Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

The reactions on here are a lot more restrained than what I've seen on other media. He'd be finished at this club if he causes the Sanchez deal to collapse I'm afraid.

The stick he's getting on other United forums is unreal. Redcafe and it's members are far more restrained as you say.

If this deal turns sour due to Mhki refusing to agree terms with Arsenal, I think he will regret it in the long run.

I understand his point of view though, no footballer in their right mind willing boards the sinking ship that is Arsenal FC.

Doubt it. If he puts his head down and works hard, Jose won't be vindictive. Latter only punishes underperforming players and has no personal grudges.

But seriously, don't you think we approached Sanchez only after consulting with Mkhi and Raiola? So this whole idea of "what if Mkhi turns Arsenal down" seems absurd as it is not likely we just randomly offer Mkhi without prior planning. All the talk is just hot air from Raiola.
I agree, Mkhitaryan is a convenience but the whole deal doesn't depend on him obviously.
About the rest, we're talking about a pussy who has fecked up all the chances he's been given when Mourinho was willing to give him chances. Worst case scenario, Sanchez doesn't come and Mkhitaryan stays, there is no way he'll be motivated to work hard. The "if" you used is a monumental, I can't see it happening.

This is what frustrates me about Mkhitaryan. He plays like an absolute wanker but he still expects to get a pay rise. No play better and than you can get a raise. If you play like this you should be happy if you don't need to take a pay cut.

If this was suggested 6 weeks ago, why is it taking this long if everyone involved wants to go ahead with it? Surely they'd have had time to iron out details by now. Transfers have fallen through due to players being stubborn before and here we're trying to force a player to move to a club he presumably doesn't want to go to. If someone tried to force you out of your job into one of a smaller company and take a pay cut, would you take it just because people night not be happy if you didn't?

I'm still not gonna think this is done until we see some actual hard evidence, like Sanchez on the motorway heading north. It's very possible he could just wait for 5 months and join someone else (or still us) in the summer. That seems like a shot in the foot for himself, but Arsenal have already lost out on a lot of sale money for him, and they probably don't like losing another good player to us so without them getting a player they want in return, so appears they're happy to be stubborn about this too.

Just for giggles. Would you trade Mata for Alexis?
Yes and no.
In a footballing sense, I would swap him, obviously. Sanchez is better/more effective!

But it's not wise to ship out all the senior members of the squad and he seems to be well-liked and is someone for the kids to look up to. I think he'd make a great coach and role model, like Ole. He is one of the most skilful at the club. Think he could bring a lot to the kids both skill wise and shaping them as young men. I think he could bring more to us than just on the pitch and for that reason, I am swayed to the no, I wouldn't swap him!

What would the reaction from United fans be if Mkhitaryan turns Arsenal down and the whole deal collapses. Would Mkhitaryan be reviled by large sections of the United support?

Not the match-going support. They'd be fine. I imagine anonymous internet transfer-obsessed Twitter crazies would lose their tiny minds, though. But what else is new.

 amazing

Man I would hope this isn’t the case. No reason to dislike someone who is, by all accounts, a very nice guy. Quite like Mkhi myself.
Of course this will happen the fans and the manager like the idea of having Alexis Sanchez instead of Mkhi or we wouldn't have proposed him in the swap to begin with.

If Mkhi f#cks that up by demanding more money despite not at all deserving it or staying when he isnt really wanted, fans will turn on him and quickly.

Don't imagine Mourinho would be impressed either, Mkhi could end up with the Schweinstiger treatment and neither Mkhi or Raoila want that.

Can't blame him. These are the moments he has the opportunities to negotiate for himself. And he's kinda being used here .

I don’t think the fans or manager are all that enamored with him right now. I meant moreso in the dressing room, if he became isolated or was frozen out.

Nobody is going to boo players from the stands because they didn't want to transfer away from the club. He'd be fine.

Don't think the crowd will, but it'll be open season on the Interweb, sadly

I would hope not but there's idiots in the crowd who booed Fellaini because they weren't happy with what he was doing on the pitch. How will those same goons react if they reckon Mhki cost us Sanchez along with his sub par performances?

Raiola would have assured him he would at least try. This is why players have him as an agent.

I dont think Mkhi is sitting there saying “I demand a payrise”.

He probably said yes to joining Arsenal days ago. Now he just leaves it to his agent to get him the best deal possible.

Arsenal under Wenger might have become a bit of a joke the last couple of years, but with change, I'm sure they could attract a top manager, top players and could have a good team in a couple of years. They should have the finance, but they could do with winning the Europa League, I think there are better teams in it than last year though so it may be tough.

If Mkhitaryan goes there, in a couple of seasons he could be playing i na very different Arsenal team

The abuse is mental for a player who has given all he can in the shirt, yeah he's been disappointing all things considered, but he's clearly a confidence player and he's got none, and when he's low in that department he can hardly control a ball. It's a shame, because he seems like a good bloke. A bunch of children on here spouting abuse and venom is so sad to see.

Arsenal's issue is they don't seem to want to spend the money and seem happy with CL football, we don't know and won't know till Wenger goes if he's been the one who has resisted spending money or if its truly the board holding the club back.

‘How dare he ask for a pay run’

Lol. Like you wouldn’t if a recruiter was like, I can get you £20k per week more here. What you think?

Erm. Yeah? Sure.

He wants a pay rise? Surely not.

Ending his United dream to go to a team where dreams die! Yeah I’d probably want more money too! The problem is the United dream is ending, the sun is shining brightly through the window, the alarm is banging and unfortunately there is a reality check here and he has to move and focus on positives. He could still shine at Arsenal, but what chance is there for silverware. Basically he just has to see it as a job!

If Mkhi continues his greedy stance (pay rise!??) do you think it's possible Jose could end up offering Martial instead as a last resort to do the deal?

I'm not so sure, if Mkhi purely refuses then they risk losing sanchez for nothing in the summer. They obviously want a good player like Mkhi instead for free which makes sense, but if not 30-35m in Cash will at least pursuade them a bit I feel. They are running out of options.

They want a replacement. They refused to sell him to 60m in summer because they failed to get a replacement. Now they see Mikhi as the replacement.

No, Martial is a no go area for everyone, we'll just pay money instead.

Not a chance, and Martial would never agree to it.

Also the fan backclash would be huge.
