Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

If he goes to City I will explode.

They are stockpiled with attackers.

He would move to a club where the coach previously bought him, didn't use him and then sold him.

We are constantly told United cannot buy Premier League players anymore because it's too difficult. This season it appears City will buy Sanchez and Walker from title rivals.

We can't even use 'he doesn't want to move to Manchester' if he went to City.

Why are we not even linked with him?

Sick of this transfer window already. My inside muppet has spoken.

Haha, Sanchez is a fantastic player we really could use considering our last season.

Pep didn't sell him.

City will look formidable (on paper at least) if they added Sanchez to their ranks too.

Hopefully it's not true and he'll move abroad, assuming we have no chance of signing him.
Until they sort their defensive errors, I'm still not co

I can only think that players were not convinced by us being 6th best in the league and the lure of joining the Europa champions isn't that alluring............

More to the point. Arsenal should show some courage and not sell yet another player to City. They will get the money and knowing Wenger he will spend it on some complete unknown who will disappear within a couple of months. Their fans will go absolutely spare.

The vast majority of great teams were successful with a squad of world class players. It's common sense to build a team with that goal in mind. What makes Guardiola different to most managers is that he can successfully manage a squad of world class players. That's one of the things that made Sir Alex great. We don't look back at the 2008 team and say "sure, we won the league and CL, but Sir Alex didn't have much to do - we had Rooney, Tevez, Giggs, Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand and VdS". We praise him because he was able to build that team and knit it together.
Yeah I think SAF and his longevity is going to spoil a lot of managers reputations - especially amongst United fans.

Managers like Pep/JM etc. - most modern day managers who are unlikely to last 3 years, let alone 10, in any of the big jobs, will never really have the chance to get evaluated against "squad building".

Footballs almost exclusively moved towards instant success these days - especially with the money available. So most of these managers are going to be spending large to try and get either the finished product as a player or someone very close to that level.

Jose does not want him. That is why he is not coming to us.

City buying Sanchez would be complete overkill attacking wise for City. They already have Aguero, Gabriel, De Bruyne, Bernado Silva, David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Sane

Absolutely astonishing attacking options but defensively they are awful and will get cut open time and time again like last season especially in the Premier League

City won't worry me until they sign some world class defensive players. You won't win much when you only have two decent defensive options. A 32 year Fernandinho and a 31 year old crock in Kompany

Jose doesn't want the best player in the league who has 1-year left on his contract?? interesting. there were reports Jose had called him regarding a potential move. I hardly doubt Jose would prefer to sign Perisic than Alexis Sanchez for "tactical reasons"

Arsenal fans will react even worse if they sell Sanchez to us. A fact a lot of people here don't seem to get.

So would I be. He should have been told that he had to see out his contract or that he couldn't move to the PL. He is under contract to them.
I dont really think their owners are all about winning. They care more about the money and the profits. Could be a reason why they have stuck with Wenger for so long. They made Champions League every year, consistently in the top 4. Made money from season tickets, PL and CL revenue. Dont spend too much on players when compared to the other big teams on average. So if it meant getting 50-60m on Sanchez even from a PL rival, Im sure they will take the offer than worry about what the fans will think.

Wenger should tell Pep if he wants Sanchez then give us Gabriel Jesus + Leroy Sane + Kevin De Bruyne £60 million pounds in exchange.

The entire Arsenal fanbase will be sick if we sell Sanchez to City for the money. We don't need it, it won't be reinvested and it would be terrible for morale, both the squad and the fans.

Forget what Sanchez wants, its time for Wenger to stop indulging our players and force them to stay or go abroad. I would have told the little boy screaming Man Utd to sit down and shut up or go to Italy. Similarly no one forced Sanchez to sign a four year contract and he has one year left to run. He either signs a new contract, goes to Bayern or stays here, end of.

The board have no idea what they would be doing if they approve this sale. If they thought the atmosphere at the stadium last season was toxic, that will look tame compared to how it will be if they really sell Sanchez to Man City.

Before they could claim we needed the money from the sales. Fans forgave them for RVP to some degree but this .......... its a bridge too far. What message would it be sending if we say we want to compete for the title and then turn around and sell a 30 goal a season player to a direct rival?

You could be right. Actually you are right.

As someone said he would likely bring in Lacazettte, but if Wenger thinks he will get him on the cheap then forget it. They will then know he has money in his pocket and will want that and more. The clubs on the continent have us over a barrel with regards their big stars. We brag about our TV deal, so now we have to pay top dollar and get used to it.

That was the point ;).

Make an unreasonable offer that they won't ever take to basically say he isn't for sale.
I think you're disregarding the fact that 1. Sanchez doesnt want to stay at Arsenal and 2. he has one year on his contract. Arsenal absolutely have no hand in this. You have no bargaining power.

Pep didn't sell him.

I think half of this thread is ppl posting pep sold him at Barca when he clearly didn't .

I really don't understand ppl getting riled up about this thinking we should just throw money at the guy and that will be enough to change his mind

He clearly doesn't want to move to us there's simply nothing we can do about this .Its pointless being wound up about it

Are you serious there?

I don't think your club will allow him to run down his contract and leave for free; your only hope is Wenger to convince him to sign a new contract, but I don't see this happening.

My point was that his style made City's defence worse than they are. Stones and Otamendi looked like average players with a panic every time the ball was near them. You mainly manage to do the opposite in the first half of the season.

Not sure what you are suggesting here, to be honest.
I think I was meant to quote @giorno :nervous::lol:
apologies!!

So any chance we could get him?

How many Guardiola players has Mourinho signed ? (Fabrigas, Pedro, Eto'o).

Edit: None quite worked out for him if i am correct.

Last post about his here since i'm being called out

@Liver_bird first half of the season: 19 games, 46 GF, 21 GA, 43 points. Second half of the season 19 games, 32 GF, 21 GA, 33 points

See where the problem was?

I say we offer them Rooney, Young and Smalling for Sanchez. Wenger can't resist a bargain.

How is it a bargain when Arsenal would have to cough up a combined 600k £/week wages for those three bench warmers

Clearly, it was a joke. We would be lucky to give away those three.

Arsenal would have to sell if he is determined to leave. That is the position they have put themselves in by letting his contract run down to one year.

He would be absolutely perfect for United. He is exactly what we need. Unfortunately, we are far from favourites.

If City get him as well as a couple of their other targets... wow. What a summer for them.

It obviously escaped your attention but City's defense got significantly better as the season progressed. Who do you think conceded the least amount of goals in the second half of the season, City or Chelsea?

Sick of this transfer window already. My inside muppet has spoken.

This.

Not even an attempt to get Sanchez and/or Lacazette! It's a fecking joke. Two class players who would have improved our attack considerably and who are instead going to improve our direct competition.

So you know we haven't made an attempt do you?..seriously can ppl here get a grip ..theres nothing we can do if a player does not want to go nothing .

How many times does Sanchez have to turn us down so ppl can accept this .

He clearly wants city and Pep who I have to repeat did not see him at Barca and at the end of the day if he goes to city yes they are pretty much nailed on for the league and possibly more

If he joined us he would have the same chance of success he has had at Arsenal .

I swear the same ppl getting up in arms over this are the same ppl couldn't understand us not going after Aubameyeng a guy with one of the worst attitudes iv seen in a player

Fergie always said he would only sign players who only wanted to pay for united hopefully Jose had the same mindset

?
We're linked with Dier and apparently he's ours for 50m but it looks like we're signing Matic. That's a choice between two English rivals.

What do people want us to do? Kidnapp Sanchez? He's turned us down twice already for feck sake.

How do YOU know we have tried to get them? How do you know that Sanchez doesn't want to come to United, and what of Lacazette, who you have failed to mentioned in your post? Rather than rehashing and re gurgling out the same garbage, why don't you show me a post from any reliable article/reporter which supports your claims?

And for Goodness' sake, stop your attitude of type casting people. When did I ever talk about Auba? Also, Do you perceive yourself to be some kind of a know-it-all football pundit giving you a right to project yourself in a superior way saying that you know better than some people who supposedly keep harping about Aubameyang?

The truth is buddy, you, not unlike me, know precious little of what is going on behind our club's dealings and our only source of info is the media, which itself comprises of rubbish 95% of the time. So, keep your know-it-all complex to yourself. I'm yet to see any reliable media outlet who have linked us with Sanchez. And regd. Lacazette, for a team who scored only 4 goals more than the 14th placed team, I think getting Morata(if we can get him) as well as Laca should have been a priority, with Laca complementing Alvaro( again, if he comes) very well and being versatile enough to play anywhere at the top. Lacazette is not only lethal finisher, but is also fast, good dribbler and offers a better hold-up play than any current striker in our squad.

Oh and it's Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, not Aubameyeng! Cheers! ;)

Wenger must know the fury it'd cause amongst their fans if he sold Sanchez to City.
Surely? Unless they can really spin it that Sanchez refused to either stay or go abroad and said he'd strike/not be bothered etc.

Otherwise they'll be under severe pressure, when it was always going to be very awkward the first year outside of the champions league for decades

If he joined us he would have the same chance of success he has had at Arsenal .

Not quite as straight forward as that i'd say, bearing in mind Arsenal haven't been close to challenging for the league for a decade, and are under the same regime that failed to secure a proper challenge.

Whereas we have a serial winner, who even in a season he describes as his most difficult as a manager still won 2 trophies.

We only finished under Arsenal as we in effect sacrificed the league to ensure the Europa, and it's unthinkable that we can be as repeatedly comedy in our wastefulness especially at home to lowly teams next year.

Now City's chances versus ours is a different story! They seem to be accumulating an abundance of attacking talent, and are almost the opposite of us!
Oh to combine a half of each team!

Perhaps but maybe he is looking at the three years he has been in Arsenal ... You couldn't blame him for looking at how we have been in that period and to consider us a step down

I don't like it but it's not like it was under Fergie .. Even with Jose we are not the most attractive option for a lot of world class players anymore .

Then again it is better on the long term that any players we do sign are coming to us knowing that and wanting to pay for the club and help us get back to the top ... I'd take that over players wanting city because they feel it will give them instant success or go to Arsenal and Chelsea because they want to live in London
