He's quality on the right wing. That's where I think he has elite potential and is just a very tricky winger. Threat all day no matter who was up against him.

And some people want to get rid of him, madness

I also feel like he's always better when he's playing on the right wing which is quite uncommon for a right-footed player of his type

If he is dropped another game while Hojlund plays then I wouldn't even blame his attitude. At least with lack of other wide options.

Played very good game.

Good performance. The selfishness still shows up once in a while, i couldn't believe it when he shot instead of finding an unmarked Collyer in the box. Keep him on the right and get him to be more of a team player.

He is better on the right because he doesn't automatically looks for a shot there, everytime he has the ball, compared to when he plays on the left.Just shows you the fact how good he can be if he gets more unselfish.

Hope all of thre posters who called him useless come forward and tell him that he has suddenly become very good now.

Come on fellas.

Much better today. Even under ten Hag, I always felt he was just as good, if not, better on the right. He very much reminds me of Nani when he's on the right. Has the ability to go either side and use both feet.

Looking really promising in that right 10 half space.

Our most dangerous and penetrative attacker by far. Every dangerous move he is now involved in. And when he’s not on the pitch, we don’t create anything. Should start every game.

Some good dribbling down the right and across the box to the left. No finish unfortunately but a few decent balls pulled back for others and our only attacker in the 2nd half to show up and have some success

Also filled in for Mazraoui at one point covering him at RWB and making a tackle in the 54th minute

Fair play, much better today. Still some frustrating moments, but a hard running performance, and some good moments tracking back to cover Maz when he was upfield.

You clearly don't know how these stats work. 5% = bottom 5% not top.

Messi and Neymar were 99 on dribbling because they were elite. The closer to 100 a a player is the better he performs.

All those stats for Garnacho highlight how he's among the worst wingers in the league for tackles won, ball recoveries etc.

Also taking the most shots but yet barely scoring any goals isn't a brag. It's like being the player who get's the most yellow cards.

It should go without saying that their are certain statistics which are more relevant to every position, no one really cares how many goals/assists or dribbles a centre back averages for example.

Low in the dispossessed column yet creates almost no chances/dribbles/progressive passes/goals or assists.

Here's the most important statistics for wingers.

Goals
Assists:
EX Goals
EX Assists
Shot creating actions
Successful take ons
Progressive passes
Passes into final third
Passes into penalty area
Progressive Carries.

How many aerial duels a winger wins or the amount of blocks they average aren't very relevant, those stats are used to measure centre backs etc

Garnacho is incredibly poor in all of the most important metrics for wingers.
No, I fully understand the metrics, he is very high in the metrics I pointed out, also in quite a few that you've mentioned there as well.
Also on terms of how he fares in those metrics in this team he is near enough top too. Highlighting his worth to the team.

Blocks, interceptions, possession won back etc are very important for a player in a pressing team whose system relies on winning the ball back quickly and getting into defensive blocks to intercept passes. But that's ok if you missed that.

Also it shows his attitude to the defensive side of the game is spot on, something leveled at Rashford as being severely lacking for example, yet with Garnacho we suddenly don't need to worry about that.
Almost like we are cherry picking stats to back up a straw man argument...but again that's ok.
Ahh yes I'm the one cherry picking stats to back up an argument.

I've got an idea why don't we use all the stats you picked and see how Garnacho compares with Antony?

Shots on target : Antony 99 Garnacho 88

Tackles won: Antony 96 Garnacho 33

Touches in Attack 3rd Antony 99 Garnacho 68

Touches in Pen : Antony 42 Garnacho 98

Interceptions: Antony 99 Garnacho 62

Blocks: Antony 97 Garnacho 57

Ball recoveries: Antony 99 Garnacho 41

Possession won back Antony 81 Garnacho 56
in final 3rd

Fouls won: Antony 64 Garnacho 65

Dispossessed: Antony 61 Garnacho 33

Also Anthony being higher in the dispossessed column means he's been dispossessed less. 1.36 times per game vs Garnacho 1.8

So by your logic if Garnacho is an extremely high performer in these areas then Antony must be Messi.
Why choose Antony? Seems a strange selection?

But then again I can understand it from someone that actively doesn't rate United's best attacking threat.

If we sell him for 60-70 m, it will be hard to replace him with better player at that price.

What do we think about having him on the right and then playing Amad at the rwb? That sounds awesome to me.

Then we need an equal/similar amount of pace on the other flank. I wonder if we'll see more of Bruno in CM to free up space for another pacey left-sided number 10.

Thought he was really good in the second half. He wasn’t hugging the wing, really moved across the pitch which helped. Great workrate too.

Good performance and guess playing on the right suits him bit better. Even under ten Hag when we played with wingers I liked Garnacho more on right side definitely.

Much better today. Even under ten Hag, I always felt he was just as good, if not, better on the right. He very much reminds me of Nani when he's on the right. Has the ability to go either side and use both feet.
How does he remind you of Nani?

Nani had much better acceleration and top speed. He had far superior agility; his drbbling, albeit also erratic was more varied and effective. He was also stronger and ultimately had a much better physique. Nani was also much more two footed. Where Garnacho excels is in intensity, workrate and that he doesn’t gove up as easily.

I hope Garnacho doesn’t emulate Nani. He doesn’t have the physical attributes or dribbling skills for it.

What's clear is that Garnacho is much better on the right, he played well today and anyone claiming otherwise needs to find another sport to watch

Without him we'd have no pace in the team and we'd be even more dull to watch. We should be keeping him and helping him fulfil his potential rather than selling him just so we can replace him with one of Amorim's so-called specialist players. It would only lead to us having too many number 10s and no fast wingers once the next manager comes in.

He was better today than he has been for a while, deserves credit for his work rate in particular, he was inconsistent going forward still but it's the best I've seen him perform from us when starting a match for ages.

Despite that, the key pitfalls to his game were all still on show; playing with his head down, making selfish decisions, awful shooting. His limitations were perfectly encapsulated late on where he dribbled from right to left, had a golden opportunity to play in Collyer on the left, but instead held onto the ball, was forced to check his run, and then shot over from about 25 yards out.

Hopefully he can keep this up until the end of the season, it'll drive his price up and we can reinvest the money in a player that doesn't have the same fundamental flaws in his game.
