Urgh are we suddenly Liverpool/Arsenal?

Perisic, Lacazette, Keane words cannot describe how underwhelming this summer would be if those were our buys

You might be underwhelmed but I think they would greatly improve your squad.

They would improve our team. Loads of our supporters seem to be in dreamland now a days. We have not had the best results since SAF retired. Now we need to build a good base, prove we can compete for the league and build from there. I fully trust Mourinho to deliver the goods. It's not about names. It's about character, balance in the squad and mentality.

Funny how Atletico (team that qualifies for CL semi finals regularly and made finals twice in last 3-4 years) think Lacazette is good enough for them but the team that finished 6th in the league, didn't even qualify from group stages of CL think he isn't good enough for them.

People only care about names. Lacazette is a very good player.

I think so. It's either Woodward only care about galactico signing or signings are underwhelming.

I am not sure what people have against Lacazette. He scores goals.

Squawka says Lacazette's chance conversion rate last season was 39 per cent, which seems unreal (link). Considering how many clear cut chances we wasted last season, if we had Lacazette performing at a similar level for us our season might've been massively different.

My main question about him in the Mourinho system is his hold up play. Lacazette is not the biggest, and Mourinho has preferred mobile target men up top throughout his career. That is not his game. He knows where the goal is though.

I'm not half as interested in which striker we get as to who we bring in to be the long term replacement for Carrick.

If you get the likes of Pogba freed up a bit from defensive responsibility, and Micky improves on his second season, someone like Lacazette would be the ideal person to be on the end of the chances those two will create.

Still like his name - sign him!

I would prefer him to Lukaku (also a great name, but too expensive)

His link up play is definitely better than Rashfords right now, but the team would have to adjust to playing it down the channels more than just pumping it upfront.

I would love to see this happen. Too many times we have seen so called "not world class players" gone to teams such as Spurs, and then see people moan on how United didn't act first. I remember seeing/hearing quotes saying SAF was scouting Son at Leverkusen before he moved to Spurs.

Imagine if it was Laca at the end of Pogba's defence splitting passes, instead of Rashford. Yes, Rashford he has the potential, but as last season has shown, he is still inconsistent. With Laca's finishing ability, I would hope at least half of the chances missed last season to be converted, half of the drawn games could potentially turns to 3 points. Plus, it would take the pressure off Rashford's shoulders, considering Ibra may or may not be ready for the start of the new season.

Perhaps, Maureen's recent comment about how he would have not sold Chica has got something to do with finding that similar type of strikers. Martial has potential to play there, but few times he was given the chance to play there, his movement is almost non-existence. He always wait for the ball to come to him, unlike Chica.

Averages around 30 goals/season in the last 4 years, he's clearly a very good striker.

Considering his goal-scoring record, how come he doesn't really get a look in for the NT? 113 in 183 games in the last 4 years. 10 caps for France. Apparently hasn't been in the squad since October 2015.

Anyone else just won't compare to who we were planning to get
I think if we can bring in Laca, everyone will be pleasantly surprised. Very good link up play and his shooting technique is up there with the best. Very good first touch and overall one of the best technical strikers in the game. Will close down from the front as well.

Good question. I dont know the reason but they do seem fairly well stocked upfront

Always been a case that Deschamps was happy with Giroud + Gignac as the lead striker. Griezmann/Valbuena usually played the 10, or they played a 3 man midfield with Pogba/Matuidi + DM.

Yeh he's alright

Don't think we are in from him at all. Think it's the typical media shite spewing.

You sure about that ?

You'd have to have been living under a rock not to have heard of this guy over the last 3 years, but I've genuinely never seen him play. But (and I know YouTube videos aren't a good way to judge a player) he looks likea wonderful player in that clip. When you combine that with his goalscoring record, how come he didn't get picked over Giroud and Gignac for the Euros? I can see Benzema being preferred to him but he's surely better than the other two? Is this a case of France finding a better fit for their best player (Griezmann)?

A lot of his goals last season were penalties.

Do not want.

Actually he wouldn't be a bad signing

Well, Deschamps is the manager.

You make such a Compelling case...

Oh white text lol. That post did fit a lot of the guff people are saying on here these days

I just think it's funny that we've spent hundreds of milions post-SAF on top talent trying to play catchup to the the other top sides and now we're back in the Champions League we go back to signing mediocre shitc**ts.

Can't we hijack him under AM's nose?
Between him, Lukaku and Belottti, I think he's the best and the cheapest option.

If we only consider Giroud, he has an excellent record for France, he is generally good and has a great attitude. And he was in the team before the others

Sounds like he could be the new Andy Cole.

Ludicrous that lacazette is being a called that, clearly a top quality striker.

I don't think some of these transfer Muppets have seen Lacazette play, still butthurt over Griezmann. genuinely think he would surprise alot of people

This! Lacazette is a terrific player with more all round game than Likely and Belloti combined.

Agreed

If you have ever watched the guy play he is anything but mediocre if you ask me, has lead the line for 3 years, technically very good and a terrific finisher, would take him over lukaku and Belotti all day.
