Adnan Januzaj

If he refuses to sign the contract even after given ample chances in the first team, then the club can't really be blamed for it. Although it will probably be best for his career if he does sign because he risks being frozen out for the latter part of the season if he doesn't.

Don't know about blame, but as a club we can't afford to keep losing our best talents.

This point has been made a few times in the thread, but it's surely no great mystery - he didn't want to sign, just as he refused to commit to a national team.

I suppose the club could bring in Luca Brasi - Mike Phelan? - and warn him that his brains or his signature would be on the contract, but that might be disapproved of by the fastidious.

The club are probably anxious to get it done and dusted as quickly as possible. I think there's a much better chance of a good outcome than the Pogba saga, not least because we must have learned lessons from that failure, and will be determined not to let it happen again.
He didn't want to sign? Hmmmm.

I'm sure he is going to wait a while longer maybe till January and look at the offers he gets and then compare these offers with his standing in the team and how his chances for first team football are. I just hope we give him enough playing time so that he is convinced that staying would be a good idea.

Hopefully we make him an offer he can't refuse.

Will be ridiculous if this one leaves us too.

feck sake. Drama queens over some shite written by a few two bob Journos.

Just wait and see.

Personally I would have no reservations throwing him in against City. I reckon he would thrive off the atmosphere and cause their right back some serious issues.

Well, what would you suggest? That we have yet to make him an offer? That would be a bit careless on our part, wouldn't it?

There's no need to press the panic button at this stage. Look how long Nani's contract took to sort out. Hopefully DM will give him a few games in the next month and that will tip the balance. If it drags on into next year though, we'll know we have a fight on our hands to keep him.

Moyes seems very confident of him signing and that'll do for me.

Not doubting that bit. Just found it interesting that he didn't want to.

Really hope we can wrap this up quickly, even if we have to concede some ground, because all the big clubs will be sniffing if we don't come next year.

I'm sure there's not a single issue with the player, these things just take time. You guys worry far too much.

Should it really take long to renew a contract especially for an upcoming player. We are not talking about a Rooney or a Ronaldo where there is image rights etc.

The negotiations should be as follows:

Woodward: How much do you want?
Agent: £10k a week should do it.
Woodward: Take 15k
Agent: Where do we sign?

The best thing on the Caf is a theoretical negotiation transcript. Brilliant.

It's a shame you're not in charge of our transfer negotiations and contract dealings.

I'm just going to put that down as a joke. Surely you don't actually think that?

There is a real danger of losing him to City.

 I'd love to see you buying a TV.

"How much for this television good sir?"
"Its £500."
"... I'll give you £700 if you give it to me right now!"
"But sir, it's marked as ..."
"£800 damn you!"
"... ok"

I don't see any problem here. After being given his chance against Crystal Palace, he admitted that he was surprised and didn't expect it. To me that indicates he was willing to wait for his chance, which only reinforces my feeling that he has a good attitude. He seems to like it here and it's clear Moyes intends to give him more chances this season. Nothing to see here really.

Reminds me of the famous Seth Johnson to Leeds story.

Player wanted the move desperately. When meeting with Leeds agent told him to keep his powder dry - they wanted something like £15k a week. They walked in, Ridsdale told them they wouldnt got a penny over £30k p/w. The agent "grudgingly" agreed. Johnson was shite and stayed for the full length of his contract. Great work by Leeds.

Indeed. Why's he going to go to City to sit on their bench? Much more likely to get regular football at United frankly.

More money ? It's not like we haven't it before. We've been talking about a new deal for months now and nothing is signed yet.

What that name I would misread you for Snoop Dogg and have you down for smoking pot all day long - yeah, so probably an upgrade then.

You know Nate Dogg was a rapper/singer too right?

I don't follow these sorts of formulas anymore. I think many of our fans have a tendency to almost in an Essien calculator sort of way to declare that we are the best option for a player, and it rarely turns out this way. We had mathematically concluded that Hazard would choose us, Thiago will obviously choose us ahead of Bayern etc. Often, I'd imagine money talks largely, and if Barcelona/Real dreams are revealed, then it presents a new problem.

With regards to players in their final year of contract, they are all leaving until they have signed a contract, in my view. With months to go, you have now entered the stage where action is everything, like coming to the final days of a transfer window for example. At that stage, whatever will happen has to actually happen, speculation will be proven true or false soon enough. If months go by without Adnan extending, I will assume he is leaving, regardless of the rhetoric coming from the club in the media.

from the U21 game the other night.

Having only really watched him this season he has got that feel about him hasn't he? The feeling of excitement when you have an extremely talented young player who you know is going to achieve big things is such a great feeling especially when he plays for you. The maturity in his play, the way he uses his body, the feints, the vision, the intelligence and incisive passing and most notably his postioning is beyond his years. You can only see bright things for this boy. He is clearly ready for first team football and I would have no worries about putting him in the starting 11. You can see he is a possession footballer and likes to force the issue, I cant see any reason why with a bit of courage and belief in his young asset Moyes can get a positive contribution from Januzaj.

He´s looking a great little player and I definately want him to stay. I´m also convinced this is all bollocks and he will be a United-player for many years to come. IF he decides to leave then so be it, if he doesn´t wanna be here we´re better off without him

Don't take sense here while the usual Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime repeat their nonsense.

If we lose this kid, it would be two of our best talents in succession. That represents a worrying habit. It might be just 2 players but it's a lot for a club of united's size.

You'd bankrupt Manchester United running it like that.

I'm having trouble sleeping with the fear that the whole United team will catch the Ebola virus.

Every now and then a special player comes through from the youth side...I think he is it and should reward him thus to be honest. I'd be interested to know what his agent wants mind.

Its a different scenario - those players were established and would probably be first team regulars wherever they went. They had their pick and could pretty much guarantee playing time. Its not the same with young players.

Pogba moved on - largely because, he claims, he believed he deserved a first team spot. People can speculate that it was all about money (which was surely a factor), and that he would have had game time the following year, but ultimately he went from being a reserve team player to a fairly regular starter at one of europe's top clubs.

Money is always a factor - but with young players the main issue is whether they see a route into the first team. A move might bring short term financial gain - but at sums which would pale into insignificance if a player becomes a PL regular.

You can never say never - some players make daft decisions, but he seems to be akid with his head screwed on right by the few comments he's made.

My point is, our logic is not always valid. You say they are established players who could have been starters anywhere, but I do not recall us saying that at the time.

With Hazard, it was 'he say's he want's to play behind the striker. We have Rooney/Hernandez - Hazard would start ahead of Hernandez while Chelsea have Mata, which = he will choose us'.

With Thiago, it was basically 'Bayern have good midfielders, we have rubbish midfielders = he will of course choose us'.

In reality, I don't think it can be ruled out that Adnan feels his career (or his bank balance) would be better served away from Old Trafford. At present, in my view - the overwhelming evidence is that he has not signed a new deal and his current one allows him to go free in a matter of months. Until this fact changes, the likelihood is that he will leave in my view. Again, we can say 'he only has Young and Valencia who haven't been playing well, wheras City have x,y,z, so of course he will stay' - but the mind of a footballer is wierd and usually full of pound signs to be fair. The mind of their agents even more so.
