Alexis Sanchez | Signed for Arsenal

He doesn't strike me as an Arsenal sort of player, but if Wenger can see his system needs a tweak then it's a great move for them because they'll forever be hovering about the 4th place area unless they add more direct players such as Alexis.

All that laying down on the beach paid off...but the choice probably became easier given that Liverpool would be less likely to offer him a great contract, Chelsea don't need him, City can't spend money like that and we're out of the CL so it's a huge risk at the peak of his career - assuming his heart was set on the PL.

When you see Lallana going for £25m, you can't help feeling we're overpaying.
That's not what I'd get from those two fees, tbh. One fee is grossly inflated, one is either about right or on the low side.

You heartless so and so, just couldn't resist twisting the knife couldn't you ? Remember it's Liverpool not Spurs so go easy on them! On a serious note I'm sad that we couldn't/didn't compete for his signature because he is the sort of player I feel United should always have but at least he hasn't gone to Liverpool .

No way he would have got this deal in another season. I don't recall him doing much for Barcelona, although they tend to inhibit players who have a more direct game (also, Fabregas).

He'll be a great signing for Arsenal if he can replicate his form in Serie A. Arsenal still have problems they need to fix, but there is still time to deal with those problems.

 I don't think anyone else saw I was joking.

I really hope this doesn't fall through now!

Absolutely gutted that we couldn't get him. Don't really care that he is going to Arsenal instead of Liverpool, it does little to comfort me because either way a title challenger/top 4 spot challenger is being massively strengthened. He would have been a perfect player for us, a goalscoring, tricky winger that we have been crying out for, for the last 3 years. Oh well, time for our next targets.

Since this looks done, it's a good time for some bitterness. Last season was Sanchez's best since leaving Udinese, however he created fewer chances per 90 minutes than Rosicky, dribbled less than Ramsey and with a lower success rate than Arteta, and also had a lower shooting accuracy than Nicholas Bendtner.

Goal scoring record:
Sanchez did score an impressive 19 goals in 34 games in the league last season, but 17 of those 19 goals came at home. He doesn't score much away, and he doesn't score much in the Champions League either; in 3 seasons at Barcelona, and 24 Champions League appearances, he's managed just 3 goals. He's struggled vs Real Madrid too: 3 goals in 13 appearances since he arrived in Spain.

Looking at his record through the eyes of someone not twisted by jealousy though, it looks like 39 goals and 25 assists in 88 La Liga games, which for a player who's predominantly coming from a wide-right position, is obviously very good. A few issues with consistency/big games aside, he'll sadly do very well for Arsenal (particularly if he's able to play centrally, where he has previously excelled for both Chile and Udinese). Good signing.

I hope that this doesn't mean Walcott will be benched. He, Sanchez and Ozil could be lethal.

Gutted. I wasn't too fussed with Arsenal getting Ozil but this Sanchez signing is fantastic business. Can't believe we weren't in for him and and if we were and he rejected us, then feck off Moyes!

My head is completely spinning about this transfer.

Arsenal are building a really strong midfield and front line now, they still lack a bit at the back but the age of their squad is really promising. Tipping them to have a big season.

All teams are strengthening considerably. We have strengthened, as have Chelsea and City.

True.

It's crazy how good the top teams in England will be this season, squad wise. Suppose it will all come down to how they are managed, I'm backing LVG.

I think the gifs are ready to come out here:

He is a very good player, Arsenal will improve alot with him up front I'm afraid.

I'm still clinging on to the hope we will hijack the move and sign him at the last minute. :wenger:

We haven't strengthened enough though - Infact have we strengthened as we lost Vidic/Giggs? We need another central midfielder and central defender.

Chelsea and Liverpool look have to have strengthened the most (so far).

Congratulations Arsenal...

 Perfect.

But in all honestly, I'm happy for Arsenal and the Premier League. As much as I hate Suarez, the Premier League is losing it's top talent for a second year running, so player's like Sanchez should maintain a strong league and allow Match of the Day to be watchable.

Vidic and Giggs ? Giggs barely played for us and Vidic is clearly not a player in his prime anymore.

We strengthened considerably by signing LvG.... in all positions.

For feck sake £27.5 m and £2.3m in bonuses and a salary of £100k....why the hell aren't we outbiding them on this one. £35m and Barcelona wouldn't dream selling him to Arsenal, £150k a week and Sanchez wouldn't give a damn about not living in London and not playing CL for one season.

Another one of these deals that I just can't comprehend, why does United let these deals always slip away from them ?

Then we pay £27.5m for Fellaini, £29m for Herrera and Shaw for more than £30m, I'll never get it. Woodward better comes out with Di Maria or Reus or else this summer has failed miserably again for me. Our wings are fecking terrible and than we let Sanchez walk away from under our nose...

Possibly because our manager didn't want him or the player didn't want to come. Either way, don't wind yourself up about it.
