Alexandre Lacazette

Bilel Ghazi: Manchester United now lead the race for Alexandre Lacazette ahead of Arsenal & Dortmund. No approach from Liverpool.

This is a great plan B. He will come for a reasonable fee (at least I'm hoping, given the figures thrown around when he was linked with Atletico), and I think he will be a really good player right off the bat in the Premier League. I'm really excited if the deal goes through.

With my conspiracy hat on - Atleti wanted to sign Lacazette, but now cant due to the ban. We've agreed to buy him, and swap him next summer for Greizmann:angel:

But really, in a way, Lacazette actually fits into our system better than G, though he's not as good as him. I have a feeling whereever Lacazette ends up, people will be asking why they didnt sign him before, a bit like Aubameyang, or even Greizmann when he was at Sociedad.

Think he is fine. Wouldnt complain if we got him..
We need 2 forwards.. We have the money. We'll sign 2 forwards.. I'm excited.

Shame Griezmann wont be one of them.. but thats hardly the end of the world.

Surprising, if true. He really doesn't strike me as the type of striker Mourinho would line-up with.

He is no Griezmann but this lad would get my inner muppett nore excited than Lukaku.

Tho idk enough about Bellotti....

He is the best all-round striker available on the market imo, only thing he lacks is height, which for Mourinho could be a big minus.

Ha! That was my first thought as well.

Lacazette would be a welcome addition but I feel we'll be making a big mistake letting Lukaku join one of our rivals.

I've only watched him in the Europa League this season, but I was quite impressed. I just hope that if we get him, he wasn't Mou's 4th or 5th choice.

It seems we have swiftly moved down the pyramid and now chasing inferior quality players.

His highlights weren't that impressive, but I think he was over Lyon last year. I know it won't be our only forward, but I would be very grateful for his services.

He'd be a great signing, especially if we're anticipating Ibra will be back for the 2nd half.

Scored 37 goals in all comps and 28 in the league alone (a goal every 86 minutes).

We should be forgetting about Ibra, he'll be 36 on a fecked up wheel, lets move forwards not cling to the past. If Lacazette comes we should look at a two striker system that allows him to play with Rashford or Martial, none of them are very good up top alone but could thrive in a partnership.

On the contrary, he looks to be well ahead of schedule and I expect him back well before most predictions.

Ahh yes, the next french player to do the whole, will he, wont he.

Ya gotta love these summers of wonder.

Because he was kicking a ball in his garden? Despite all his bullshit bravado he's made of the same things as normal humans, that injury cannot be rushed, especially at his age, and regardless we should not be considering a player of his age in our plans, this team needs to move forward and stop looking back for crutches, he needs the entire team to be catered to him, I'd rather we built an attacking unit that works as group rather than rely on a 36 year old who needs to go to the MLS.

if we are about to spend ~45m pounds on perisic, then we should have no qualms about lacazette or lukaku's price.

If we are briefing the press with lies about why we moved off griezmann, then at least look for a no.9 like lacazette or lukaku

His point is still valid. He'll be 36 coming off a major knee injury. There's no way you should plan your team accounting for his presence because there's absolutely no way you can be certain he returns anywhere near the same player. Most guys coming off that injury in any sport never look the same the first year they return.

Manchester United have abandoned attempts to buy France striker Antoine Griezmann this summer in order to prioritise the signing of a target man in the wake of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s cruciate knee ligament injury.

I'd hate to treat journalists words as gospel but reports by Ducker said that the reason we 'ditched' Griezmann was because we're after a Target man. He's supposedly well-informed so I don't think we're going to be after Lacazette.

It's not so valid given that we are also buying other attackers - whether Lacazette, Griezmann or maybe another option. So we wouldn't be solely relying on Ibra but would still have the luxury of using him as our main striker if he returns to top form.

He's a great goalscorer and all this outdated garbage about a target man to hold the ball up needs to die. We need to build a fluid attack with an interchanging front 3 and midfield runners arriving in the box. Holding the ball up is only required because of the negative bus parking tactics Jose seems stuck on to grind out results.
Lacazette is the man we need with added defensive solidity from a Fabinho and the rest of the poor performers to step up and finish off their chances.

that was a club briefing, it's a lie to cover for the transfer ban. However Di Marzio said a few days back that we are after a no.9, so lacazette better be a contender.

Even if he wasn't kicking the ball in his garden, he was always said to be playing again by the start of next year. If he's in as good a shape as mentioned everywhere, I expect that to happen much faster. Don't be surprised if he is back in full action by November/December. The age thing is obviously BS since he disproved that this past year so stop using it.

i'm in for laca. certainly more excited about this than say lukaku or belotti.

He was part of the reason we were so crap in attack, our entire system was geared to playing to a big striker who barely moves and plays for himself, it's why we are so easy to park the bus against, we need to improve the sum of the parts as a unit, not hang around for a 36 year old coming off a serious injury, it's stupid and backwards.

Ibra isn't going anywhere. You're just going to have to deal with it.

Yeah, I'll deal with another 6th place finish so we can stroke his ego, good stuff. Waiting around for a 36 year old has bveen is stupid, even for a club that has allowed Rooney to waste away bleeding us dry for the last 4 years.

Sounds like a personal problem. Oh and btw, you're in the Lacazette thread so move on.

You sure about that ?

I just watched this video, not bad but so odd that you posted it given it should surely be clear to you that his game is based on having lots of quick movement to link with, yet you are happy for us to pay £57M for a player and then basically ask him to play with a barely mobile partner, it's ludicrous, he could work fine with Martial and Rashford, maybe we could add another dynamic attacker as well and really put together a quick, dynamic unit to unsettle teams.
