Stupid timing to host the tournament and stupid rule. These youth World Cup doesn't mean much for player who already break through into first team at European top league teams. Even the winners may not enjoy successful pro career, let alone if you just participate and lose.
will be down to him whether to feature in the league run in, maybe cup finals or U20 WC
And it put players unnecessarily in hot water either with the club or their federation.

His supposedly new contract has gone quiet since February, with his current deal ends next year.

Why would they organise it so it clashes with domestic campaigns. I'm sure there's a reason but it makes little sense on the face of it.

There arent many u20 players playing in the big leagues and being important squad players. Most are either in the reserve/youth teams or on loan somewhere in a weaker league. Usually, it is not an issue.

I suppose it depends on how fit he is and how much overlap the national tournament has with the league?

If United lose tonight and on Sunday then the season is over for United really...a few more wins in the league and Top 4 is sorted! and I'm confident United can do that without Garnacho.

A full tournament with Argentina might be great for him tbh.

sorry...but i think it would be crazy for him NOT to attend the U20 World Cup if he is fully fit. this could be his only chance in his career to possibly attend a World Cup

you could argue it would be crazy to reject a chance to play in a European final (no jinx) for a youth competition. He's a senior player at top level.

So it was your fault and Maguire and De Gea are getting the blame.

I think we should let him go especially now. It is literally the only chance he still get to play in that tournament.

Not to mention keeping him against his will could backfire on us especially if we lose to Brighton as well on Sunday

Imagine Man Utd allowing him to leave for some U20 tournament, when we are fighting for Top 4 with Sancho as our left winger.

If Argentina appreciated him so much, he would have had a place at the World Cup.

The point of U20 world cup is to discover young talents and give them a stage to express their ability. Garnacho is already discovered, heck he plays for United!! He'll only be a cheat code for the Argentinian team, it defeat the essence of the competition.

Garnacho back working out his fitness after working on his looks

Professional athlete. If this was Rooney a few years ago in a United shirt this forum would be having a meltdown.
People have meltdowns over nonsense IMO. Even when Rooney was caught going out or smoking or whatever... Just didn't bother me. They'll do what they want ultimately, they'll just learn to hide it better.

If he can get a few games before the end of the season, would be ideal, especially as a game changer for the FA Cup Final.

Rooney was smoking, drinking, eating bags of chips and getting up to all sorts of other shenanigans. For a long time, nobody really gave a shit, because when it came to the games he produced.

If Garnacho does the same, he can vape for the next 10 years and I doubt too many will be bothered if he does the business on the pitch.

I don't understand it. Do first team young players go to this U20 world cup all the time instead of club games? Like messi when he was 17-19. Or somebody like Wirtz now?

It's an interesting one. The most recent U20 world cup was in 2019 and players like Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland featured, but they were playing for clubs like Molde and Almeria. Araujo was there too but he'd only played 2 games for Barcelona that season. Julian Alvarez was playing but again he was at River Plate.

Looks like the last tournament did have some good players in it, but I don't think any of them were at the level of seniority Garnacho is for such a big club (with a cup final to play!)

Till he was 30/31 and then he was suddenly finished.

If it is true, having a young athlete in this day and age with a vaping habit is concerning.

I don't believe it though (the vaping with Garnacho), as the helium stuff did cause some noise, and for me, that is one you could comfortably put to just kids having fun, and nothing to worry about.

It wasn’t helium.

Thanks.

Apparently messi went to U20 WC when he was a regular for Barcelona in 2005. But that WC was in June, after regular season

Not happy with his decision to go to the kids tournament.

Why?

His decision was made easy with us being dumped out of the EL. With top 4 basically secured and FAC final 6 weeks away, there’s no reason for him to miss out on a WC, albeit a kids’ one, with his NT.

FA Cup final. All hands on deck needed. No kiddie games.

Sucks but also can't blame a player for looking at NT stuff as the pinnacle. Many players around the world feel that way.
