Adnan Januzaj

What can you expect with Duka et al at the helm.

Unfortunately not good things. Hopefully he'll get sacked soon, probably he isn't friendly with the new government as much as with the previous one, but that's only a hope.

Your passport is irrelevant. As Kosovo will never be recognised as a fully independent state, they won't ever have a team to compete, etc etc. So if Adnan is clever he will pick the team with the best prospects for him personally, which at the moment is Belgium.

I wish Subotic showed such cleverness - he could have gone to the World Cup with either Bosnia or the mighty USA, instead of choosing wrong ;)

It's hard to get rid of them. Personally I think the job should given to a Kosovar and someone's who's going to do a better job of convincing diaspora players to represent the national team. If Albania had Xherdan Shaqiri, Granit Xhaka, Valon Behrami, Pajtim Kasami, Blerim Xhemaili, Admir Mehmedi, Adnan Januzaj, they would be good enough to qualify from that group ahead of Switzerland and Iceland. Simple as that.

Anyways...

Not simple as that. Those guys only know Switzerland. Not out of their diapers when their families escaped their war. Arguably they got a better upbringing and a better football education than they would have back in Kosovo. At least the majority of them. I think it's highly unlikely that so many of them would have made it that far if they hadn't moved.

If anyone would like me to share my Januzaj clips at the end of the season, then I'd be up for sharing them on Mediafire, or whatever. Folder is pretty big, but clips are all in HD. :)

The future line up without speculating any signings in my opinion would be closer to:
De Gea
Rafael - Jones - Smalling - Fabio(?)
Powell - CM
Zaha - Lingard- Januzaj
Welbeck

Future line up is good for a short wank only, I've never seen anything end up even slightly close over the years with these type of predictions.

Not seen this posted yet. Good work by the FA to take retrospective action on that cock Riether for that stamp on Januzaj over the weekend. What do you think guys? 3 match ban?

From ESPN:
Fulham defender Sascha Riether has been charged by the FA for violent conduct after he appeared to stamp on Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj.

The incident, which occurred in United’s 3-1 victory at Craven Cottage on Saturday, could become a landmark one as Riether has become the first player to be charged retrospectively by the FA as part of a new pilot project for potential ‘not seen’ incidents that occur during Premier League matches.

Riether’s alleged stamp during stoppage time of the match was not seen by officials it at the time but it was caught on video.

A statement on the FA’s official website read: “Previously, where the match officials had confirmed to the FA that none of them had seen an incident, the match referee was then asked to review all available video evidence before being asked what action, if any, he would have taken had it been seen.

“Under the new process, if an incident has not been seen by the match officials, a three-man panel of former elite referees Steve Dunn, Eddie Wolstenholme and Alan Wiley will be asked by the FA to review it and advise what, if any action, they believe the match referee should have taken had it been witnessed at the time.

“For an FA charge to follow, all three panel members must agree it is a sending-off offence. In this [Riether’s] instance, the panel were of the unanimous decision that it was an act of violent conduct.”

Riether now has until 1800 BST on Tuesday to respond to the charge.

United manager David Moyes earlier on Monday called for more protection for Januzaj, saying: "Adnan is going to need a little bit of protection or we are going to find that he is getting kicked up and down. I do think he deserves a little bit more than he is getting at this present time."

"We have spoken to him about it. He gets kicked up and down in training every day. But he gets up. Adnan has learned from the good professionals that he has got to get on with it and accept it.

"He only needs to look at Lionel Messi, who is probably the best in the world at getting kicked, getting up and getting on with it and continually producing magic all the time.

"I am not in any way comparing him to Lionel Messi but I am saying we hope the way he gets up after he has been kicked is the way Adnan continues to behave."

Shaqiri said that he was never called from Albania, and if he was things would have been different. He said that in case Kosovo get accepted on FIFA, things will be different. Xhaka was asked 40k EURO if he wants to play for Albania (only a rumour but still) and he still seems to suffer for not choosing them (though he did well for not accepting getting blacmailed). His brother accepted Albania's call. Pretty much, all of Kosovan players would choose Albania if they receive a serious and fair offer. Until now, the Albanian FA has been terrible, non-serious, incompetent and corrupted at it. If they change the president (and the post is given to a Kosovan like for example Vokrri who was a great player and now is president of Kosovo FA, who has influence and is known from all Kosovan players) things might get different. A team with those players Suedesi mentioned, and with the likes of Berisha x3 (Norway, Sweden and the Australian one) and the other young players which will soon be called from other nations, Albania would have a team probably in the level of Bosna/Croatia. But this won't happen anytime soon with these people.

As much as I want Januzaj to choose us, he might make a terrible choice for doing so. He deserves better than a corrupted FA, who still can sell games for a few quids and has not progressed (despite now are a lot of good Albanian players) at all for the last decade. A decade ago, Igli Tare was by far our best player, now we have the likes of Januzaj, Shaqiri and co who would have been willing to play for us if FA did a better job (and the likes of Cana who is a great servant to the team) but still we aren't much better than a decade ago. It's such a shame, that we cannot emulate the likes of Bosna and Croatia, despite arguably having as much qualitative players as them.

Anyways...

Fadil Vokrri. And to merge both FA (Kosovo and Albania). That would be a great choice but I don't expect a Kosovan to get that job anyway.

Nice. Hopefully a lengthy one. It was terrible from that twat.

My point still stands. Both the players you mentioned played through all the Switzerland youth teams. With them they have a better shot at competing in the WC and the Euros. It's not as simple as just getting the call. You can't say that pretty much all of them would choose Albania based on pretty much nothing. Xhaka's brother hasn't even been called up. He just moved first by saying he'd want to represent Albania and I'm guessing it's because he doesn't stand a chance with Switzerland.

Just the other day we had an Icelandic player choose the US. He's not from the US, he was just born there. All his relatives are Icelandic, he grew up in Iceland and played for the Icelandic youth teams. He chose US. Why? Some say it's because he's got a better chance of getting into their team, some say it's because of money and also partly at least because of the WC.

Player of the Month.

EZ1Homc.png

A United player who's not shit scared to play through balls and drive forward, rarest of all sights.

Januzaj isn't a number 10. He's a winger/wide forward. I've not seen much that would indicate he would excel in that position. He would be good at it, but why can't we just play players in their fecking proper positions? Strikers up front, wingers out wide, and Rooney/Kagawa in the "10" position?

Januzaj is a number 10. That's his best position and Moyes seems to agree

Yeah he looks a proper number 10 to me.

He has quick feet, a turn of pace, can beat a player, has the vision to pick a through pass, and even at 18 the only United winger with a footballing brain.

Never a no. 10.

He looks every bit a no.10, but fortunately he looks equally good/comfortable on the wing, which is extremely valuable as too many talented attacking midfielders are luxury players who need to be positioned centrally.

Wait, number 10s aren't supposed to have quick feet, the ability to beat a player and vision to pick a through pass?

I assume you're messing about otherwise that's an atrocious post.

Januzaj is a number 10. That's not even debatable. Fortunately he's quite versatile and can play out wide

Also nothing about his game says "winger" to me so that's out of the way. There'd a better case for wide forward, but that would suggest he's a goal scorer. He looks similar to the number 10s like ozil, mata, silva Etc, all of whom can be employed across the attacking midfield positions rather than a di Maria, Nani, Ribery etc

Anyways he's too young for all these discussions!

We need to be careful how often we use him. With not having international football to concern himself with, I think maybe limiting to 3 matches a month for the time being would be wise. Give him a rest every other or every third game to stop him from being tired. Also it's important he gets time to train and improve. Footballers during the season, particularly over the winter period, are just on the auto-pilot of constant matchday preparation. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact the lad needs to still train and work on his skills. It's good Moyes seems to bring him in and then pulls him out again. Only have to look at what happened to Owen and what may be currently happening to Wilshere to see the dangers of a young player being considered the 'saviour' at such an early age.

But then you have players like Ronaldo, Rooney or Messi who became first team regulars at 18. Not all players are the same, and the ones you mentioned have always been injury prone, which is highly unlikely it came from playing too many matches. Players can burn out come the end of a season if they play too much over the course of the year, 2 or 3 games a week, but all professional players should be able to handle games once a week, especially if you're at the top level, no matter what age. He shouldn't be playing every single game just yet, but 3 matches a month is too little playing time IMO. The way he's played he deserves to keep his spot in the team, and it would be harsh to limit his appearances because he's only 18. If you're good enough, you're old enough.

It's not so much not being good enough but this is his first exposure to football at this sort of level. Messi was three seasons in at Barcelona before he played more than 30 games.

He's no Phil Jones though. That man can literally play everywhere.

The Phil Jones of the attacking half?

Seriously though, Januzaj can seemingly play in a distinct variety of attacking roles. We've seen him do the number 10 role, seen him line up on the left where he's playing predominantly like an orthodox wide left winger, seen him on the right as a wide playmaker, played a relatively productive season as a CF in the reserves as well. Marvellous talent, the young kid is.

He's definitely a natural number 10 for me. He's too good to "stick" out on the wing, the game needs to revolve around him. It will probably be a few years before we really see him settle in this position though with both Rooney and van Persie being the first two names on the team sheet. He's good enough to play anywhere in midfield which is great, he sees tonnes of the ball wherever he plays because his movement is so good. His "starting position" doesn't really matter, he's the type of player you allow to go where he wants during a game.

Dude, they are Albanian players, with Albanian parents, who speak Albanian at home and visit their relatives every summer. In many cases they were forced to leave their homes due to the war, so it's not like they left out of volition. And they have probably experienced some level of racism growing up, which probably has left some scars. Ok, now they're big players and adored, but I'm pretty it hasn't been a walk in the park.

I would be ok with Januzaj choosing Belgium or Albania because at the end of the day how one feels about nationality is a very personal question. But please don't try to make it like choosing one nation over seems like such a clear cut choice. He'd be more successful with Belgium, but he won't win the World Cup with Belgium so success is relative.

The example of the Icelandic player US misses the point. I mean US would wipe the floor with Iceland for example; to suggest that he chose USA because it's easier to break in the US team vs Iceland seems wishful thinking.

He played some at forward in the second half of the season for the United reserves, but very little overall really. We had Macheda and Josh King playing up top for the first half of the last reserve season. Honestly I thought he was much better with Lawrence in there taking some of the pressure off him, and letting him roam the space between the opposing center backs and midfielders.
