I don't see the obsession with everyone dropping Ronney to accommodate Sanchez.

Carrick Herrera
Mata
Januzaj van Persie Rooney

And use the Sanchez money to replace Carrick

Carrick simply shouldn't be a first team starter. I love the guy, but he's just not mobile enough and that's been clear as day for the last two seasons. I still think we have a mental amount of money in the bank though, so getting Sanchez + Carrick replacement should be fine.

Where has this in form Carrick come from? He was rubbish all last season.

Personally I'm giving players who were terrible under Moyes but were fine under SAF a free pass for last year. I think we're being too quick to write Carrick off based on what happened under Moyes. He was excellent the year before, and we shouldn't judge him based on what happened under the leadership of that clown.

Not a direct contradiction to your post, as he obviously isn't in form, but I'm more than hopeful he'll be more of SAF Carrick than Moyes Carrick next season

Agreed. Carrick will be 33 when the season starts and his level really dropped last season. I'm going to be annoyed if we miss out on Sanchez twice!

Carrick should no longer be a starter. Keep him as a squad player until his contract runs out and let him leave on a free.

Rooney isn't very good out wide. He will continually come in field and leave Shaw exposed. He struggled for England out wide for the same reasons. Rooney should only be played as a 9 these days.

Why he's so much to offer. He's only 33 and he's never been someone who has relied on pace. The difference between him and Giggs is that he had to adapt to a new position because of injuries/age taking his pace away. But Carrick has never had pace so it's irrelevant. He's a great string-puller sitting deep in midfield, similar to what Scholes became later on.

What did he offer last season? He was a liability, he went back to old habits of never passing forwards not going past the half way line ect....we can't afford to to have him in the team. Pirlo still looks class because he has Vidal, Pogba and Marchisio doing all the running and dirty work for him we don't have that luxury.

Not exactly young? Considering the tempo of the league.

Carrick would have some more luxury than he has in the past few seasons in the sense that he'd now have Herrera, and not Fellaini or Fletcher to run around for him and do the dirty work. Ander is very gritty in his tackle.

If it's us Arsenal and Liverpool then i believe we will blow them away in the wages stakes

Arsenal us and Liverpool. We'd have every chance.

But firstly we don't 100% know we are in for him.

Let's hope so though, him on the wing/wide in a 4-3-3 would be outrageous.

Absolutely. Would love if we signed him. I don't necessarily think we'd be favourites, people can underestimate the lure of Arsenal & Liverpool, which are huge clubs etc, along with the fact they can offer Champions League football. Ok, we might only be out for one season, who knows? Also could depend on who Sanchez is friendly with who has played for each manager etc - if someone he knows is one of those who Van Gaal fell out with, that could have an affect too.

All pie in the sky rubbish I'm talking here, we don't even know if we're in for him!

@iBoss - Love the first line!

If we were in the Champions league we'd win this easy. But we'll see how persuasive Van Gaal really is to convince Sanchez to come to us despite no European football.

Van Gaal must've tapped him up after the Chile game

Except for Harry Kewell and i don't know Dirk Kuyt.. I dont know the last person to pick Liverpool over United? They are appealling clubs but we are involved they quickly lose their appeal. If Chelsea and City were interested they i'm sure we all would be as much as conceded.

I feel like Arsenal are pushing the most for this, a winger doesn't seem to be a priority for us at the moment so I can see him going there. Liverpool are spending big on Lallana and will probably get Shaqiri, can't see them also getting Sanchez. He'd be perfect for United though, and I might be biased but he suits us on the right flank more then any other club.

I think there may be some truth in us wanting Robben tbh. If Robben turns us down (which he will), then we'll no doubt turn our attention over to Sanchez. I get the feeling that ship would have sailed by then though.

Seems like Arsenal would be the best move for him. It's in London, he gets to play with a very generous 9 in Giroud and he'll have Ozil to ensure him lots of chances to score.

Sanchez---Giroud----Cazorla/Podolski/Walcott/OxC/Sir Stanley Matthews
-------------Ozil--------------
----Ramsey-----DM----------

looks pretty good to me.

Our interest in Shaqiri is apparently over.

He is great player and all that - I don't think we desperately need hime, unless we sell Kagawa/Wellbeck or right off Zaha as a flop. I will much rather spend our transfer budget on midfield and defence. We don't have world class talent for our wings but we have few decent options.

Yes it does, but what if he wants to actually win something?

Ideally I'd put Januzaj on the bench as he isn't ready probably to be first choice yet, put Sanchez on the right in his normal position then the left spot is up for grabs. Rooney and Mata can change between each other for that, and I could see it working really well.

Rooney - RVP - Sanchez
Mata
Herrera - Defensive mid

I can't see it, Van Gaal would be 100% focused on the World Cup.

But that doesn't mean Woodward hasn't been talking to his agent.
