Adnan Januzaj

The Picture with Fellaini looks like a rent boy being sold off to some rich Arab business man for illegal pleasures but.......this bloke is our new Ronaldo and we simply have to worship him as he is that good...God bless Yanoozay

Surprised this thread hasn't been bumped. Poor performance today - a lot of runs without looking up.

Busy blaming Fellaini, Rooney and Moyes.

Seriously though, yea, such matches are going to happen, there was very little movement from our front players as well. I feel that Januzaj's benefiting the most when RVP is playing, he's always making himself available and Januzaj's brilliant at picking the pass to Robin. He's still young so there's still much, much to learn but hey, he couldn't be at better club if he wants to become a top, top player.

Agreed.

Probably his worst performance (they've all been great up until this one tbh) but wasn't anything concerning. The stuff he tried just didn't come off for the most part but there were still encouraging signs. He still tried to be positive with his play, and took players on with ease, had some really nice forward passes, and linked up pretty well with Evra. Also tracked back. It's important that when youngsters inevitably have off days like today, that they still be positive in their play and not revert to playing it safe and reserved like Valencia last season, it shows that they have fragile mentalities. Januzaj today showed that even when things aren't going, he can still make things happen, and will always try.

Also his performance was made to look worse because nobody offered any support. Everybody stood still when he had the ball and he had nobody to pass it to so he had to resort to dribbling past players.

Nani probably should have come on for him this time. He wasn't having any luck on the left wing and I read on Sky Sports that he "lost the ball 13 times in his 68 mins on the pitch". A poor game, but that's normal at his age. He'll have to learn from it and come back better next time. We've been relying on him to inspire us for a few games now. It's up to the other senior players to step it up.

His dribbling wasn't "ON" yesterday and he kept persisting with it. He'll learn from games like these that doing dribbles all the time isn't always the best thing.

Shite yesterday and there are going to be a lot more of those days for him.

He's 18 years old. He 's going to have games like this occasionally. I'm not bothered by his performance at all. If he was a 27 years old Portugese international or a 28 year old England international we would have a problem.

Why are you surprised? Surely it's anything but surprising that an 18 year old player will have the odd shit game?

Taking on too much and running himself into walls against defenders doesn't bother me at all, though he can't take so many risks deep in our own half.

He'll learn from it. No biggie.

Started the game well and made some clever little passes into the strikers feet.

Unfortunately though he struggled a bit with the pace and power of their RB.

Shame that he and Valencia could not swap for a little bit to perhaps get him more into the game, but Valencia being chained to the right flank made that impossible.

Anyway we knew he would experience games like these, it's all part of the learning process.

Nothing really came off for him, but was good to see him get stuck in when he lost the ball. One of our only players who likes to attack.

At least he isn't scared to take responsibility of the ball. He keeps trying things because he's confident in his own ability. Wish we had 5 or 6 more like him.

At least he didn't go missing when he was having a hard time. Always happy to receive and go after the ball even if he was playing shit, which is a good sign.

EDIT: Damnit Sixpence!

Difficult day at the office, double/triple teamed and most of the players who should have been making themselves available for the easy pass when he was in trouble were on one.

Looked like he had the wrong studs on yesterday his feet kept going from under him

Because no player is immune to criticism. I was making a comment on a poor feature of his game yesterday.

Needs better decision making. Chose to run headfirst into a mob of defenders and losing the ball rather than pass.

More a problem of ability than decision making yesterday. I think he didn't manage to go past a single man and still tried it everytime. It's not the decision making that made me worry yesterday as that's sth that will come but more the fact that he looked very ordinary.

Young player in inconsistent shock!

This!

People can't seriously be worried because he had a shite game? He's only a kid and the talent he has is obvious to everyone surely. He's bound to have shite games until he gets a bit more experienced.

I was more disappointed with the players around him. We're missing Scholes in that respect.

In the past, when wingers were doubled or tripled up on, one of the centremids would get into a position to work with the fullback and give them an option and we'd switch the play quickly and either go through the middle or on to the other wing.

Both Januzaj and Valencia looked so isolated yesterday and we'd have had a lot more success if we had a player capable of supporting them from CM and switching the play.

Fellaini came over to both sides a couple of times but looked so sluggish and void of any idea other than short passes back and forth or sideways.

As people are pointing out, young player in inconsistency shock. He didnt have a great day yesterday and it wont be the last. Lets just realise we have a potential star here and enjoy his development.

I actually think he'd have been better of through the middle yesterday. Less chance of him running down blind alleys. Utilise his one touch passing better.

Its all good though. Matches like that will teach him more than a 5-0 victory.

What the feck? Now his ability is in question? Where were you when Ronaldo was coming through and serving up some shite?

Thats not a question of ability in any sense of the word. Its bascially about timing and experience.

I almost enjoy seeing young players of his ilk in these scenario's. Watch out for the difference next time hes in a similar match....

I won't criticise him for the occasionally off games, as long as he is trying to be involved, and trying to create something. He had more touches for 68 minutes than Valencia had for whole game. He would definitely do better with players who are better technically around him, who could do one-two from time to time with him, and I don't think that worked yesterday with Hernandez who still has problems with his first touch.

Didn't go hiding which is always nice to see. Could do with releasing the ball a little earlier but he's still learning the game.

He was the only possession-player out of our 4 offensive players so it was expected to be a poor performance by him. He doesn't have the dribbling, pace and strength to play in those kind of games in my eyes.

I absolutely love him though and I can't imagine anything more exciting than getting to see Kagawa and Januzaj in a midfield in front of a DM. They would turn our team very modern, 2 dribbling creative midfielders who love to play in crowded areas.

Not his best game, but he will have taken it all as part of his plying his trade. He got into some nice positions and let himself down with the final ball. That will come, nothing to be afraid of.

our wingers won't look so bad if our midfielders were slightly better (as in they would occupy spaces which are vacated when a flair player gets double/triple - teamed upon)

 fecking Januzaj not looking like a world-beater every game. Sell the ordinary cnut!

At least he tried doing what a winger is supposed to do. Yeah, it didn't work yesterday but that's football - particularly for a winger. Might have been a different game for him if he had options available as well. He's usually got an eye for a pass, but our team simply didn't work together yesterday which sort of "forced" him into trying to make something on his own. A bit young-naivety, but he'll learn from it.

He was flying in the first few games because fans didn't expect much from him. Now, he is already in a completely different situation. People expect a lot from him and the burden of the expectations isn't an easy thing to handle for a 18 y.o. player.

He's an exciting talent but at this point in time surely Nani should be starting ahead of him (and Kagawa, and Welbeck).

Januzaj should be on the bench most games, and start some easier ties at Old Trafford.

The problem is having Valencia on the opposite flank. There's just no versatility. Put Nani on the oppositr flank and they can interchange, Januzaj can come into the 10 position, the opportunities are endless.
