Sometimes it's easy to get carried away and forget that he still is only 18 so the erraticness is natural. At that point Cristiano was impressing at Sporting, and we bought him, likelyhood is if Garnacho wasn't here he'd probably be doing the same at another club and we'd be interested in buying him.

Maybe i'm being stupid but he reminds me more of Giggs than Ronaldo, he has a bit of a natural dribbling ability and pace and a little flair about him, but I don't think (at least not yet) he's as skillful with the ball as Ronaldo was and as talented as he is you could just tell with Ronaldo something was there that maybe Garnacho does not yet have, but i'm cheering for this guy to become a world beater so much

He's got "it". He's direct and aggressive and he believes he will beat every defender he's up against. Forget skill, shooting, passing or decision making, that's the bit that really can't be taught.

Is he better than Ronaldo at the same point in their careers? Undoubtedly. They were equally productive and both bit part players but Ronaldo was still in Portugal. Is he better than the Ronaldo who arrived in England with a years experience under his belt? No, but it's close. Those first few months with Ronaldo were exciting but frustrating and unproductive, and he spent a lot of time on the bench. He scared defenders but he didn't know what to do with the ball yet. Just like Garnacho.

Ronaldo would have been 19 at this point in his debut season. He did play a lot more than Garnacho but only scored 6 goals that season. Garnacho is currently on 5. It felt as though Ronaldo’s breakthrough performance was the FA Cup Final, when he looked like the real deal and was probably the best player on the pitch. Be nice if Garnacho could repeat history.

I feel, him playing for Argentina, we should rather be saying he’s better than 18 y.o. Maradona and 18 y.o. Messi.

Joking aside, and putting the ridiculous comparisons away, it’s really great to watch youngster with that much intensity and dedication to his game. He might not be ahead of Januzaj yet, but I’ll bet my sunday tie he’ll have a better carreer.

Looks like Lorraine from This is England 90 with his new haircut :D

I do like the instant threat he brings. Especially when game is stretched.

As good as Garnacho is, and I think he’s been sensational…comparisons with Ronaldo are ridiculous. On his day Ronaldo showed why he would become the best player in the world. His performance in the semi final against Arsenal was pivotal as he took the game to them and was our outlet. I was at Villa away and the FA Cup final and you could see a player whose talent had rarely (Best) been matched at United.

Garnacho I think though has the mentality to
make the best of his skills and the desire to impact massively on games. Could see him ending up at Bale levels.

He had two good chances to score but apart from that didn't do much and was rarely allowed to use his pace.

I reckon he should start against City - he still has an air of unpredictability about his play (defenders don't have a good read on him yet) and that is an asset we could use.

Struggled yesterday. The full back could match him for dynamism.

Still a few gaps in technical ability, ball retention and close control imo.

He’s on the right path, but not sure he’s as advanced as some on here seem to think. Should not be starting the big games, he’ll get there I think, his aim should be to take a first team spot in 18 months time.

Let's not forget he's not long back after an injury and I think this was the first game he's started since coming back. I agree in that he shouldn't start in the final, he seems to have better impact running at tired defenders. The defender matched him for pace v Fulham and it was a good battle, that shot that hit the crossbar in the 1st half was unlucky. I'd imagine we'd go with Rash, Martial and Sancho in final. He's still very young, only turns 19 in July, so it's normal he has parts of his game he needs to improve, but he's definitely an exciting prospect.

He'll come off the bench against City no doubt.

If we're level around 70 mins against City, he'll come on and win us the cup
I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see him getting much joy against Kyle Walker. Even refined pace merchants struggle against that guy, let alone someone who is as raw as Garnacho.

I'm really starting to like this kid, he's definitely got something special. Ability + courage + charisma is exactly what Old Trafford loves to see.

He reminds me a bit of Nedved - high energy, direct, constantly making defenders think. I hope we look to really integrate him next year (but tbh not really sure how)

I agree with you. Hence, he shouldn't be starting.

But towards the later half of the game, the positions he holds can give us a tremendous opportunity. He's not just a pace merchant who can be easily contained. And don't forget, he did exactly this kind of damage against City at OT this season.

His first touch leaves a lot to be desired, I think. Too many times where his second touch is a tackle.

As with the league victory, it's set up for him to come on around 65-70 min mark to break and pinch victory - don't think anyone should be expecting him to be regular starter until midway season after next at the earliest.,.

Man City 2:1 Man Utd
He’s got it. Kyle Walker was shitting bricks any time he got in a 1v1 isolation

Brilliant impact. Kid will be a starter before long. Different dynamic when you are an impact sub but he's just so good. Didn't deserve to be on the losing side

Great little kid. Within 2 more seasons I can see him as a permanent starter.

The way he manipulates his first touch to put the defender on the back foot is immense.

Has a small cameo and was the only time I felt like we offered any kind of threat to them at all. Honestly would go all in on this kid and give him the 7 for next season

Pity we did not see him on sooner , he was our only real threat to them all day.

Thought that shot was in. Has to see more game time next season and less from sancho

Good cameo, he will hopefully have great year next year.

He was the only attacker who actually did anything of note. Can't wait to see more of him next season!

He will be incredible on his current trajectory. Our most threatening player today as City could not deal with him.

What a player

One of the best young players in Europe for sure

Hope he'll work hard during the summer and be an important player for the team next season. I'm really worried with Sancho and Antony.

Knew he’d make some kind of difference when coming on. Offers so much more than Sancho.

A bit raw but a genuine threat. One decent attempt just wide, a run followed by shot that was blocked, a poor cross late on.
