Alejandro Garnacho (out) | Chelsea make enquiries

More likely he’s the new Welbeck and scores every time he faces us.

I can’t let go of the thought this wingbacks system is not the way United should play. It’s going to take 2-3 years of tough sledding to get a functioning Amorim team, and will we even like what we see then? We won under LVG and everyone hated the football style. Somehow this Amorim system has to be the be-all end-all, or we sack him and rebuild yet again — and Garnacho will still be only 24 when it happens!
I’m less focused on the system honestly or how Garnacho does or doesn’t fit, and more so just approaching it as “we have to sell someone, and might be selling a young player who isn’t all that good yet at his peak value”. Maybe he turns into a world beater, or maybe we buy like crap with the new funds. Both would suck.

Or maybe he turns out to just be a middle attacker that we capitalize on in the market and buy some great young players that thrust us forward

I think he’s got a great mentality. He won’t get in his head after missed chances ala Rashford. He goes again and again and doesn’t give up. I think he’s decent technically without being outstanding. His pace obviously and he’s shown some lovely finishing in his time, although that appears to have been lacking recently.

I also think he has big weaknesses. Hes not very skilful, very much kick and run. He can be a bit weak and his decision making is poor. I just think those things can be worked on.
Finally at least someone appraises Garnacho reasonably. I have a different end opinion but everything here is pretty valid I think in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

Maybe it’s all true that everyone is for sale and Chelsea are actually testing the waters. Strange move if we want to sell.

Amorim might see things different as well. Garnacho might find form and adjust to the new system.

I can see him stay at this point. Somewhat embarrassing if we sell a starting player. Let’s say he scores a couple of goals tonight. What then?
Then his price tag goes up 10m per goal

I appreciate the response but if we are going to look at that a little brutally, the first thing you list is that he takes loads of shots even when he misses.

He does have self confidence which is good but I think it's becoming clear that this supercedes his ability as a footballer.

Also just as a side note, I don't agree that he's particularly fast, not for a winger. I think if he had exceptional pace it might mask a lot of his deficiencies.

If it were reversed Chelsea would demand some stupid fee way above his value. We got fleeced for a clown like Mount ffs. Whatever our asking price is we should add 20% if Chelsea want him

Selling him to a PL rival would be madness. He's still got huge potential.

It wasn’t just about shots. It’s his willingness to run at his man again and again without getting disheartened. The full-back knows they’re in for a constant battle at the very least. I call it his goldfish brain

I’m aware he’ll never be the smartest player going, I just think there’s a really useful asset there when he matures.

We need fewer players who’s goal is self-glory and shooting at every chance.

INEOS control the football side and it is they who are thinking of selling Garnacho. Only we could have gone and found worse owners than the Glazers.

INEOS aren’t doing a great job but they are trying to clear up as mess the Glazers created. This is why the Glazers wanted INEOS in, all the blame is moving away from them. They are the leeches that have crippled this club.

Lots of current mess INEOS created. First it was complete clusterfeck with decision over Ten Hag because of which our season is fecked, then Ashworth decision and then (which goes under the radar) spending 200 mil this summer knowing that we have PSR/FFP issues.

They made a bet thinking we'd get ucl football.

They miscalculated and are now shitting themselves.

Yeah I don't disagree that this is a good character trait, it's just a pretty low bar. Especially when we really struggle to name the things he's really good at.

If there were no offers on the table then I wouldn't be miserable with him staying, I think he can be a squad player with a nose for goal.

I'm just finding the overreactions about the potential transfer baffling.

Are we watching the same game?

We desperately need an upgrade at LF.
Left sided 10? I hear ya but I think nacho can grow into it. Maybe I'm being too emotional thinking it's his last game for us.

Imagine watching us for the last 2 years and thinking this is the guy to sell. Club and fans have gone mad

Very good today. Feck this shit idea of selling him. INEOS and Ratcliffe will immediatey loose a lot of respect and trust from my side if they sell him. (Not that they will care about my feelings but still).

He always tries and tries to make things happen, even if it doesn't always come off. Selling a player like that in the horrendous state this attack is in, would be something else, even for this club.

I'm convinced that due to our lack of attacking talent over the last 4-5 years, people have forgotten what a good performance in attack is.

He is part of the reason that it's not very good.

I have no way of knowing, but can't really imagine Amorim being all that thrilled at selling either
