Alexis Sanchez | Signed for Arsenal

Completely agree, it was more a joke based on the old Wenger's plan that people had fun with earlier.
You can't buy world class players for every position, but it seems to me like Wenger likes to have world class in one position instead of spreading it out.

For example i'd rather have Özil and Cazorla to do the playmaking with a talented kid, and have a world class striker up top than to have another quality option in Sanchez on the line behind the striker. That said buying Sanchez wouldn't necesserily rule out the chances of Arsenal buying a top class striker, left back and defensive midfielder. It's just less likely from us outsiders view.

Yeah, agreed. I just try not to get caught up in transfer drama. If we sign a good player, that's cool I guess. I hope we sign another good player too, but there is such a dearth of reliable info that I don't get worked up until it is on the official website.

One last go, as I think we're pretty much in agreement here, really, and it's hard to keep arguing in such circumstances, however bored you are.

How would you feel if Sanchez was signed and no Giroud replacement? It would be hard not to think the two linked, if that were to come to pass.

I'd be disappointed because I don't believe Giroud is good enough to be first choice. I think we are in for another, although you never know with Wenger. I've said a number of times neither Sanogo or Campbell are not close to ready. Sanchez is still a good buy for us, doubly so if Cazorla goes.

What's the Cazorla rumour?

Giroud would work great with a great finisher IMO. Lovely control and technique but lacks that finishing touch. That said, I don't watch him week in week out. My Arsenal supporting friend doesn't think he's good enough either.

Would have though Mandzukic would be perfect for you lot.

Doesn't have the dynamism or variety to score against top sides. Is good back up. Don't know too much about Mandzukic except I believe he's similar to Giroud and not tremendously prolific.

Sanchez can play upfront on his own or with Giroud, which makes him a much better option than the likes of Mandzukic (not to mention the gulf in quality).

There's an article out there claiming we'll get di Maria and Sanchez. While my second reaction was to laugh at the improbability of it, my first was to think "I hope it's right".

With all this talk of spending 150mil pounds or more we might as well get all our muppet emotions out now, when they're in season.

If this is about Sanchez, then he is without a doubt if given the freedom to perform and not be messi's pet like everyone else at Barca. He'll finally be the proper top class player they've cried out for, a quick, direct player and someone who will get goals and assists. They still need a striker and a defensive midfielder, but getting Sanchez is a huge boost to their attack. Ozil and cazorla are very good players, but you need the directness and cutting edge of someone like Sanchez and they'll be a lot stronger for it.

Edit: actually looking at the other post I'm going to guess it was about koscielny or mertesacker or something.
It was Koscielny :) Sanchez is definitely world class though.

Lots of reports saying Sanchez has rejected United due to no Champions League If it's true then it is a massive kick in the teeth.

Mirror just came in with the obligatory "United set to hijack the deal for Arsenal and Liverpool target Alexis Sanchez".

Some tabloid was always bound to do it.

To be fair it's our own fault, we were shite last season. I can see why top players want to play in the CL every year. There's no guarantee we'll even be in it in 2015-2016!

Not overly worried about missing out on a bidding war for this guy, as good as he is. I think there are other options that could do us very well. I would prefer we get into the bidding war for Vidal as the other positions aren't nearly as vital to us.

Be rather hilarious if he joined either Arse or the scousers on that basis and then they missed out next season.

Embarrassing.

Arsenal's worse team was their 2011/2012 squad and they still made top 4. We should just resign to the fact that Wenger will always get them into the Champions League spots...no matter how bleak it may seem.

I honestly think we need both. One look at the squads of the top CL clubs and you can see they have top quality depth throughout.

All of our wingers are terrible, except Adnsn

There is no way we can fit 2 new wingers plus Rooney, Mata and RVP in the same side....someone would have to go, and its possibly Rooney in that scenario.

Wonder if Barca will keep him with Neymars injury and Suarez suspension.

If we're not in for Sanchez, then for me I hope it's because Van Gaal already has Depay on the cards.

Its all about havin a great squad - not just about the 1st 11. The better the quality of players - the better the options we'd have. I couldnt give a shite if players are disgruntled (apart from Adnan) if we're whoopin ass all around us this season..

The more upgrades in - the better..
