Alexandre Pato

If he would actually be available for about £8m (performance based as well), you'd have to give it a whirl with the state of affairs we are in up front. Although, it could just end up a terrible panic buy. So torn. Muppet says yes, head says avoid.

What dreamland are we living in here?

You were probably in the same camp that thought we had no chance in RVP, Mata, Schweinsteiger.
I'm not saying we will get him but I'm sure we have a chance since it's well documented he supports United and I'm sure there's a buy out clause.

Around £60m apparently. That does makes him very gettable, if he wants the move.

Cant see him leaving Athletico in the winter though... possibly in the summer if simeone goes and we chuck stupidly high wages at him (presuming we have CL football as well)
Though I imagine PSG and City could well be in a position to offer similar sums of money as well (though arguably neither needs him as much as we do)

No, I wasn't to be honest...

My comment isn't related to Griezmann coming to us...but him coming to us in Jan. I don't see it as remotely possible to be honest.

I'm not sure I put too much on the 'so and so supports xyz' either to be fair mate. Smalling was an arsenal fan, Shaw a Chelsea fan. Hell it was reported for years Di Maria was a United fan.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong of course...but I can't see him here in Jan.

That's before we get to him actually wanting to come to England, if he does to us, or LVG being interested in him.

Stoke would do well to get him on their books. A Pato, Bojan and Shaqiri front line would put smiles on many fans' faces.

Put them behind Arnautovic as the central striker just for extra shits and giggles, always been a fan and he's been good this year.

Get them all rotating positions and Stoke are suddenly amazing.

But... but... but what about Walters?

Yeah I agree January would be an obvious no go. But in the summer we could be in with a shout. He's been very consistent and I truly believe he could have his pick on any club

Chelsea are winning the battle with Liverpool for the Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato. According to ESPN Brasil’s journalist Mauro Cézar Pereira, the London club are very close to reach a deal with Corinthians.

Corinthians have been desperate to sell Pato, and it’s not because of his form. After signing him from Milan in January 2013 for £10.50m, the player had a poor year at the club and was loaned on a two-year deal to their rivals São Paulo.

Pato had a pretty decent loan spell at São Paulo, where he scored 26 goals in 2015. As the Corinthians fans won’t give him a warm reception after coming back from their rivals, the board is looking for any good offer to get rid of him. They have turned down offers from China and USA because Pato prefers going to Europe, especially the Premier League, as reported by The Independent.

After leaving São Paulo, Pato’s first stop during his vacations was at Stamford Bridge, where he watched a Champions League game in December.

Mauro Cézar is a football pundit and not a reporter, so he generally doesn’t use his blog for gossip matters. That’s what makes this kind of post more reliable. According to him, Pato’s wages at Chelsea will be about £33k a week, and the Chinese club’s offer was £142k. That’s how much Pato wants to be in the Premier League.

If this is right...33k a week? That has got to be worth a gamble.

Unlikely to any truth in this like always.

Just like the rumours that United had a bid for him accepted in the Summer, or that he was just about to join Pool just last week (which Klopp rubbished).

He and his agent are trying damn hard to sell him to England.

He'll probably end up at a Europa league club (no, not us) or a Stoke.

The one thing I've realized through the last two windows is that the Brazillian media are as close to being the most unreliable on the planet . Remember some Brazillian Espn journalist claiming Firmino had completed his medical with us.

Oh for sure I get that the is probably some bullshit.

But what im wondering is, if he is truly available for cheap in terms of wages and price - why wouldn't we look into it?

What usually happens is, he goes to a Stoke or something for a cheap price and has a good season. A year later everyone is happy to be linked with him for 25m.

Pato to Chelsea?

I'll let this gif speak for me...

Pato and Falcao, dream partnership in 2012

For less than 10m he is a bargain. However, I haven't seen him play in Sao Paulo this season. Does anyone know if he recovered his level?

He can play champions league, total hail mary addition by a club whose domestic league season was finished in recent weeks.

Its not like they cant afford him, and puts the player in the shop window

His agent has been pushing for a move back to Europe over the last several months, I wouldn't bite on the rumours nor would I have much confidence in him having much to offer as Corinthians have been desperate to offload him & his wages.

Plus, let's face it, he has a long history of being injury prone even if he's still only 26

Beware Chelsea, some portuguese sites are reporting we are also interested in Pato. You stand no chance

ESPN ,Times and Mail seem to think this loan deal is getting close.

This is the one signing I DON'T want United to make - another Falcao. Saying that, it seems like the sort of panic buy Woody might make as the end of the window approaches, just for the sake of signing someone

At this moment in time we need a striker desperately. It's shocking we actually have no striker on the bench when we are terrible. We haven't got much to lose with a loan deal and I think Pato seems really motivated now.

Nothing there has changed since the start of the transfer window so if we didnt make a move then I cant see us making a move now.
I agree that Pato is not a bad option but I cant see us getting anybody... though I can see LVG blaming injuries and bad luck when martial / roonet gets injured / suspended in feb and we find ourselves recalling wilson / playing januzaj up front

I agree, I don't think we will bring anyone in. I just find it bizarre that Van Gaal hasn't even tried to get a striker in considering he cannot buy a goal these days. Christ, Charlie bloody Austin for £4m would of been worth the punt. But then again pretty much everything Van Gaal does is strange.

There's so much complain about players not being good enough and stuff, then you want us to take a "punt" on another bang average one, because he scored a header against us, really? Realistically, who is the striker you would have liked Van Gaal to try to sign in this January?

Well it wasn't just because he scored against us, He scored consistently last season to and is certainly a decent squad player to have for £4million, It gives you a different option style wise. If I was Van Gaal who would I get? Good question as there isn't an awful lot out there at this time of year (hence the Austin statement), but Pato would certainly of been an option for me.
