They'll Arsenal-ise him and end up finishing 4th again.
They are still weak at the back (especially since losing Sagna). I wouldn't be overly worried about Arsenal getting Sanchez but I would be more annoyed that United didn't get him when I think he would be a brilliant addition.

Sanchez is generally much less lethal than Walcott and playing him up front didn't do Arsenal much good.

We're weak in the base of midfield, not in defence itself. That's where the 6-3, 6-0 and 5-1 derived from.

They'll probably play Walcott up front. Walcott's finishing is probably one of his best attributes, and his pace will trouble any center back.

Walcott's awful up front. Fantastic on the wing, however. He scored one hat-trick against Newcastle when up-top and that's it.

Could play a diamond in midfield / false 9 with Ozil pulling the strings, Walcott and Sanchez both leading the line

--------Arteta--Ramsey----------
-------------Ozil----------------
----Sanchez------Cazorla--------
------------Giroud---------------

Maybe?

I don't rate Szcensey, Mertesacker or Koscielny very highly tbh. Ye do need a strong defensive midfielder too like ourselves.

Looks as nailed on to go to Arsenal as the Fabregas to Chelsea deal in my opinion.

While Koscielny and Mertesacker have the individual reputations of donkeys, together they are very solid imo.

Arsenal's biggest problem defensively (especially against the big boys where they're exploited) is the way Wenger sets them up. Full-backs push up ridiculously high and only Arteta provides cover who's more timid than Carrick in midfield.

Mertesacker would be awful next to someone equally slow, but centre-halves have to be good pairs. Koscielny is out and out world class but we've had this discussion before on this forum.

Agree. But Mertesacker will get found out eventually. He simply is too slow to be a top CB. I can see him being a major weakness for them next year. But if Wenger gets a great DM next to Ramsey, their CBs won't have much to do anyway.

Yep, this bit as well as Ramsey keeping his form is key to their season i think. A good striker as well and they'll be a much more formidable side.

Walcott was great up front last season, albeit he only played a few games there due to his injury. The Spuds game where he hurt himself he was especially impressive, no one could track his runs.

Is it? I wouldn't have a clue to be honest lol don't really pay much attention to that side of the sport.

Don't know mate, someone on the gooner forum seems to think they have the same agent. Either way there are other random players they have followed.

You are weak in the base of midfield, but scorelines like that can only really rarely be put on a single player.

Weren't some of those games where you played a high line and Mertesacker had trouble? Without Neuer's sweeping, Algeria could have had 3 or 4 the other day.

Well that's because you haven't watched them much. I don't see how you can have that view after watching Koscielny last year.
I seem to have touched a nerve. Szcesney is not too steady. Mertesacker is a good defender but is too slow and Koscielny is prone to a mistake. If Koscielny is so good then why is Varane and Sakho preferred to him in the French set up.

Name the last mistake you saw Koscielny make.

Not on one player, but it's pretty clear in this day and age that you can't put an immobile player in away at Chelsea, push up high and allow them in behind.

A strong/quick DM with good positioning is the key. Mertesacker and Koscielny have formed a great partnership, but we need a intelligent DM in the side who can screen for them.

How many players do you realistically think you need to challenge for the title?
We challenged for the title last season, mostly down to a near perfect record against the bottom half. We desperately need more quality up front and a top class Arteta replacement to improve against the big boys, where we obviously failed. After that it's just filling the holes in the squad - RB and reserve CB. Manage all of that (a huge accomplishment) and we'll improve significantly... but probably fall short for the title.

I'd have thought something like
------ Ramsey --- Schneiderlin -------
---------------- Ozil -----------------
--- Walcott --- Giroud --- Sanchez ---

Sadly I think Arsenal will sign Sanchez. I think he would suit United better than Di Maria or Cuadrado.

I haven't watched a lot of Arsenal recently but I have seen an Arsenal forum questioning whether he was good enough. It was from the start of the season but one good season doesn't make you world class.

I suppose you think he's world class too?
If this is about Sanchez, then he is without a doubt if given the freedom to perform and not be messi's pet like everyone else at Barca. He'll finally be the proper top class player they've cried out for, a quick, direct player and someone who will get goals and assists. They still need a striker and a defensive midfielder, but getting Sanchez is a huge boost to their attack. Ozil and cazorla are very good players, but you need the directness and cutting edge of someone like Sanchez and they'll be a lot stronger for it.

Edit: actually looking at the other post I'm going to guess it was about koscielny or mertesacker or something.

I was thinking more along the lines of

----------DM
----Ramsey Wilshere/Ox
----------Ozil
Walcott -------- Sanchez
