Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Reckon we have no chance of buying him from Arsenal, and if we managed it then it would be at some ridiculous price.

Still wouldn't hurt to toss in a bid and more importantly wave the possibillity of £250k+/week wages in front of Alexis, just to annoy them a bit.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. We've won more trophies than you since Fergie left, have a better team and have finished above you every season.

We'll probably better your trophy haul in the coming months. We have a top draw manager so I'd say its Arsenal who will struggle once again to attract decent players.

So in the intervening years since 2004/5? you've won 2 FA Cups, one final of the UCL, one semi and gone out at this stage of the UCL since 2010. We've won 5 PLs, been in 3 UCL finals winning 1, Yet the fact that you've finished above us in the last 3 years and haven't really come close to winning the PL,fills you with satisfaction.

I'm quietly delighted at that.:wenger:

That's not relevant to Sanchez is it though?

Don't get me wrong, now that Mourinho is at the helm there's a very good chance United will re-establish themselves back with the big boys but since Sanchez joined Arsenal, they've finished above United every season and been in the CL, whereas United have been in the CL once and crashed out in the group stage.

If United finish in the top 4 this season I can definitely see Sanchez being tempted, but if United finish behind Arsenal again and miss out on continental qualification I can't see why he'd move from Arsenal to United.

If we're not in for him, City and/or Chelsea should be. Pep factor could help City in that regard. Chelsea are an upgrade on everything Arsenal can offer, plus more.

More trophies, true, finished above us every season since Fergie, also true, but can't agree with the better team comment. You'll probably point to the respective positions and all, but I would only take Sanchez into our starting XI on current form, at a push maybe Monreal and Koscielny.

Is it true that Alexis has been granted a few days off and will miss the Sutton game?

You've won 2 FA Cups in about a decade. One more trophy than United over the last 3 years, in a period we've had our worst spell in 3 decades down to a great manager leaving.

If we can drop off from winning the league to this malaise, how do you know you won't drop off from even scuffling for 4th?

To have Zlatan, Pogba & Co ask for immediate pay rises, too? What you could pay a single player is one thing, what you'll be willing to offer him without risking to jeopardize your overall wage structure is another.
Zlatan and pogba are already on similar wages, why would they ask for a raise? Alexis is a WC player, not some unproven youngster

@Inigo Montoya

To the people who quoted me - I don't think what happened in a different era of United and in the previous decade would be of interest to a 28 year old Sanchez looking for instant success.

Time to manage expectations lads and concentrate on actually qualifying for the Champions League first. I'm not here to put down United but it's hard not to offer a reality check in the face of delusion.

The main thing holding us back is our manager. Hopefully we will bring one in that has a clear identity and is fit to manage at the elite level that we always find ourselves lacking at.

Because we're not gonna sign David fecking Moyes as replacement for Wenger

Sanchez set to quit Arsenal according to John Cross and Juventus and PSG are in a two way battle to sign him.

The issue is there will be a few clubs who will happily pay 50m for him. Bayern, Juve, Chelsea, PSG etc.... And all of them would be in the champions league as well. I don't see this happening tbh.

Bayern and June are guaranteed success because they play in leagues where they do not have competition.

That said, I'd be confident he'd pick us over anyone.

Mourinho is building something big here.

I don't think anyone is going to give Arsenal 50m for him when he will only have 12 months left on his contract. They will be lucky to get their money back, was it 35m?

We paid 42 for Miki, was it not?
Well we released to the English media that we paid about £26m, while Dortmund released that they sold him for €42m, which was closer to £35m. Honestly, I feel like it was more likely to be £26m.
In terms of Sanchez, when looking at his age and contract situation, Arsenal would probably get close to £40m for him.

Do you really though? Doesn't really look like you have a better team than any of the other top 6 really.

If we win some stuff this year and get CL, coupled with early summer signing of Griezmann I think he'd be very tempted to join us. But Arsenal will never sell to us after RVP. I reckon it's gonna be City or Bayern.

I know Zlatan is proving everyone wrong at 35 same with Ronaldo at 32, but Sanchez will be 29 this year, Rvp had 1 super season with us and faded quickly after his move.

Is Sanchez just looking for his last big payday?

Its because Ferguson was the difference. Now hes gone and we've been horrific in that time since

Why would he pick us now, he turned us down twice already....and we aren't even guaranteed champions league football yet. Arsenal would be fools to sell him to us.

Agreed, but I cannot see arsenal selling him to us

RVP played a lot of football from a young age like Rooney, and unfortunately for him had big injury problems too. I don't think Sanchez has had those problems, but his energetic style of play certainly won't help him keep going if he loses his speed.

Where is psg going to put him....they have di Maria, draxler and Lucas for their wide/inside forward spots already
