Alas poor Carrick...WTF has happened?

Carrick's best game this season has been for England... which isn't a sentence you often hear, if ever.

Carrick is injured... so, if I'm not mistaken, this definitely means that...

Group A - People who hate Fellaini are happy - because the next few games will showcase how rubbish he is, thus proving them right - this may have some crossover with Group D.
Group B - People who like Fellaini are happy - because the next few games will showcase how rubbish he is, thus proving them right - potential crossover with Group C.
Group C - People who dismiss Carrick's importance to the team are happy, - because no Carrick will demonstrate that we play better without him, thus proving them right.
Group D - Peeople who think Carrick is still incredibly important to the team are happy - because no Carrick will only further demonstrate how much we need him., thus proving them right.

So basically... everyones happy right? Apart from those people who don't care about being right, and are just unhappy that one of our players is injured... but this is the Caf, so there's none of that around here.
Groupe E?

Huh?

He's been really poor the last few games. I mean by his standards, just unavoidably poor. It's now fairly obvious why.

He hasn't been our best or most important player this season either. Our worst midfield performances have all been when he's been playing in it.

I swear the caf is like some surreal alternate universe this season. It's usually a bit odd on here but people are just seeing things that are the complete opposite of what's happening all the time!

When on form he is one of the most important players in our lineup. I agree that he has been poor this season, goes back to a couple of years ago when Fergie acknowledged himself that Carrick has a tendency to start campaigns slowly.

Would you say his performance was poor against arsenal though? I wouldn't. Even with the obvious injury that he was carrying. To me it says a lot that Moyes risked playing him against Arsenal in the knowledge that he was carrying a niggle - even if he has not been in form this season he's still the first player I would put in the centre midfield over anyone else.

Even if he isn't having a great season the issue is that we have no one else to take his spot. Its a damning indictment on our policy towards recruiting midfielders over the last 6 seasons.

Clev and Jones looked like a decent central midfield partnership. Will be interesting to see how they develop together in this period. Will say a lot if they start ahead of Fellaini.

Cleverley seems to have two good games then one bad one. He wasn't great against Arsenal - much too lightweight defensively, having seemed like he had improved that aspect of his game so far this season. Maybe now he'll be good for a couple more games? /strawgrasping.

Jesus, we are so dependent on Carrick.

Fellaini - the dark knight rises....

remember caf peoples we beat Arsenal 8-2 with an midfield of Anderson-Cleverley

every cloud has a silver lining and I predict that Fellaini will show us his capability - Anderson/Cleverley/Jones can certainly do a job

would be interesting to see Fellaini-Kagawa at CM in one of the less physical games at Old Trafford

I disagree, I thought he played very well against Arsenal. Got stuck in and passed the ball very well. I don't have any problems with him lining up alongside Jones, I think they work well together. It's a good test to see where Cleverley is with Carrick out though. I think we'll be fine.

I've written a poem to deal with the grief:

A few weeks with no Carrick in the game
Things surely will not seem the same
He's always playing, a trend that's now bucked
and without him the team is....unbalanced.

Woodward made Carrick get injured?

No, but he's a wanker though. And a massive reason as to why we are left in a sticky spot now that Carrick is injured. I have an irrational need to slam Woodward for everything after the fiasco in the Summer. His recent interview when he, again, acted the billy big bollocks about how we should be signing the best players told me he has learned nothing. Moyes is also partially at fault, but he isn't a wanker, therefore doesn't bare any brunt of my irrationality.

Phil Neville has only been retired a couple of months. Perhaps we'll bring him back and pair him with our other coach.

He wasn't awful but he wasn't great either. Arsenal midfielders kept going right through him. He did have some good moments, his passing was typically good and he was willing to drive the ball forward a few times which was good. But I'm a fan and fairly ambitious for him, and he's not going to get anywhere putting in such flimsy defensive showings.

That said, he should start in Carrick's absence. I'm not sure what to think about either Fellaini or Jones-as-a-midfielder at the moment but one thing I'm sure of is that they shouldn't be playing together. They each need someone more positive and creative like Cleverley alongside them.

This is blow and that despite the fact Carrick hasn't been at his best this season. I hate this feeling when an important player gets injured and there is so much unpredictability regarding the other CMs.

Agreed on the second paragraph. Don't agree that Cleverley had a poor defensive game, thought he played well defensively and his passing ratio was yet again ridiculously good. It'll be interesting to see if that ratio drops at all when he isn't in the same side with Carrick.

It'll be a good test for Cleverley either way. I'll be honest, I think we might actually play better with Clev and Jones in the middle, we shall see.

We're fecked. This means he might miss around 11 games potential.
Cardiff (a)
Bayer (a)
Spurs (a)
Everton (h)
Newcastle (h)
Shakhtar (h)
Villa (a)
Stoke (a)
West ham (h)
Hull (a)
Norwich (a) -December 28th
6 weeks would take him up until December 25th but it's never exact obviously, meanwhile if it's only 4 he should be back for villa. Terrible period for him to be out.

For feck sake Moyes!!!

And Woodward!!!

This wouldn't have happened if Fergie and Gill were around.

Well we should, shouldn't we?

I thought he wasn't playing poorly or through any kind of injury?

I thought the only reason I'd pointed this out was because I had an agenda against him?

He seems to be another one of our supposedly key "experienced" players who think they've earnt the right to take three times as long on the ball as every opponent they face.

He was far too slow on the ball in the first half against Sunderland...he was turning what should have been a routine win against feeble opponents into a huge struggle.

You're so sensitive.
