Not really. Even when he was racking up the assists, his overall play was piss poor and he was invisible umtil the time he popped up with the assist.

His performances were close to last season's Rooney, stat padding while playing badly. That sort of performance is not sustainable and predictably, the assists dried up.
 
Miki hasn't been a total failure for me. He played well last season in the Europa and was a massive part of us winning a European trophy so I think that alone was worth it.

Domestic competition however yes he's been very underwhelming indeed. His only real moments I remember we're his goal against spurs and that crazy bicycle kick last year. He's been underwhelming but not a waste of money and certainly not a complete failure.

He's absolutely gash and hasn't got the mentality to make it at United. He was great in the Europa league because that's his level, mid-tier Europe shiteness.

Nothing wrong with being dropped if you're not performing, but to be totally removed from the squad and to have your character questioned(again)by the Manager when you probably need an arm round your shoulder(and you'd be surprised how many top players actually need that) was brutal from Mourinho.....

Anyway i'm going off topic.

1 interception?! How is that not more widely known and pilloried? Lukaku is fast too, so this looks more like laziness.

It should be more widely known that Lukaku has 1 interception? No one gives a feck about how many interceptions a striker makes.
 
The amount of vitriol spewed towards Mhki is astounding. Even if you don't think the move has worked out, there's no need for some of hate towards him.

I'm not particularly happy he never lived up to his previous season at Dortmund but I'm sure he isn't either.

Mino hasn't helped things by saying if Mhki doesn't go to Arsenal, Sanchez doesn't go to United. If this deal falls through, I can only imagine the abuse that will be thrown his way. Both on here and from the crowd if and when he plays again.

In accounting terms that how the transfer would work in the accounts and that’s why he has said it. The cost to City is the same as United in the financial results.

In fact Woodward reportedly told Mourinho that if he wants incomings there must be outgoings so who “won” that battle?

That's Mourinho's style I guess, he always tries to get a reaction from his players. Not saying I agree with it or I'd do the same, but it works with some players and fails with others. I don't think he's been "brutal" with him though, just a little lacking in tact. I don't believe Mourinho's intention was to humiliate him. I'm fairly sure that, had Sanchez not become available to us this window, Mkhitaryan would've come back into the side eventually.

As it turned out though, with him now being part of the Sanchez deal, his treatment seems harsher in hindsight. But I wouldn't really blame Mourinho for the toxic reactions towards Mkhitaryan, which are disgusting to be honest.
 
I think it will be done before next match as both players now would want to avoid playing/ staying at home for the deal to be completed. Seeing and feeling some vitrol towards Mkhi, i think Ot might even boo him if he plays and make mistakes. It would be better for both to be in new clubs for next match. Also if raiola is invoved, i expect him to be pushed through, he has many clients here and will use that as a sweetner to push it through. He also will make a commission only if Mkhi moves, no deal means no money for raiola and Raiola Loves money.
 
I would hope no fan booed Mkhi as a result of perceived lack of progress in apparent negotiations for a swap deal/transfer.

He's an extremely gifted player who I had high hopes for - my guess is that he'll fit better into a counter attacking team. He'll be good again and we'll wonder why we didn't get the best out of him.

Absolutely, this is our own player we're talking about, who, for whatever reason, hasn't been able to hit the heights he reached at other clubs. He deserves some common courtesy that some on here are not affording him.

There's talk now that this swap deal has been in the pipeline since the Summer, which suggests, nah i'd better not....
 
I've seen more comments on here complaining about the perceived vitriol towards Mkhi than actual vitriol.

Will be sad to see him go. Was very excited to watch him after his last Dortmund season and I have Armenian roots. But he's been very poor and inconsistent. I'm thankful for his contributions in Europa but when the opportunity arises to get a world class player like Sanchez you have to take it.

The defining feature of Klopp's system is the high press so it isn't surprising that Firmino is so highly placed. Mkhitaryan played a similar system at Dortmund. It would be interesting to see his stats at Dortmund compared to United, which might give us an indication as to how different tactical systems affect the results.

edit: just had a quick glance and there was a major drop off in Mkhitaryan's tackle and interception stats after joining United.
 
If it ended as a direct swap only it will be the best business Ed will ever do.

Replace a 29 years old flop with a 29 years old world class player without paying any fee. :wenger:
