Alexis Sanchez | Signed for Arsenal

Only way he is going to arse over us is if we weren't interested.

We desperately need a quality winger. Our current time options are beyond shocking
Catalan radio said he doesn't want United because we're not in the CL.

That's a load of Bollocks.Everywhere in England is a shithole compared to Barcalona. If he's willing to move to England, he won't care where.
You're kidding yourself if you don't think a millionaire South-American couple in their mid-20s don't find London a more attractive place to live than the North West of England.

Cazorla isn't on the decline. Someone who is as two-footed and as good on the ball doesn't decline A player like him has a hard time chasing wingers and full-backs when he's played out wide, he's just doesn't have the physicality for that kind of game.
That is all true, which is part of the reason I don't feel too bothered about his future, especially after all the links to Atletico this summer. If we're playing Theo and Ozil, another weak(er) midget who lacks pace isn't going to help us much either way. Even more so as he gives the ball away so cheaply - like Podolski, I just don't think he's that good a fit for the team we've built now.

I can understand him turning us down, even if his reasoning is a little short sighted. I thought everyone who turned us down in the past 10 years did so in favour of a 'project'? Oh well.

Still a bit arrogant to think the reason he won't sign for us is that we never wanted him, mind.

There must be more to it, if the sole reason that he wouldn't sign for us were because we're not in the champions league this year then he would have to be one thick bell-end. Going to Arsenal is would be pretty much giving up on ever winning a major trophy again, at least as long as Wenger is manager. Either way I can't say i'm too bothered as there's quite a few options out there atm.

The only source right now suggesting he's uninterested in a move to Manchester United due to the lack of Champions League is a Mickey Mouse radio station, correct?

Only reason I'm guessing we won't go for him is because his best performances come when he's playing through the middle.

Places I'd rather live than London:
In order---
Manchester
Basra
Prison
Hell
Under a bridge
Leeds
Luis Suarez mouth
Hitlers right arse cheek
Liverpool
And if there was absolutely no other option than this or London, America

 it's not that bad, you should try Stockholm. Having said that, Manchester>London any day! Up the North!

I've asked this before and I'm not sure anyone answered, but where does Sanchez play when Walcott returns? They both play most effectively on the right wing, right?
I'm probably in the minority, but I think his best is in the middle rather than out wide on the right. His best season for Udinese came when he was playing behind Di Natale, and for Chile he's been excellent playing behind the striker. His vision and playmaking abilities are definitely underrated. He doesn't beat his man as often anymore, and he's nothing special in tight spaces. His end product has been improving for Barcelona playing out wide, but he's restricted as Messi and recently Neymar will always be the main men.

If you have money London is a terrific city.
If you have money everywhere is a terrific city.

Manchester has plenty of ultra posh suburbs and you can actually drive that flash Ferrari without getting stuck in traffic every 50 yards.

Granted, the nightlife doesn't measure up to London, but I don't want to be signing players who treat that as a priority. If we'd signed Ronaldinho ahead of Barca in 2003, I reckon he would have stayed world class for at least an extra couple of years.

Someone's never been to Swindon.

The anti-London bias of some of the northerners on here is hilarious.

Being rich in London is absolutely glorious. Food, nightlife, culture, art, events, whatever the feck you want.

Comparing London and Manchester is like comparing Man United and Bolton.

To international footballers, it is as attractive a place to live as any city in Europe.

I always scratch my head at this "London great", "Manchester sh!t" breakdown as if it's a simple difference.

Both are big cities, and any top player won't be living in the crapper areas. You'll get a lot more for your money in Manc then London as well.

You can understand a bit the Chelsea rejections over us, top dollar, and recent history of a lot of trophies, but Arsenal takes a lot more head scratching.

I didn't present it as a dichotomy. I was just commenting on the rather peculiar British habit of shitting on their capital, which is admired throughout the rest of the world. I like Manchester, my brother lived there for a while and I visited a couple of times, was great fun.

It doesn't really look like you are in for him.

So far, it seems that we're not actually interested. This could just be because the press don't have a clue, as seen with the Herrera deal.

Fingers crossed we are as it seems extremely feasible that we'd get him. A good price too.

Fair enough. I live 20miles away, and would hate to work there. So busy, grey and a real rush. Not to mention the ridiculous pricing.
But obviously, on the leisure side it's terrific.

And then my experience of the North West is limited to rocking up at Old Trafford every few weeks!

Yep, a real shame, but then it's been one of the maddest summers I can remember for players we're linked to.

just seems odd that a quality team like Barcelona, are shifting someone who scored 20 odd goals from a wide attacking position off, and we're not having a gander.

Without a doubt Minger. Thats why PSG are gonna make some serious waves too. Who wouldnt want to live in Paris?

The most beautiful city in the world - bar none in my opinion. If you havent been - do that shit asap. Its pure fantasy Island with the creation of so many wonderful buildings & then you see the Louvre in all its entarity from the outside - nevermind the inside.

If i ever got so lucky to be able to live there - i'd never get bored. Its impossible to do so...

Apologies for goin off on a tangent there folks. I just kinda like Paris a little bit more than Dublin

Sanchez?

Class player & would run rings around the Prem's best - only if he comes to us though. Then he'll be a shite player if he joins one of the scum of course. You know how it works

I have lived in London and I find it too fast paced to be honest. I would still prefer it to Manchester but to be honest it isn't a great place to live either. If I had to choose a place to live then I'd go for Florence, Rome or Venice. I would love to live in a small village though such as Bath or Llangollen. I also loved Cardiff. Don't ask me why, but feck I found it a pretty beautiful city.

The rumours are that we were rejected because we have no CL football.

Also, it seems like we are after Cuadrado.

Mata will prob play wide right of a front 3 like he did in the 2011 European Championships. Thats where Sanchez would have to play as well in a 4-3-3.........

Am I the only one who doesn't recall this ever actually being "on" beyond a few suggestions from ITK types?

I have no affection for Manchester but that is nonsense in that your point initially compares two cities to then compare to two clubs - you're comparing apples with oranges.

Manchester United are footballing royalty compared to any London club. That is a factor in all of this. To go off on one about which has the better museums is not necessarily a primary priority for an international footballer.

That said, I hope he signs for Liverpool - again, footballing royalty in terms of name, heritage and aura.

From that article:
Liverpool, however, have been given no indication Sánchez would snub Merseyside and obtaining his services was an essential element of what were described as “productive and realistic” preliminary negotiations over Suárez’s sale to Barcelona on Wednesday.

For some reason a narrative has taken hold that Sanchez doesn't want to join Liverpool even though sources suggest that is not the case - he hasn't stated it anywhere.

Di Marzio says Sanchez prefers Arsenal.

I guess it's the same type of delusion United fans had when we said Suarez was gonna leave Liverpool this summer.
