RvP transfer. Plus we need something to discuss now other than Morata. Think that just about covers it.

Thanks. So nothing then. A heavy fart could move 50/1 transfer odds more than that.

Yeah pretty much. Nothing like a Di Marzio comment or a proven source making a claim. But.........the fact Lukaku went under the radar has got a lot of people convinced every transfer is a cover for someone else and that we are signing everyone on the quiet.

Oh I agree. I'm sure every top club in the premier league is in for him. I mean it would be downright incompetent not to. I think the reason you won't get him will be to do with Arsenal more than Sanchez not wanting or wanting to come to you and certainly more than your willingness or unwillingness to pay the money to get him. Both you and City would hypothetically offer the same in terms of money. But if it's a choice between you and City as the clubs Arsenal have to sell to, I think they will more likely sell to City.

Exactly

This won't go down well, but I'd throw in Martial if it meant landing Sanchez...

And I love Martial.

But you can't let the chance to have 'Sanchez 7' slip - he should be our number 7, and if City get him it's a real coup for them. Sanchez should be here on Rooney's old wage.

Sanchez, Lukaku and Dier would be a real heavy statement - a statement worthy of the richest club on the planet.

Show Sanchez the money , you are in for a chance, all the talk about playing for a certain manager is all over hyped, just what Dani alves case showed

We can't throw martial at all.
