So much stuttering from Arsenal

2m add ons, why not just pay the full fee he is world class.

Makes me think why don't we just go in there and bid 45m offer him silly wages and be done. No messing about.

Glad you're not finance director.

I think we had an utter shite manager last season.
Couple that with the fact Arsenal still couldn't beat us last season, and don't have an actual decent CF I think its debatable.

EDIT: We had an awful season, but I'm sorry that doesn't make Arsenal better than us

League table doesn't lie. As of the end of last season, they were quite a bit better than us. We're signed 2 good players, but Arsenal are about to sign a great player, and game changer.

So basically Everton are better than us too then?
Your in for a real surprise next season.

As of the end of the season, yeah. They beat us home and away too. I think following our 2 signings and the fact Everton no longer have Lukaku then we're ahead of them now. Plus we have the LvG factor of course. We're still quite a bit behind Arsenal, Liverpool City and Chelsea and we need a lot more than fecking Shaw and Herrera to close that gap, especially when they're signing top players

Arsenal are currently better than United. It's not a debate outside this forum.
Absolutely. The bias on here is embarrassing at times. If we do sign Vidal, a top CB and a winger then I fully expect us to finish above your lot next season, and I'm sure you do as well.

Seems odd that we're not doing all we can to sign this guy. Genuine world class player becomes available and we do nothing. What makes it worse is that he goes to a rival already better than us.

Last sentence asid, this particular moan could have been cut and paste from dozens of comments about Ozil last summer.

Would disagree with the last sentence, as it happens.

I think it'd be close. I can't see fourth place next season being further than 8 points from the top.

Nah, you can argue the toss about that all day. Arsenal finished ahead of United in the league in one season. They need to do that consistently for a few seasons before there's any change to the established pecking order in the PL.

I'm not saying it's an established pecking order. I'm saying at this point in time it's undeniable. A season is a long time - it's 38 whole games to judge on.

What you're saying is that we could finish ahead of you between now and 2018 but you'd only accept we were better in about 2020.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.

I'm saying that one season could easily be considered an aberration (from either club) With each season the pattern repeats itself this becomes less likely. Feck it, if the league table is the same next season you'd have a very good case for saying Arsenal are now a stronger/better side than United. As it stands, you're being hasty to come to that conclusion.

Fine. We'll see. Personally, I can see the top four being the same next season and the topic of discussion being 'was it really all Moyes' fault?'

Pointless argument anyway. The league is not based on head to heads. There's 38 games to play.

20 years of achievement and domination isnt reversed in 12 months or 38 games....That argument is whats really pointless!!!!!

It can be. That's your problem.

Your 20 years of domination had one common factor who's now swanning around Boston giving lectures.

The legacy is a stadium and a club with the financial clout based on its own revenue streams (not a rich benefactor) which are unrivaled in the PL. I'd still rather Van Gaal than Wenger. I think the majority of Gooners would to. So on all fronts we are better off than Arsenal.

I can't believe after one bad season people underrate United. Anyway people will be eating humble pie next season. Arsenal better than United
They won the fecking FA cup and celebrated like they won the league FFS

They were better than us, the league doesn't lie. We got rid of Moyes, brought in LVG and two great signings but no football's been played. It's up to us to go and prove it next season. At this moment in time it's impossible to say imo.

Its laughable really. Because they buy Sanchez who they need apparently. Although they didnt need Cesc because they are well covered! Wengers logic is brilliant. Gooners rationalising his logic is even better. Deep down they know its just the same headless buying patterns they've had for 7-8 years. Need Ozil...dont need Cesc...need sanchez....dont need striker.....dont need quality DM.....

Come on now, Arsenal were comfortably better than us last season.

We celebrated going ahead against Fulham like we'd won the Champions League. I'm not sure why people are downplaying how important the next 12 months are. Last season doesn't make us the worst team of all time, but it's up to everyone involved this year to earn their place back towards the top again. It's nonsensical to go on with this mythical view that United are still the best.

It's rather silly to be slighting a team's achievements, especially winning something as coveted in England as the FA Cup. It may not be the league title but it's a very important trophy to win since I was growing up. It's a fan boy mentality. Any team winning a trophy should celebrate...the players worked hard to do it.

The transfer window just opened hence I didn't know there was an order to buying the players you needed. And Cesc would have been bought only for sentimental reasons...the team moved on from him since 2011 and they didn't need to bring him back.

Its like saying Rooney is a better player than RVP just because his form was a bit better last season, its just silly.

If you say so.....!

Wenger would leave Arsenal as someone who did what was best for the club. If he didn't care about Arsenal he would have stayed in Highbury and woo a rich owner to bankroll them. At the end of the day, he left the club in a way better state than he met it...that alone is priceless and in my opinion, no amount of trophies can buy.

Of course they are. Football is very much about what's going on right now.

Comparing a player season to season and comparing a club season to season is just not the same.

They might not yet be a 'bigger club' or have as many fans but on the pitch right now you'd back Arsenal before you'd back United...particularly when you consider that as of right now we don't know what progress has been made. LVG could be as big a disaster as Moyes.

I don't think Arsenal are that great a team, thats just my opinion. They basically once again got 4th place, never really looked like title contenders, were spanked by most of the tops clubs. Just my opinion, also its my opinion that as a team we massively underperformed last season, mainly due to having an inept manager and players who didn't believe in him.

Its not about United being a bigger club, IMO we had better players last season in all areas of the pitch bar midfield. We had a shite manager who couldn't motivate and get the best out of the players. Which is why we finished where we did.

By all accounts people are saying because they finished above us they are better which means Everton and Tottenham are also better. No chance. Moyes has obviously done a number of many fans.

Anyway I am confident next season we will put this joke of an opinion to bed.

FA Cup hasn't been an important trophy for a long time now. No-one (from the big clubs) gives a shit about it. The previous year it was won by Wigan who got relegated on the same season, a few years ago it was won by Portsmouth who then went bankrupt. For the big teams only the league and UCL are important. For Arsenal of ocurse it is important but they aren't a big team and the last time they won the league, more than half of their players have been playing on junior level.

never really looked like title contenders? yeah ok you keep believing that.

never really looked like title contenders? yeah ok you keep believing that.

Not at the business end of the season they didn't.
They always look like they can do something before Jan, then after they fade as usual. Its typical Arsenal not surprising.
Util they invest in a proper tough CM and a real top quality Striker they will never be real contenders in my eyes. Maybe Wenger will prove me wrong, maybe.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

So basically you don't belive that a team can play better but not actually be better than another?
So you mean to say when WestBrom outplayed us at Old Trafford last season that means they are better than us?
Because they we're better than us THAT DAY but they are not better than us.

So I am saying Arsenal were better than us LAST SEASON but they are not better than us.

In other words we UNDERPERFORMED last season.

They played better than us last season, but they are not a better team than us in general.

I.E they were better than us for a period of time, but I don't believe we showed our true level last season.

Or in other words they were in better FORM than us last season.

I'm not sure how else I can say it.

This has basically been the shite that Liverpool fans have been vomiting out for years. That their team is better than ours man for man, despite them finishing 7th and us winning titles. Right now, Arsenal are better, the table proves that. Moyes or not, we were fecking awful and I hope that LVG can turn that around with even more additions, offloads and most of all, a bloody good plan.
