At 30m this is a bargain. Buying a player of this level with more years on the contract would be 100m+. Really smart business to recruit a great player in a position we need (assuming he will play RW mostly) at that price and leaving us with more funds for our summer plans. Also, having an experienced and proven top level forward I think will help take the pressure of younger guys like Martial, Lukaku, Rashford etc. Scuppering City's move for him is nice too

No way; Rashford in his short time has shown guile, his form like any young player is up-and-down. This idea that he's simply a speed merchant and always will be is an insult to Mourinho and him. He needs time to develop and we'll\be better for it.

No, we wont play a fluid front 3 because we are much more stronger playing more traditional forward- who likes to bury the goal rather than "interchanging" and exciting the crowd only to send the ball into the stands. Sanchez will most likely play behind lukaku.
You mentioned crosses to Lukaku and hugging the touchline as something we should not do. That is one thing our team is missing, a winger who hugs the touchline and stretches the opponents and sends dangerous crosses in. That is one reason why Young has flourished so much recently. Sanchez is different style of player than line hugging winger, and would not provide those attributes but somebody in the squad should do that more regularly(maybe fullbacks).
I think Rashford and Martial need extra competition to make a step up. Surely, they have progressed a lot from last season, but having Sanchez will help them grow as well as provide more competition which is good for us. They both are very direct players and when we are missing Pogba in the games, we are lacking in creativity, which Sanchez will provide.
The incompetence of Arsenal is staggering. They could have sold him for big money last summer and reinvested that money on someone else who'd had have the time to settle in the club. Instead they're losing a top player in January while things are going wrong for them on the pitch.

I think that is why I like us getting Sanchez as he can play either LW, No. 10, or RW. He is strong and fast and can run/press a lot. He can also hold the ball which should free up Lukaku to score more goals.
If this happens, it'll mean that we won't go after Bale etc in the summer which will only mean money saved for us. Also Sanchez doesn't have a WC to go this summer, he can have a nice pre season rest.
Not convinced we'll be after griezmann any more, especially if we get sanchez. Dybala maybe but you could argue if we got Sanchez and ozil then we don't need another top attacker and at this point its very possible we will get both.

That's a fair point. Going after the likes of Bale/Dybala/Griezmann etc. is gonna cost upwards of 100m. Money that can be well spent on other areas of the squad.

Yup. I imagine the likes of Bale/Dybala etc wouldn't take any less wages than Sanchez so that's completely negated. The fees here is likely to around 30m ish which is 1/3rd of what it'll take to land Bale/Dybala/Griezmann. The only thing possibly we're paying extra is signing on fee but that's a very minimal difference.
They could easily lose ozil in the same way as well. Ramsey's contract runs out at the end of next season.
This. Using Rawkonomics the net spend for this transfer is actually -£50m considering we would have spunked £80m on Bale in the summer and he would have been injured until 2083 anyway. Well done Woody!

The only reason I can think of is if they sold last summer they had to spend much more due to fan's demand. Now it's only months away till the contract end and they ain'tdoing well, so recoup some money and get cheaper replacements (compare the money for quality player like Alexis and Ozil in normal circumstance) is better than losing them for nothing. Not very convincing reason but I think they can dupe part of the fan base.

There's a massive, massive difference between Balague and Di Marzio. Not even close.
Another thing he'll add to the side is that willingness to take the ball under pressure. Pogba is pretty much the only player we have at the moment that is confident with opposition in and around him.

I think it's not a big deal if the conditions are right. And rather than lose good players abroad, top teams should be a bit more open to doing business in the EPL, again, if the conditions are right.
Obviously I'm not the manager but I don't think playing a traditional forward system should be a long term strength if Lukaku is said forward. Imo our style of play has needed an overhaul for a while but the smart reason for sticking with it was it supposedly played to the strengths of Lukaku and also that we didn't have the quality of players to make it work.
Actually hadn't considered the possibility that we keep our current system and play Sanchez behind the striker. Felt bringing Martial closer to Sanchez and Lukaku in a front 3 would benefit our attacking play. A front three doesn't need positional interchanging by the way. Depends on the manager's styleAlso agree that we need width to stretch play but that should be the jobs of the fullbacks.
Another reason for an overhaul is that we don't have any pure wingers at the club so why continue to use a system that plugs square pegs in round holes.
Our current setup crams a ton of inefficiencies eg Martial/Rashford (wide forwards) playing as wide midfielders, Pogba (advanced playmaking midfielder playing as a deep playmaker), Lukaku (technically limited poacher being used as targetman). Signing Sanchez should represent an opportunity to fix it. Would be stubbornness not to at least explore other options

I agree, this will be a dream signing if it goes through. Sanchez is comfortably among the 5 or 6 players best players in the league, and we have beaten a main rival to his signature. Added to that, he's that talismanic attacking player we've been crying out for. If we'd signed him at the start of the season I honestly believe we'd be nipping at City's heals right now, a couple of points behind them at worst.
Di Marzio when he was wrong, his info still held some ground: a player can have many offer and you can't know for certain what the player think. Sometimes, they can just change their mind at last minute (Paul Gascoigne snubbed SAF for example). All info regarding the contact between all the parties, Di Marzio clearly has reliable source.
