Alex Sandro

Muppet mode on - Who'll be our first signing ?

- Alderweireld
- Alex Sandro
- Bonucci
- Willian
- Sergej Milinković Savić
- Jorginho
- Fred
- Absolutely nobody

Apparently Sandro is similar to Roberto Carlos, but no,lets keep the faith with Luke Shaw FC....

That's the spirit. Eventually he'll give us a good game

I'd say we should bring some competition to the hype train. Since Mou seem obsessed by Brazilians then lets bring the Brazilian Luke Shaw ie Fabio Da Silva back

- Alderweireld
- Alex Sandro
- Mahrez
- Sergej Milinković Savić
- Maybe a right back. No idea who, mind.

Danny rose. :nono:

It's still better to try and fail than play wingers who suck at attacking as wingbacks.
That's the thing, as converted wingers you'd sort of expect Young and Valencia to be good in attack and poor in defence. What they have shown is exactly the opposite. Both are competent in defence and mostly poor in attack, especially Valencia.

I will say between Sandro or Fred. I can see Alderweireld take some time to get done as is Levy we are dealing with

In terms of our needs, I want to say this could be our best transfer of the season .

My choice in bold. Absolutely Nobody could single-handedly add the twenty plus points separating us from City and also guarantee a CL win to moot.

hehe

At least you don't have to worry about his value going up at the WC.

La Stampa are saying it's close with Darmian heading the other way in a separate deal.

Fabio hasn’t disappointed as much as Shaw has to be fair.

Both are well into their 30s to be fair and had very good seasons. The fact they can’t charge up and down anymore is more to do with father time than their lack of ability.

Fabio was way cheaper. Both were ridiculously hyped by the fans despite barely ever show anything positive on the pitch.

did he not start one of the CL finals v Barca, sure he had been superb for about 3 months before it looked the real deal then just seemed to go to rubbish. seems a common thing with young players here

He kept getting loads of injuries which derailed his career. Rafael then stepped up and took his RB place permanently, so Fabio was stuck being 2nd choice behind Evra.

Its common with many many youngsters at other clubs as well. Young players are unpredictable. They are expected to grow quickly in terms of quality and maturity in a very short time frame at an age were people prefer going to the pub and meet friends rather then train hard. Other things effect them including physical changes (Mctominay wouldn't be were he is now if he hasn't grown 6ft3 in few months) and injuries (we lost the best talent of class of 92 because of injury).

What I find exclusive with United is how easily hyped kids are and how loyal we tend to be with players who simply don't put their weight in improving themselves. I lost count of how many arguments I had with people protecting the likes of Ando because he's fun. FFS that's stupid. Same with Shaw, Fabio and many many others who could do better but simply didn't mainly because of lack of commitment. Despite everything they still get applauded by United fans.

I mean Fabio was never ever our first choice RB. He played the last few games of the 10/11 season including the CL final, that was mostly because Rafael had gotten injured in April and Fabio stepped in.

One of the biggest reasons for our downfall alongside overhyping average players.
Also a part of our fanbase acts like we are Southampton and our sole reason for existing as a club is to be giving youngsters playtime even though they are not good enough.

I fully agree. It seem to me that we just love the extremes ie either the naughty ones who seem to get away with everything or the average talent whose all workrate and nothing else. The former I tend to find them tragic as they should put the effort in actually become top players. The latter, well, I appreciate effort as much as the next guy but effort alone won't get you far with a club like United and I often find it very silly how people go on hyping the squad players as if they were crucial to our success because seriously they weren't. We didn't win trophies because of Fortune, Phil Nev or OShea. We won them because we had some absolutely unique talent like Scholes, Keane, Giggs, Ronaldo, Rio and Stam.

I remember once at MUTV were Paddy clearly called Fortune a legend on life TV. Fortune whose not our youth and knows exactly what a legend at a top club like ours would be was clearly embarrassed by it.This mentality hurts us big time as it persuade young players to think that there's no need to improvement once they started getting games with the first team. What's the point of putting for a talented player to become a Scholes or ruining his knees to become a Keane when he can easily enjoy his life and be a squad player like some OShea?

Young had a good season. I think it's stretch to say Valencia had a good one. Yes he was good defensively, but when you consider the amount of space he was afforded down the right in most games, the fact that he wasn't more productive going forward is a bit of an indictment on him.

Valencia can charge down the line alright still, he just doesn’t know what the hell to do when he gets to the oppositions box beyond his standard overdone routine that everyone and his dog knows at this point.

Hopefully the board sees what Pep did last year and warrants such spending.

Pep on MNF said they don't need to spent 300m every season but they DID need to do it last year (for an overhaul). He said he spent it in 1 season as opposed to 3. It makes sense, especially if there are young players brought in too. Alot of those player address our biggest weaknesses. Instantly making us better from the first game of the season.

Who we absolutely need

- Alderweireld
- Alex Sandro
- Fred
- Meunier

Apart from them I'd certainly hope to see someone like Griezmann or Dybala in as well.

We'll probably sign Sandro first according to reports that is.

Agreed, two top class full backs is essential if we are going to compete at the highest level again.

I'd be surprised if PSG sold Meunier this summer.

Wasn't he a bit unhappy sitting on the bench for many games this season? He almost got sold to Chelsea last transfer window.

I'm sure he'd like more game time, but Alves is 35 now, he's surely going to have opportunities ahead.

Bullshit fake news:lol: Yeah whatever. La stampa is reliable for Juventus, Sandro is going to be player soon than later.
Even if he's "not on the verge of signing".

You're not getting this at all mate. SportWitness are not saying that La Stampa are a bad source they're saying that they never reported that Sandro was close to joining. SportsWitness are not a source for transfer news, they've never claimed to be. All they do is go through transfer news and tell people if these sources are reliable or if they even reported on what's being claimed on twitter.

Thank you Tom. Glad some people have reading comprehension skills

It would be a great window if we got those players! ❤

yeah of course, but he definitely needs 100% game time now. He's 26 and pretty much at his physical peak. Would be happy if we got him, the lad is quality.

Definitely. It's not entirely unrealistic either, considering we'll ship out 5-6 players too, to recoup some funds.
