Alexis Sanchez | Signed for Arsenal

People keep using Valencia extending his contract as a sign we not going for him. We could get rid of Young and Nani.

Tbf we should get rid of Young and Nani whether we're in for a winger or not. Fighting for a position on the wings we currently have: Januzaj, Valencia, Welbeck, Mata, Kagawa, Young, Nani, hopefully Lingard and possibly Zaha. More than enough to be able to get shut of Nani and Young even if I like Nani as a player and Young as a person.

I can't see where he'd fit in. Even if we sell Nani and Young (I'd be surprised if Young went, unfortunately), that leaves Januzaj, Kagawa, Valencia, Zaha, Young, Lawrence and Welbeck likely competing for one spot. No room for him, really.

---------------- RVP ----------------
-?????--------Mata--------Rooney-
-------------------------------------

I'd rather just rotate Kagawa and Welbz.

If we had to sign only one more player and I was given the choice. I'd have him over Hummels etc. including the mighty Vidal. For today only.

Jeez. Where will he fit in?

RVP

Rooney-----Mata-----Sanchez

Herrera-----Carrick

Hernandez

Welbeck-----Kagawa-----Januzaj

Cleverley-----Fellaini

That's obviously where he'd play, I just don't see spending the money on him when we have three players more than capable of playing the position he'd be in. I rather save the money for a centreback or Vidal.

Why do caftards continue to fornulate these formations like they know LvG's tactics and it's their personal burden to squeeze everyone in? Secondly why the bollocks is Rooney on the wing in so many of them? He is fecking shite out there. He's getting dropped.

It's all speculation because that's all there is to do at this point.

Rooney's on the wing because 4-2-3-1 fits our squad the best and Mata is a better #10.

Unfortunately Mata is also better on the wing.

It won't happen, it's just posters trying force every player into the starting 11, someone will have to miss the odd game.

Totally agree. I keep posting about it - most posters ignore that we have quite few options on wings, some of them young Zaha/januzaj/Lawrance (if no loan) then we have to give play time to Welbeck/Kagawa.. Even if we totally leave out the likes of young/Nani.. We still have decent group of players. They are not world class but they can put a shift for the team. My guess is we won't go for Sanchez, instead we will make a big bid to sign Pogba and a top CB.

Because either way with or without Sanchez, Rooney is second best in AM and striker position to Mata and RvP. It's either on the wing or play him as RvP partner in 4-4-2.

This is regardless of Sanchez or not. Sanchez is more of direct competitor to Nani's, Young and Valencia's spot rather than Rooney. If we flock Young, who is also on stupid wage btw and bring in Sanchez we'll have 4 wingers or wide forwards, which is not that much, besides Valencia can play as full back (in 5-3-2 for example) since Rafael is half the time injured.
Also Sanchez can play up top which provides decent cover if we lose Hernandez or RvP or Rooney get injured. He's very versatile player.

Even if we don't get Vidal (I really hope we do), we can get in Strootman to play next to Herrera but if we lose Sanchez this summer, then its going to be doubly hard to get a good winger later.

It will be Suarez to Barcelona with Sanchez heading their way unfortunately.

What's the last player exchange at a high level, Cole for Gallas? I don't see that happening at all.

They do happen in the premier league. The last one that included two superstars was maybe Eto'o and Ibra? I might be missing someone. Reliable journalists are also saying it's a possibility. Usually it's the Mail or the Star that reports these type of deals.

You must admit that Liverpool are big club and if he goes to them that will be pretty good decision for him. They are in the CL, they have a young manager who made (in my opinion) average team play the best football in the league, they brought and will bring new players in and despite if they lose Suarez they could be even stronger next year. Now it is up to us to get back up there and challenge them (and City and Chelsea).

As much as i enjoy their decline i was very disapointed when they didn't challenge us for the title. It was much more fun when we were fighting against them or Arsenal for the title and i hoped that they come back. It is more fun if we fight against them then against City who just bought success.

And if they could bring Sanchez in they can really go again ;)

Robben just signed a contract. He is also 31 right? Just because he is Dutch doesn't mean he is moving. Di Maria had a great season at Madrid. Doubt they will want to move him. And Moura has had an underwhelming season and PSG are trying to build a Brazilian squad there. So doubt he is going to move this summer as well.

Absolutely agree was just pointing out that type of player if I was to choose I'd love Sanchez

i suppose nani could be sold if Van gaal dosnt rate him, but i don't get how we will of load young with out continuing to pay a huge chunk of his wages, which i can't see unit ever doing

From the very little I saw of the article, he's got a £40m release (not a buyout)clause.

Sanchezter United
By MIKE McGRATH

MANCHESTER UNITED want to sign Alexis Sanchez as they continue their mega summer spending spree.

The striker — who missed a penalty as Chile crashed out of the World Cup to Brazil — will be allowed to leave Barcelona if a club triggers his £40million release clause.

And United have joined the race as new boss Louis van Gaal begins his revolution.

The Old Trafford giants splashed out £62m on Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera this week but their overhaul shows no signs of slowing.

Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, 25, is also high on the Red Devils’ shortlist.

The Germany centre-back is first choice to replace Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.

Sanchez scored the equaliser but missed a spot-kick as Chile lost yesterday’s shootout 3-2.

He has emerged as a target after problems prising Arjen Robben from Bayern Munich but United will face stiff competition from rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

Sanchez, 25, has been a success at the Nou Camp but the Catalan giants are looking to spice up their front line with a huge bid for banned Reds hitman Luis Suarez.

Barca will still bring in a massive profit on the £20m they paid Udinese for Sanchez back in 2011.

United fans are still celebrating the £33m capture of Shaw from Southampton on Friday, the day after Herrera sealed his £28.8m switch from Athletic Bilbao.

The article from the Sun.

He is absolutely worth that much if not more. He is a cert to be a success, I can't see how people would even question that. He is made for this club, I'd be very surprised if we're not seriously in for him.

No. Sanchez would be completely unnecessary. He would make us marginally better, but the money would be better spent elsewhere. Anything he adds to the attack we'd lose in having no defensive support.
Our wide players contain Nani, Valencia and Young. He would be a colossal improvement on our options.
