Back to being an impact sub next week, methinks. If you wanna start you gotta do more than that.

That’s the biggest problem with younger players. Inconsistency.

He has the talent to come back.

I think some of you need reminding that he wasn't that good of a dribbler last season either. He had a 30% success rate on dribbles last season. The only reason why it looked like he was good at taking players on is because he attempted a huge amount of dribbles (around 6.5 all competitions) per 90m, which usually only players that are a lot more efficient at them have the freedom to do.

He isn't ready to start. He's most impactful as a sub coming in when games open up and has a chance to run at his defenders. He'll probably be back on the bench for the next game.

Maybe. Could also be overly harsh given the whole team played a very low tempo, little movement, shoddy passing game and Wolves were up for it.

He's 19 years old. Has all the technical ability you could ask for. His physicality and decision making isn't amazing but that will undoubtedly improve.

I'd love to see the cafs opinion of Ronaldo in 2003 /04.

Decision making let him down today. Feel like Sancho is better in those decisive moments where we need a bit of subtlety finding that decisive pass, but he lacks Garnacho's intensity and energy.

Once Hojlund is up and running, can only see Rashford in that wide-left role as things stand.

Still think Garnacho will play a big role this season. Too early to make any judgement.

I loved his energy, but his end product was a bit underwhelming. A great learning experience for the boy.

Gotta be honest here: I cursed more at him today than Gordon Ramsay does on a normal day in Hell's Kitchen. That speaks a lot about how his performance left me fuming.

He's technically capable but I wouldn't go that far at all. When I watch his game I don't think 'he has very good control of all of his actions involving the ball'.

He's a very young, raw, volume and instinctive dribbler, who has 'it' but he's not good enough to be starting for us just yet.

That criticism isn't just for him to be fair with the performances the rest of the players gave tonight.

It wasn't his decision making that let him down the most. It was his technical ability. He was the most dispossessed player on the pitch today with only Rashford rivalling him in unsuccessful touches. Even his passing wasn't great. Look at Shaw's yellow card. That was a direct result of a wayward pass from Garnacho. It was a straight abysmal performance.

this geezer wicked he better then ronaldo zidane and figo put together fergie as to act now to get him.
Most overated 12mill I've yet seen.

As for rating that a good goal, yer havin a larf

In time he may come good, but whilst fullbacks watch the ball and not those quick feet he'll have to find some other trick to get past.

He's quick , has fast feet but cannot pass a ball accurately to save his life.

As to wether he's a team player is also arguable.

Conclusion...

could do much much better
he's getting no praise of me till he cuts that stupid fecking hairstyle
Cassano seems mature well beyond his age. Watched him in the Roma derby this morning and he looked like one of the more influential players. Martins and Torres are both exciting in their own ways, but for me, nothing compares to Cristiano, especially when you factor in his progress this year and what he'll probably do next year.
I'll give you a top ten:

1. Kaka
2. Cristiano Ronaldo
3. Antonio Cassano
4. Fernando Torres
5. Rafael Van Der Vaart
6. Wayne Rooney
7. Obafemi Martins
8. Bastian Schweinsteiger
9. Arjen Robben
10. Vincent Kompany
Whether Cris is the most exciting or best doesnt bother me, so long as he continues to play with the same enthusiasm and irrepressable nature while respecting the club he is playing for as he has done so far that is all we can ask. He will have his peaks and troughs but has years in which to improve so I really hope he steers clear of injury and fatigue because he is fast becoming a favourite of mine.
I'd rather keep ronaldo, feck figo.

It was one of those typical poor performances a precocious young winger can turn in. Hugely frustrating. Very little went right.

Poor today. His decision making needs work. It comes with being yong and learnin

I said it months ago, he will face his 2nd season syndrome when other teams have figured out his playing style and will know how to limit his impact.

The question is whether he has added more to his armoury this coming season to keep the opposition off-guard.

Last night had nothing to do with him being figured out but consistent making bad passing and shooting choices. Like instead of hitting an inviting balk first time, he controls it, shifts it on his leg to attempt something a lot more difficult.
That's just dumb decision making

I've been sceptical of Garnacho's potential since he broke through. I like him, he has a raw directness that is very valuable in many situations, especially at the end of matches where defenders are tired and structures break down.

My concern for him is he's rather small and weak, and he doesn't have the pace or acceleration to compensate for it. Nor does he have the exquisite technique of the best young wingers. As a dribbler he's quite good but I'm not seeing anything amazing here.

I fear he's another massively overhyped youngster who'll fail as a result of too much expectation. I think he could be an effective forward for us as he develops, but he's not the new Ronaldo or anything like it.

He looked better as impact sub, nothing wrong with that. He is very young player. wolves game was probably his worst, hopefully he will be over this quickly.

I don't think I have ever seen him play well as a starter if I'm honest. He looks better as a impact sub against tired legs when the game tends to be more stretched. In fact we really could of done with his ball carrying ability in the last ten minutes last night where we had no outlet at all.

It was hard work for all our attackers. Wolves were basically playing a back 7/8 sitting in a mid to low block and doubling/tripling up on all our attackers when they got the ball. Garnacho needs to learn in those situations it's better to use your teammates and play combinations rather than try to dribble past everyone every time. Mount and Shaw were making underlapping and overlapping runs and garnacho was just ignoring them and running into trouble nearly every time.

He's young and he will learn, but until he does I'm not sure I see him as a regular starter. Think he has more value currently as an impact sub.

That has to be as close to a 1/10 performance as you’re likely to see. I’m not worried about him, as he’s still very young, so will produce loads of terrible performances until he starts to get more consistent in a year or two. I am worried about a squad where we’ve so little meaningful competition for his place. He would be a brilliant understudy for a reliable 6/10 or 7/10 performer who plays the same position. Who is that other player though? Last night really brought home how I was feeling for a lot of last season. Worrying that we have serious flaws in squad depth for every single position on the pitch.

We were mostly creaming in our pants. Even when he wasn't productive, and wasteful at times, he put bums on seats.

It was a poor performance, no two ways about it. I'd go as far to say he was the worst of a bad bunch. Goes without saying that that's totally normal for a player of his age.

Poor game. But he’s young & very raw. He is lacking in technical ability which is a massive concern for me. When he is pocketed by the defending full back, his ball retention & ability to manage/control games is really lacking.

If he had tightened up on this aspects his game would have been a 5/10, nothing came off but his general playing being par for the course. Consequently, he put in a 2/10 last night

Maybe. Could also be overly harsh given the whole team played a very low tempo, little movement, shoddy passing game and Wolves were up for it.
Either way he'll have to be back on the bench if just to get Rashford back on the left.

It's interesting to observe just how below par the rest of the team were yesterday, and not just him. He had a particularly bad game, but there were so many other poor performances that it looks like more of an 'early season' thing rather than anything more to be worried about.

ETH has to improve their sharpness quickly.

Couldn’t disagree more with the technical comment. Sancho is a super technical player with limited dynamism & athleticism. Garnacho is the complete opposite, direct & aggressive in wanting to make things happen. Technical is the last thing I would associate him; he can’t take the ball on the turn under pressure, has not demonstrated ability to interplay on the edge of the box in tight spaces, shown no passing range above short play.

All his strengths are his electric pace and directness

The Caf is the world's capital of hero2zero.

Christ get a grip of yourselves. As a person who has always been cautious with my praises of Garnashers -- you won't find one OTT praise of him from me. Why? He is barely 19.

My main concern is the 2nd season syndrome -- and he has to offer more than direct running -- he will need to develop his game. I think ETH will do that. You expect his performance to oscillate like a mofo at this age.

Chill the feck out!

I understand where you are coming from but I suppose its how you define 'technical' in terms of a football player.
I think his dribbling is technically amazing and so is his understanding of where to be at the right times.

It might be worth trying him as an orthodox winger on the right, although defensively he's not as good as Antony. I'm a little concerned that if we play with 2 inverted wingers poor Hojlund will never see the ball
