Good cameo, seems like the time out of the team is doing him good, playing a lot more unselfishly which is an area he needed to work on.
That's being too generous, his dribbling doesn't exist.I feel that he can be a Pedro type of winger for us. His dribbling is nothing special.
Apart from that criminal offside, definitely.
Yeah, not sure wtf was up with that. Should always stay on in that position.
Did they show that offside decision again because we were in a great attacking position and I thought they were supposed to let an attack develop to conclusion before flagging? The lino flagged straight away though (the same lino that also ignored Amad being blatantly fouled 5 yards away from him, even Michael Oliver had to step in and award the free kick!)
It annoyed me because the offside free kick set up an attack for them straight away!
He was running back, working harder and of course a brilliant move and pass to Amad! Hopefully he got the messageGood cameo, seems like the time out of the team is doing him good, playing a lot more unselfishly which is an area he needed to work on.
Rewatched and he wasn’t even offside. These officials are awful.Apart from that criminal offside, definitely.
I was absolutely flabbergasted thinking there's no way Garnacho could be that dumb seeing the entire line and still be offside from that (awesome) Yoro switch so I've been trying to find some clips.
There's still no conclusive angle to see the entire pitch but unless Garnacho can magically teleport behind 3-5 yards in a couple of frames, what the actual feck was that linesman call?

I think that is rather down to confidence. He hesitates that split second and makes it easier for the defender to position himself against him. He used to be very direct beforeIt looks like he's lost a yard of pace, or at least the burst of acceleration to get started. He's been struggling to make a yard for himself, managed it once that I can remember today and it turned into an assist, but he still looked like he was running through treacle a bit.

Most bizarre part is that these linesman often keep the flag down if anything is borderline because of VAR, so to flag it on that (which was just downright wrong), is criminal. Then again the cnut linesman on the other side also let Robertson turn Amad's shirt into a fecking sleeveless tee before calling a foul so it shouldn't be surprising.Knew it. Disgusting call.
It's not a bad thing. He take on players too much at times and his success rate was really bad.
It's probably a confidence thing but also some directive from Amorim because him playing confidently can't mean the same thing we've seen from him under ETH, which was basically dribble x 30 times a game.
It is a bad thing that his dribbling ability has dropped off so much, considering it's easily his biggest asset.
There's definitely a middle ground to be found, he had developed really bad tunnel vision and would always leave it too late to release the ball (if he released it at all), but being unable to beat a man or dribble even a little bit is a huge overcorrection.

I don't really have issue with Garnacho curtailing his 'dribbling' because I wouldn't really call it his biggest asset considering it's so inefficient. I'm not saying he's terrible with his dribbling penetration but it's not that more important or better than other areas of his game e.g movement off the ball to get into the box, ability to hold width, doggedness and willingness to run (with and without the ball).
The middle ground for me is that he can run with the ball to stretch the pitch but I'd like to see him taking on people less compared to before and thus far in his recent cameos, that's exactly what he's been doing. More measured in his play and less take ons even if he has had made some big mistakes in the process too.
I'd imagine it's a lot easier to dribble at pace with your head down and only thinking about shooting. He's having to develop his game and it'll weaken that element of his play until it all comes natural to him again.
Kick and rush isn't the only way to beat a man either, Amad is slower but he's fantastic at keeping the ball close whilst he's head up looking for options.
I don't think he's been deliberately more measured in his play, it's more that he's been less capable of beating his man and so has been forced to measure his play.
He's previously demonstrated a great ability to beat a man, but would often demonstrate pretty poor decision making around when and how to release the ball. If he can cut out the unnecessary dribbling, and get his head up more when he's on the ball, then that ability to beat a man will be invaluable and make him much more effective than just staying wide and recycling the ball.
