I don't think some of these transfer Muppets have seen Lacazette play, still butthurt over Griezmann. genuinely think he would surprise alot of people

Agreed

If you have ever watched the guy play he is anything but mediocre if you ask me, has lead the line for 3 years, technically very good and a terrific finisher, would take him over lukaku and Belotti all day.

Yep, Lacazette is in his prime and has all the qualities to lead a top 4 team and being quick will help him in the premier league.

A lot of his goals last season were penalties.

Do not want.

Fun fact:

Lacazette has 56 goals the past three seasons in Ligue 1 excluding penalties. Excluding penalties, this gives him a conversion rate of 22,5 % (25 % this year). To compare, Harry Kane, excluding penalties, has a conversion rate of 17,83 % the last three years in the PL. And he has been extraordinary. Some might point to Ligue 1 being poor, but even Zlatan did not manage to have a better conversion rate in Ligue 1. During his three last years in Ligue 1 he had a conversion rate (ex pen) of 20,13 %.

I would argue that his conversion rate is insane. I would also argue that we could need a good finisher.

Interesting stat. You could say that's precisely what we're after.

Interesting, I'm intrigued now.

It's funny how Lacazette was the muppet signing on here for a few years, and now that he's in his prime and entirely gettable (and for a reasonable fee compared to what's being thrown around re: Lukaku and Kane) interest has cooled mightily. I'd still take him. He's quick, technical, and has a good nose for the goal. With such lackadaisical finishing on our part last year, you can't really say no to a player with those qualities.

Doesn't seem like a Mourinho type striker, which is a good thing in my opinion. Until he spends 4 months in the doghouse for not being a Mourinho type striker that is...

Does anyone here watch him? How good is he?

I remember a couple of years ago there was talk about him being the next great French striker. But as far as I can tell, he's fallen a little below expectation?

Then again, I'm only really thinking that because he's still at Lyon and isn't getting linked with Real Madrid every week any more. Hence my asking

Going over this thread, it looks like there have been no real links between us and Lacazette, but an flurry of post activity have convinced us otherwise

That's my problem with him particularly since he has a bit of a temper and will complain.

No, he hasn't fallen below expectations. Like Umtiti, he needs to leave Lyon.

Is he any better than Rashford or Martial? I'd rather spend the 50 mil elsewhere if not.
He's much better than Rashford, and more proven (and probably better too) than Martial in my eyes.

Martial has never been better than Lacazette, not even a second. Martial is a great potential and only a great potential.

This has blown up, have we been linked?

I'm up for this transfer because
A) it will piss off Atletico
B) it will piss off Griezmann
C) he's actually a better finisher than Griezmann
D) Atletico have revealed his reasonable non-United tax price
E) his club had already agreed to sell
F) he his great technique and silky link up play
G) it would encourage a better style of play
H) he's proven to score a lot of goals every season

Still fancy Mbappe, mind.

He's been fine and kicked on nicely since the over hype a couple years ago. I think like you said the fact he still is at Lyon and the French coach hasn't picked him much is the reason why the hype has died. Not trying to be cliche but wouldn't mind taking a chance with him, has that Saha feel.

Interesting. I remember Umtiti didn't leave the impression of a WC CB wherever i saw him at lyon, just a good, young CB. At barcelona and for France at the euros he's been a revelation

Lacazette has never gave me the impression of being anything other than a very good player. You reckon the problem is Lyon?

I watched the Lyon semi final against Ajax and he was on the bench why is that? Also he can't get in the French squad ahead of Giroud which is concerning as feck.

I've not seen much of him lately but he's got a decent goal record at least.

Injured. He's had quite a few injuries the last two seasons iirc

He was injured and they had to bring him on to change the course of the game and if i remember correctly he got a goal.

Yes, supposedly a good source too.
To be honest, this summer L'Equipe have been chatting utter rubbish, wouldn't consider them a good source for this particular window so far.

Well, being a very good player is a pretty good thing, it has always been the expectation. Being world class is an other story* and I wouldn't say that Umtiti is world class. The problem for Lacazette or Umtiti is that because they are not playing for a solid CL team, they are not rated or respected like they should. The club you play for dictates the perception that people have about you as a player, you just have to look at what people were saying about Umtiti.

*To me world class players are for the most part very good players with incredible consistency.

This is getting annoying.

Both scored feck all last season, how could anyone even contemplate solving our lack of goals by banking on them?

You recall incorrectly. He's only missed 15 games in the last 3 seasons due to injury.

If you want someone who has missed quite a few games in the last two season look no further Gareth Bale

I just think it's funny that we've spent hundreds of milions post-SAF on top talent trying to play catchup to the the other top sides and now we're back in the Champions League we go back to signing mediocre shitc*nts.

Well said
