Ok all this city talk is boring.

I was happy with his display last night, he didn't seem disinterested and got stuck in. He particularly linked up really well with Lingard and as usual was one of the better players on the pitch, he was always looking to make things happen and took leadership.

Moyes has just confirmed in the press conference that Januzaj will sign a new contract and he will be available for selection for the CL games in October because of the length of time he has been at the club.

In October - what a weird time of year for it to kick in.

Anyway, it's nice that he's on the agenda for Moyes and the press. The more opportunities he gets the better - he looks exceptionally mature for such a young player. Which hopefully will mean we can send him out in tricky situations as well as using him as a sub once the game's won.

Yesterday's Daily Mail Exclusive was that City are trying to sign Januzaj, how can it be an exclusive if two other shitty rags have ran the exact same story? It did go into a bit more detail though and said that Januzaj is in a very strong position to make demands and that he was a touch miffed about being asked to go out on loan to Blackburn, he's clearly been speaking to Will Absolute.

I want him on the bench for every game from now on.

He's got a little way to go before he'll be starting as I think he'll need to learn the "match play" side of things in terms of choosing when to attack, when to get back and other decision making processes that are key to controlling the game rather than just constantly taking the game to them.

He'll learn that with time though and he's a great super sub to have come on because he's such a tricky little so and so that can really cause problems and get the ball in dangerous areas.

Things seem to be coming together for him now. His may be the name one everyones lips by the end of the season, instead of Barkley.

Talent wise he's better than Barkley.

The best youth player I've seen at United.

Yeah definitely. I think Januzaj is as exciting a talent though. Morrison seems to have shot up in height too, I think he'll make a good CM. He's scoring for fun for West Ham through preseason and in the cup game also. Now he seems to be getting his chance and Allardyce is talking him up, hopefully he'll really kick on now.

I still think Ravel will come back here once he matures properly.

Big red and still comes out to see the Reserves whenever they're in action in London(that was the case last season)

That'd be class and something I've thought myself. Just needs to mature a bit. Part of me is gutted that we're not getting to see him and Januzaj in the same team, along with Pogba. What a trio that'd be!

Barkley looks physically stronger, and that can be more important than talent sometimes.

Only a part of you!

I was convinced at one moment that the midfield trio of Tunners, Pogba and Ravel were gonna take the world by storm.

The other part of me is just relieved we still have januzaj

I was heartbroken when Morrison left, felt like I wanted to just give up when Pogba left, Januzaj gave me the strength I needed to have hope again.

Pearson, Wilson and Pereira are my next big hopes.

Yeah when we lost those two I wasn't expecting another big talent like Januzaj to just come along. Pearson looks every bit a Manchester United player.

Manchester City are pushing to rumble Manchester United's contract talks with Adnan Januzaj.

The People says City are working to land the brilliant 18-year-old midfielder, whose contract at Old Trafford is up at the end of the season.

Januzaj could stun United boss David Moyes by quitting the champions for their major rivals – leaving them to haggle over a low compensation fee.

Moyes faces a major contract row with Januzaj’s advisers and City hope to pick up the pieces.

feck. I hope not.

He seems a sensible player, even if City were after him he'd be mad to go as he'd just be one of many stock piled youth team players who'd have to sit by and watch them sign a player in his position every season.

Why would he go to City when he is getting playing time at United?

Pogba left because he wasn't getting a chance to play in the first team. If Januzaj goes to City, what guarantees his selection there?

No, if he leaves United it will be for a team that will play him regularly, not the likes of City.

Chillax, guys. We've lost a single youngster we wanted to keep and that probably wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for that fat feck Raiola. Hardly a trend.

In less than a week one reporter has gone from claiming Manchester United's Adnan Januzaj was wanted by Blackburn Rovers on loan for the season, without any mention of his contract, to saying that Manchester City have been working on signing the youngster and 'Moyes faces a major contract row with Januzaj’s advisers and City hope to pick up the pieces'.

There was no explanation given as to what the background to the MAJOR ROW could be.

In Belgium they've been much calmer about the situation and simply bathing in a giddy happiness that their boy could be on the verge of Manchester United greatness. The twin arrival on the Old Trafford scene of both Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini has been something to really excite Belgian sport reporters and Manchester United should be braced for a whole raft of press applications.

Belgium think Januzaj is their boy, he's their next great hope in a small country bursting with football optimism. Januzaj proves that the current Belgium team is not a fluke and that there's more to come down the conveyor belt, but the youngster hasn't even committed himself to them yet.

Januzaj was born in Belgium but through his parents would also be able to represent Albania, Serbia or Kosovo. The latter two are very unlikely, one through preference and one because they're not even allowed into recognised competitions yet. The choice comes down to Belgium and Albania, he's known this for years and had approaches from both FAs and yet not played for either at youth level.

Given the time he's had to think about it, it would appear to be a case of whether he believes he will get into the Belgium set-up regularly. If it was just down to love of a country then there's no need to wait for years to make a decision, and that's a decision which theoretically could change right up until playing competitive senior football for either side.

His agent Dirk De Vriese spoke to Belgium's HLN earlier this month and said "The way that his father wants this, is that his son has to first play for a big club. When in the first team only then he will make his choice on the national team."

Januzaj and his father could have pushed for recognition with either country and increased the player's profile more around Europe. If he'd plumped for Belgium the country would be even more excited about him and his star would rise after being aligned with the growth in football there. To cut to the chase, Januzaj could have cashed in a lot more by now on his image if he'd have plumped for a country both in terms of commercial opportunities and his perceived value as a footballer.

That, and his father's desire to wait until he's a first team player, show a concentration on actually making it in football, but also a tendency to dither so it's no surprise that his Manchester United contract hasn't been signed yet. Whilst that automatically brings concerns, especially with the media stirring the pot, it's probably not the panic situation which is painted.

The Belgian press is clearly the closest to the Januzaj family and De Vriese, they've been speaking to outlets such as HLN and Sport Wereld throughout the youngsters fledgling career, yet right now they have to get all their information about clubs being interested in him from England. It makes you wonder how the media here can so confidently claim Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and now Manchester City are in for the player.

Take Juventus for starters, when the Paul Pogba situation started it was local sport newspaper Tuttosport who led with the claims, way before anyone in England took them seriously. Tuttosport had the news for months and had inside knowledge, as they often do, from the Turin club. Yet with Januzaj they're relying on rumours from English newspapers, makes you think there's nothing in it.

Barcelona too. The Catalan pair of Mundo Deportivo and Sport would be all over the Januzaj story and certainly be the best informed if Barcelona wanted him, and yet any little reporting they're doing on it is based on claims in the press here. It's a struggle to find anything at all on Bayern Munich interest in Germany, the press there appearing to be oblivious to the existence of it.

One can choose to believe that suddenly British newspapers have built up a better relationship with the Januzaj family and his agent than the Belgian media or a better relationship with the clubs mentioned than their usual trusted sources, or that someone is taking a punt and those were the obvious clubs to pick. On that basis would it be any shock that Manchester City has now been added?

In Belgium they have no inside line on this, they are concentrating on enjoying the excitement of seeing Januzaj emerge and despite the contract dithering that's probably what Manchester United fans should do until anything more concrete suggests otherwise. As for 'major contract rows', it just doesn't stand up.

The management team that handled Pogba and Ravel have left. So no lessons learnt here.

Not much they can do am sure they want to offer him a contract but problem is he's in his last 12m because the contract wasn't done before Moyes came in and as he gets more exposure the more teams will be interested. Not really sure how he's gotten to his last year. Fair enough your average fan not knowing how good he is, but everyone at the club would have known his talent, surprised they wouldn't have ensured it was sorted asap.

He seems quite mature though so I guess you just have to hope his advisers realize that given our track record for developing young players he's in good hands.

Hope you are right.

He looks like such a great prospect, a real modern attacker, I hope he doesn't slip through our fingers.

This point has been made a few times in the thread, but it's surely no great mystery - he didn't want to sign, just as he refused to commit to a national team.

I suppose the club could bring in Luca Brasi - Mike Phelan? - and warn him that his brains or his signature would be on the contract, but that might be disapproved of by the fastidious.

The club are probably anxious to get it done and dusted as quickly as possible. I think there's a much better chance of a good outcome than the Pogba saga, not least because we must have learned lessons from that failure, and will be determined not to let it happen again.
