Buttner vs Sterling could be interesting.

I know many people wouldn't agree with me, but I would like to see Buttner against Sterling/Liverpool.

I agree CB. Buttner should play against Pool. Heck Evra might have experience but going off recent form and Sterling's speed, I'd play Buttner.

Not it was not. But nice try trying to judge the tone through text! We hardly get it right.

Not sure he trusts Nani. He most definitely should start, but it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't.

Buttner won't play against Liverpool, though, and probably correctly. We need experience, and perhaps the knock and Buttner taking his chance against Wigan will give Pat a boot up the arse.

Nani will step up his game against Liverpool.
Sterling will run riot with slower Pat, nothing wrong to play Buttner

Buttner wasn't tested too much by Wigan. I would take the experienced Evra to the Liverpool match.

Only way Buttner starts is if Evra is still injured.

Just watching this and it seems his penalty taking is excellent.

Check out 1:30, and 1:42

Also considering Van Persie and Hernandez can't take a penalty to save their lives
that's how sarcasm works

It will be interesting to see how he does against Liverpool to see if Buttner doesn't melt under pressure

I would be surprised if he plays against Liverpool. I agree it would be a good test for a man in form, but i suspect SAF will stick with Evra.

To leave Evra out for a second PL game in succession, especially one of that importance, would probably be viewed as Evra being dropped rather than rested.

SAF has made his point to Evra, surely he will give him a chance to see how he responds. Could be just what Evra needed a good kick up the arse. If he doesn't improve then he knows Buttner is right there waiting in the wings.

Sterling isn't THAT fast, and Evra hasn't lost THAT much pace - I think he will be fine against someone like Sterling. Do you guys even think that Büttner looked that fast?

I would go with Evra for the next one - hopefully it will do him some good to get some rest finally.

People have said that Evra might have a problem with Sterling because the latter is the type of player Evra struggles with. Lennon for example has tore into Evra on so many occassions.

Sterling plays on the left. He wont be up against our LB whoever it may be.

Buttner had 7 turnovers in a single game, according to f365 the worst of any player in the league.

No wonder SAF said he was a bit rash.

It's not really the opponent, it's Evra. He is just far too laid back when defending, he needs to get closer to his man and be far more aggressive and put more pressure on them when receiving the ball.

He struggles because he makes it far too easy for players to get into positions where they can cause him problems. Anyone can be beaten by a tricky winger of course, but the way to limit their opportunities is by getting tight and preventing them from turning and running at him. He just doesn't do that often enough, and is exposed regularly by the likes of Lennon as a result.

Tbf, most people are skinned time and time again with Lennon because his acceleration and agility are out of this world. When Evra was at his absolute peak, I can only think of Lennon who was able to do that to him. He had Robben whipped for pace on a couple of occasions and generally had him in his pocket most matches.

Now it's a different matter altogether, but Fergie admitted that Evra was, as I thought he was, playing with several minor injuries, which might testify to why he ran like an 80 year old at times.

Hopefully, this year we'll see Büttner providing some rest for Evra at times - Evra has played an incredible 250 games over 5 years!!!

Evra was horrible against Liverpool last season. Basically cost us the FA Cup game.

He let the hostility get to his head. I wouldn't be suprised Buttner plays against them.

Evra was rested against Wigan, he did start all the matches for United and France so far this season.SAF is taking his age into consideration this season and will give him more opportunities to rest but in the big games (for instance against Liverpool), I expect him to start if he's fit

Same here. Baxter had a really good game (1 game), more he currently might be in a better form than Evra but its obvious that Fergie will opt for experience for the Liverpool game.

Buttner.

A turnover is a thing I used to buy in the bakery before school, not whatever the hell this Baxter fella did seven times against Wigan.

He's on the injured list - I don't think that counts as being "rested".

Has absolutely nothing to do with being rash. Its a lot but its due to him being so involved all game.

Which makes it amazing that his overall game rating was one of the top half dozen by any player in the league this season (and the highest by a defensive player by a wide margin).
